Thank Bill when you get a chance- if you can find time during your day of complaining about machine status and upgrades.

Agreed with Davyn.  Pop 'n is generally good at keeping songs.

DM and GF kits are on the way.  Still no luck with PopN but still working at it.

BM3 a possibility if cheap.  But BM3 is not doing crap, but neither was 2DX for that matter.  But still worth looking at if something comes along on the cheap.

Yes! Thanks, Bill, for saving us from the tyranny of Gameworks. The techs there are incompetent (read: DM is already broken, after being there for 4 days), and they're also pretty mean, too. As soon as Acme gets GFDM, there's no way I'm ever going back to GW.

No, no, no.  Get Pop 'n Fever.

THEN I'll never go back to GW$. Tongue

Hey, wait, I am also mean!  DM will be version 10.  What version does Gayworks have?

They have 10, but I don't think it'll be in good condition for very long; the hihat already doesn't work in menus.

You DO realize they probably bought used machines, don't you?  That's probably why they were even able to afford them in the first place.

The machine has just been refurbished, according to the tech who was playing GF. It seems like it's pretty new, all the drums have that...new feeling.

Their crappy pads jammed and my attempts to loosen the panel before failing got the techs to threaten me with a banning.  Nothing like losing $1.75 and having the techs swear there's nothing wrong with the machine since three of the four sensors in that panel trigger in op mode if you stomp harder than I had been.

They stole my livestock and precious historical monuments.

...They may have not been nasty to me, but I heard one of the techs was an ass to Kevin.

Yeah...I don't wanna go into detail here, but IM me for info.

Also, Gameworks has consistently shown themselves to have severely unhappy employees and clueless techs.

This is Gameworks we're talking about, they were the only place besides Bill's arcades to get a SN cab at release.  They don't get their money from serious players loading machines with credits, they get it from drunk people trying everything once and charging twice as much as any other arcade (then giving you almost half off if you put enough on a card, so serious players don't get screwed as much).  They've probably had the money for a set of brand new Gold/V3/Adventure for awhile, they just wouldn't gain much more than if they just bought what they have now.  If you hadn't noticed, the old entryway is closed for remodeling; that costs a lot more that a set of 4 music games.

As much as the floor staff are terrible workers (Eric got really drunk and starting climbing on the support structure and pop'n machine in front of 4 staff members - who just laughed and kept walking - and the techs either ignore complaints or shrug you off with blatant lies and accusations of blaming your "lack of skill" on their machines... and then there's the Kevin incident [which really should've been taken to a manager immediately]), the place is wildly successful since the main focus is not on serious arcade gamers, but they do just enough that people who can't get all the way down to (or don't know about) Acme or Narrows use it as a regular arcade.  Sadly, their management knows how to run things; getting people drunk and giving them something expensive to do without leaving the building is a sure way to make money.

I do know the sad truth about GameWork$, but unfortunately, I'd rather play a PnM Fever with one bad button than any of Acme's Bemani offerings, which have remained largely unchanged since it opened.  All they really have gotten is DDR SN, which many of us can agree sucks ass, and BM III, which Narrows has had for years.  I don't mean to complain, but now that there is a place with PNM Fever that is roughly the same distance from my house as Acme, it's looking pretty one-sided for me.

Don't get me wrong though; I'd stop going to GW$ in a heartbeat if Acme or Narrows got a Pop 'n Fever.

If popn was all I played, I might still use gameworks for popn, because they have timecards when you go at the right time.  They're good for a bunch of reasons, really, but I won't go there because it should be obvious.

I like acme because bill takes care of the machines, which is important for the type of player I am.  I'd MUCH rather play on a working old machine than a broken new one, which is why I played DDR USA at GW, haha (though I found out soon that it was nearly as bad as extreme... SN was in pretty good shape though).

BTW, if you don't mean to complain, the best thing for you to do is to not post.

edit: I used to think that teenage players were extremely privileged in that they have few obligations and all the time in the world so they can get good at music games (practice is the single biggest factor in improvement, based on observations over the past 4 years)... however I'm also glad that now my responsibilities reward me with money and the ability to do everything I enjoy... I can go to GW or canada if I want some newer, more exclusive games, and I can always hit up acme or narrows for games in good condition and hanging out.

Even though I'm not a teenager anymore, I still laugh at how ridiculous this sounds.

Oh, and way to not be egotistical.

I meant to sound like I'm above everyone.  It was intended. (you know, if saying "i have money (and loads of responsibility), you don't" is egotistical, anyway)
Teenagers very much have all the free time in the world.  Let's start with no bills and no job.  Have fun Smiley

Guys, James and I were teenagers too so I don't think we're being egotistic if we proclaim our income or make comments about teens.  Well, within reason, of course.  Heck, anything derogatory we say would only apply to ourselves in the past, anyhow.
Moos is just pointing out an observation that most young adults make; responsibilities beget income which includes disposable income which equals independence/spending power.

I realize that can be irritating to hear at times, but just remember that you guys will get to be adults soon enough and you'll be able to see James and I go through our mid-life crises before you all do.

Um, quite a few teens have part-time, or even full-time jobs, all while managing high school.  Either that, or they might be in IB.  Or both.  When I think back to my senior year in high school, all I can remember is endless nights of me working on IB portfolios and wanting to kill myself.  I must have been mental for even considering working on top of that.  Let's also not forget that all the while I had to apply to colleges.
