Thank Bill when you get a chance- if you can find time during your day of complaining about machine status and upgrades.

Tada, don't get me started on what I was going through the past few months.

You hold down a grave-shift job at 45 hours a week that I needed in order to pay for full time school, gas money for commuting 35 miles each way, etc, and THEN tell me off.  Granted, I lacked having to pay rent (I live with my parents), but that doesn't make my point any less valid.  In fact, if I paid rent, I'd be in debt.  I did this past 2 years all on my own with no outside financial assistance.  You?

Please don't compare that to childplay-like part time jobs (what, courtesy clerks?  Here let me bag your groceries for 3 hours, fuck around, go home and fuck around some more... yes, this is the vast majority of the teenage workforce, at least in the grocery industry) and OH MY GOD HIGH SCHOOL HOMEWORK (IB portfolios are only a minor step up, and again, the majority of high school students are not part of such curricula, and do not have jobs).  Trust me, teenagers have essentially no responsibility when compared to adults.  Yes, some teenagers are responsible.  Yes, some (a lot..) adults are dumbfucks.  But in general, my statement holds true.

edit: by the way in almost any case, teens do not have full time jobs while managing school.  It is against federal labor laws.

as a teenager ihave to agree with many, for the most part i have almost no responsibilities, and when ineed money i just ask for itfrom my mom, few times i cant get it so i go work for family\neighbors to make some quick cash and head out.

BUT for the most part i am a very responsible (and in my oppinion) very mature for my age (though icant spell worth adamn and this sticky keyboard isnt helping me any) but thats jsut me, you would ahve toknow me to make your own opinoin on that of course

and i ahve to agree, life as a teenager is MUCH easyer then adulthood, and im not even an adult yet. but i know whats coming, whats around the corner, part of me fears it and part of me cant wait for it (simply ebcause i like being responisble and have the choices fall on my shoudlers)
but thats just me

sorry for all the typos i spilt pop on my laptop keyboard and its still pretty sticky and hard to type on

Points taken.  I guess I'm just coming from a different viewpoint, in that I've actually found my years at UW much less stressful than at Skyline.

I don't think anyone saw me for a good three months, from about the end of SC to when GW got their new Bemani.  I really can't say I'm retired from Bemani with a straight face anymore. Cheesy

On a side note, and just for curiosity sake, I think all of the Bemani at GameWorks (save for TnT) was IZ's old machines, and that's how they were able to afford them.  Signs that I see:

- GF's decals are 4th mix, and DM's are 5th mix.  Both machines that IZ had (They had a GF 4th mix lying around in the corner for quite a while)
- They also had a DanceManiaX sitting in the corner.
- By the copyright dates, PnM could have originally been 3, another machine IZ had.
- The flaws of some of the machines from the get-go.
- They were set up 5 days after IZ's auction.

IZ lives on... I'm pretty sure. Tongue

I know who got most of IZs machines... it wasn't Gameworks.  Lets just say the guy who got the GF/DM 5th/4th walked away with them for really cheap.

Gosha: I can officially say that you're incorrect about GF/DM

GW's does not have any DM/GF from IZ. DMX went to a private seller (although, there was a broken 1st sitting around back, I believe that went private as well). I have the PNM3.

I'm interested in how they got so much so quickly, though.

I think they went with Channelbeat or something.  Or possibly a Sega arcade in Japan closed recently.  Who knows.

Let's not keep spreading this "less than 200" thing around. I'm sure they went so cheap because the other people at the auction could tell they'd be very expensive to repair, and sure enough, that's turning out to be the case. By the time I'm done paying with all the stuff it'll require to get them working/upgraded (I'm looking at thousands for PCBs and at least $500 for drum parts, for starters), not to mention the insane amount of time I'm pouring into trying to track the stuff down, the deals won't seem nearly as good. They'll still be good, just not insanely good. Smiley

Yeah, I'm sorry if I posted that.  Didn't think it would matter much.  Hopefully getting it all pieced together won't be too hard.  The price after everything is done, will still be a lot cheaper then getting a new/newer machine.

Update on progress.
Drum Mania, man, was it ever a messed up POS.  Drums now all rebuilt, with all the tape and bailing wire removed.  Our techs found it fascinating just how cobbled up it was in a useless effort to keep it running.  10th mix kit should be here to install early next week.

Guitar freaks, once again, a mess.  But not as bad as the DM was.  11th mix kit should be here early next week.

Both DM and GF will be at 75 cents.
Pop N 5, a laugh with how cobbled up the guts were.  Improper ROM drive was causing freeze ups and skipping.  That hardly matters now, as an updated hardware system will hopefully be here by the middle of next week.  Will be running 13th mic Carnival software.  1.00 a game for awhile, and will eventually drop to 75 cents.

Hoping to install everything late next week if it goes according to plan.  The old IZ junk will live on!  Seriously, these games needed some major work.  Enjoy once they arrive.  As always, we will strive to keep them in perfect shape for your enjoyment.  (except Tada who is Acme banned)

Can't believe I'm the first to say this (just got back from Chicago); but cool news to hear Bill.  I will be visiting ACME pretty frequently once you get the GF11/DM10 up and running.
Best,
Chris

If I procrastinate a little longer, I'll never have to give GW any money. Instead I will hang out at acme all he time.

I guess I'll still be hanging out at GW, seeing as how I'm banned from Acme.

...and I just don't really like Acme's staff either.  Yuck.

Read Bill's post 3 above Tada's. :-P

I'm not sure which place has better staff.
At Acme - you have people who don't visit the arcade and couldn't care less.
At GW - you have people who annoy you by telling you they'll fix the problems with the machines when they don't have a clue what they're doing.

I'd think Acme Staff > GW Staff
