Another Castle Video Games the judgment difficulty was cranked up! You basically need Marvelous-timing to get Perfects.

not sure that's possible with ddr. doesn't really sound fun either way.

Well, I wasn't there to verify each of the Game Settings that the owner changed, aside from noticing the increased song count and going off of what he told me. It also did seem harder to nail the Perfects, compared to the very first time I tried a song earlier and got a AAA on a warm up test.

I do know that with my Supernova cab, there is a Difficulty setting that defaults to '4' and goes up to '8'. I am assuming there is something similar with Max2  Lips sealed

I'm happy to see they finally got a DDR machine there. It's a cool store and I'm glad to see the arcade is doing good.

Woot!  I'll have to visit soon. I'm moving out of Seattle in a few weeks and will be just several minutes away from Another Castle, and hope to visit often.

it's by far the closest cabinet to me (like a 7 min drive) and in a great arcade! I heard they might be upgrading it soon!

Dang it, guys!

The first time I visited Another Castle and I get there to find another cabinet with completely unplayable doubles thanks to mods made by ITG'ers this week.

The cabinet was converted from MAX2 to an OpenITG Cabinet, and apparently only the inside sensors are left remaining.

PLEASE FREAKIN MAKE THE OTHER SENSORS WORK AGAIN.

I failed 2 sets of doubles (playing a 7 and an 8 foot chart) due to how terrible the pads were. This was highly disappointing.

ALSO: Having all of the DDR songs from 1st - SuperNova2 in ONE BIG FOLDER is annoying as well. Pretty soon there won't be any working un-ITG'ed DDR machines around worth playing on because all the rest will be converted to OpenITG. Ugh.

Nono, see, it's your fault for not using baby powder.

AKA: why I don't bother going to arcades to play ITG anymore.

Get good or go home.

BluesS, in all seriousness, check out Evergreen Lanes. Yeah, it's a bit of a drive, but that machine was pretty darn nice. I'll be honest, I haven't played there in about 1 year, but assuming my last vigilante pad repair job held up, doubles should be do-able.

I know there's this impression that DDR players just aren't as dedicated as the ITG players, but I see it more as a lack of suitable environment for DDR players as the reason they're not around anymore. Those who DON'T want to play super-intense uber mode are left out in the cold, since the machines are all being modded and converted, leaving precious few machines around in their original format.

Im sorry for the inconvenience for not being able to do doubles at another castle but the machine was modded for people to be able to get better then being able to only play up to 10's, to do local tournaments, more songs, and better accuracy. ddr max 2 got old really fast and no one wanted to even bother playing it anymore and only a couple of people who played on a regular basis, thats why i put a lot of money into modding the machine. The evergreen lanes took out the ddr extreme machine probably because no one plays it anymore, the everett mall movie theater has one and gameworks has amazing stock ddr supernova machine you can play doubles easily the ddr extreme player 1 pad is only good and they have another machine up stairs which i have never played on.

Just go to Acme. That machine's already ruined for the filthy casuals, no need to make more of them unplayable for us.

On Saturday, M477 failed a double 9 on the 1st stage because of the shitty mods.

The pads do feel pretty good for Singles, if you have great form.
Do agree that new players need to be able to play without keeping their heels 2" from the center. Gonna meet with Evan about adding more of the good senors this week, but I didn't see him there today.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I did pay a visit here last Saturday and was utterly disappointed while playing doubles. Other than that, it was cool meeting some new dance game enthusiasts.

Another "perfect" ITG machine eh? I saw Kevbo commenting on how bad it is at ACME on Twitter <_< >_>... Hopefully it isn't as bad here. Not trying to sound mean but this is the future you guys chose XD Oh well... It's not like public machines are drying up, RIGHT?Huh

Another Castle is a classic arcade game arcade. The entire point of an arcade like that is to play CLASSIC games that are accessible to everyone.

A custom built ITG machine with modded pads is entirely the wrong reason of having a DDR machine at a classic arcade. ACME is not a classic arcade. Gameworks is not a classic arcade. Either of those locations makes sense for a cutting edge ITG modded cabinet. Another Castle is the wrong place for pads that can only be used for single players on ITG songs.

Another castle isnt just about only classic its about classic and new modern games hence why the have a new hunting game with a touch screen. I dont know whats up with all the hating but in all honesty the ddr max 2 there was not making anything at all and it would be pointless to even have a ddr machine there and removed just like all the ddr machines in the area. The point of modding was to save what was left. the machine at another castle was inspired by narrows cab and that isnt the only game that was modded at another castle the nfl game is running off a pc as well. another castle has a friendly environment so grab a beer there and embrace the change.

Steven, all I'm petitioning for is the remaining sensors to be reconnected so doubles can be playable. Not a big ask.

I will do my best to make that happen as long as the pads can be flushed as much as possible so that way everyone can be happy and the machine brings in more revenue but from my understanding from the impression that i got from the previous posts was that the machine shouldnt have never been modded in the first place.

In my opinion? It would have been sweet to play on a Max2 again, so yeah I don't think it should have been converted.

But take note, I've never said to convert it back. Smiley   Keep things flushed, no brackets, whatever you want. I'd just reallllly like to be able to decently pass a 7-foot doubles chart due to pads that work. I don't even need them to be perfect or anything, just playable.

Last time I went to the Regal Cinemas in Everett, there was no machine. It's sad to see the Extreme at Evergreen go. When I played there, I saw numerous others playing as well.

the machine was modded for people to be able to get better then being able to only play up to 10's, to do local tournaments, more songs, and better accuracy.
I always get a bit peeved when I see comments like this. Are you saying  that it's impossible to play past 10's on an unmodded pad? As someone who has a (mostly) stock dedicab, I see plenty of people playing and passing 14s and 15s on it during SPERGIN. Is it as easy as a flush pad? Probably not, but I hate it when people claim these mods are done out of dire necessity to pass harder songs. That just isn't true. The truth is, people are so accustomed to having a machine modded to make playing as easy as possible, so now they just consider it impossible with those handicaps the rest of us just consider part of the game.

As far as "better accuracy" goes, I don't even know how to respond to that. I can't understand how having sensors pulled can give better accuracy in any context. The only reason this has become a shamefully common practice is because of the flush pad mod forcing more pressure onto the arrows and sensors, causing it to ghost trigger. In fact, I have yet to see how any of these modded pads help improve accuracy in any way AT ALL over a stock pad design. All these mods do is provide less resistance and lower clearances for moving your feet across the pads. It's all about speed and stamina and the sensor thing is a "fix" that people do because the mod would otherwise f*ck with the sensors if it wasn't done.

I've been part of the DDR scene since 2001 and it's always the same thing over and over again. Stamina players want to get better, so they push themselves and eventually hit a plateue. Instead of admitting that this might be their natural limit, they go past it and modify the hardware, flush mod the pads, add every kind of spead modifier imaginable and then eak out a couple more percentage points and consider it "skill". It's not skill. Just like switching from boots to tennis shoes, they modified the hardware to get a better score, but that doesn't necessarily make that person a better player. These mods allow a VERY select group of players to get a few more percentage points on a score through modifying the hardware and literally destroy any other kind of gameplay option on the machine for everyone else.

I'm sorry, but I think that there's a middle ground here for everyone, and having a machine modified to please (AT MOST) 10 hardcore players in that area is ridiculous. Those same players could very much enjoy the machine even without the flush pad. Seriously, did anyone ever play dance games in 2004 - 2007? I used to be thrilled just to find a machine I could pass a set on and not have a pad miss. Now we're bitching because the pads have the (stock) 1/8" drop to the arrow panel? Sheesh. 9_9
