After seeing that Vancouver Bemani scene video, I got to thinking that it just might be possible to have a B.C. vs Western WA tournament if people were willing and interested.

If nothing else I'm sure we would be able to do some get-together with them seeing how our groups are about the same size(ish) if a tournament doesn't happen.

Thoughts?

I also might be in Japan sometime this Summer... most likely July or August.

Crap, I probably have to get a passport for that too...

You'll definitely want a passport for that, yes.

Laura> you only need a passport via air until 2008.
Though for land travel you still need to prove citizenship.  Birth Cert + Drivers License is okay.  I think you need either a birth cert + picture ID or a passport.  Mojave's Military ID should work too because you have to be a US citizen to join.

edit: beaten by matt before i read the 2nd page Sad

I think one of us got away with just  drivers license but the border patrol wasn't happy.

Passports are not $130, they are $112- even less if you provide your own pictures (sub $100). They do take your ID that you provide (typically a birth certificate) so Alpha is right, don't get it 6-8weeks before a trip to Canadia or else you likely won't have the proper ID to get back in to the US.

Tada: You might want to think about doing it soon if you're going in Summer, rebooking a flight to Japan ain't cheap and the Post Office tends to take its time with things.

A little aside, if you need to go to Canada and don't have your birth certificate (mine was in Hawaii still) you can buy a copy of it for $12 at city hall. It takes like 5 minutes.

Also a group of us should go to Canada again soon. I want to play Fever.

Can you still buy a copy of your birth certificate at city hall if you were born on the other side of the country? :>

Canada trip = good. I would like this tournament, maybe a series of them, one for each bemani game.

If there is a series, I would hope that they are consecutive.  Perhaps a two-day deal?  Would be really awesome if the arcades were willing to stay open 24 hours for the weekend, so we wouldn't have to find places to stay overnight.

That might take negotiation with the arcade owners, which would take negotiation first with B.C. peeps.

Just curious, do we have any BC contacts on this site yet?  I have a d00d in mind I could contact and present this case to, if needed.

I like to sleep... xD And in a bed, preferably :p

The tournament should be run by like, 1 person from our region and 1 person from theirs, or more than 1 each if needed--

BC doesn't have their own forum, do they? I don't know where all these guys post.

Ah, perfect that's exactly what we were looking for.  Saturday is probably the best day among most people here (including myself for the time being).  Let us know, Colin!

Well, me and about 4-5 other guys are usually at E-Spot on Saturdays from about 2-9.. with possibilities for 3-4 others to show up at random times and occasions.  The single best time for meeting up with a big crew would be Friday night at CHQ.. where you will find a mass of people.  Expect it to be extremely crowded though.  It's also really really hot, theres not air conditioning, and the fans are in really bad positions.  Taiko, DMV2/GFV2, and Pop'n are all close together and really quiet.  The 1P controller on GFV3 is hit and miss.. although my friend swears by it.  Bass pedal on DMV3 isn't in that great of condition.. and the cymbal is almost perma-broken.  GF11th/DM10th is a write-off.. GF screen is starting to go and the guitars both suck.. and it's stuck off in a smelly dark corner.  Only thing loud enough and working besides ITG, DDR is GFV3 2P side, and it's right beside MarioKartArcade.. also most of the times there is horrendous lineups.

E-spot would probably be a good choice.. everything is in pretty good condition.. even has..shakka no tamborine!!  Seriously though, theres SuperNova, Happysky, GFV3 (DM is down at the moment), Keyboardmania 3rd, Taiko 7, and RockFever.  Also, linesups aren't usually too bad and it's really dark, cool, and spacious.  Hope to see you soon =]

That V3DM would have to be working for me to commit to coming up =P okay j/k, I'm not that hardass but, dang, I'd certainly prefer it if it were working.  When I was at CHQ last (granted that was 2 years ago almost, now) the V they had seemed to be doing just fine and whatnot; apparently maintenance of their machines is a bit hit-and-miss eh?

Regardless, I'd still be up for a trip for social purposes (but that DM...).  I'll hit you up on MSN for a bit now if you don't mind.
