- ORIGINAL POST -
We can add songs to the Acme Bowl ITG cabinet now.
I'm in charge of this, so basically this is how it works:
1. Post in the thread a link to the song that you want added to the machine. Make sure the audio is in the correct format, the SM file works with R21 syncing, and that you have a banner/background file if you don't want a generic one.
2. I'll play the song on my custom ITG build, and tell you if it's appropriate to add to the Acme machine.
3. Barring any weird stuff going on in my life, I'll add the song to the Acme ITG cabinet next time I do an update. This should occur fairly frequently.
4. If you have a song that you want added but don't have the file yourself (or it's a really common file), just post the song name and author and I'll look for it. I have all the DDR song packs converted for hacking, so that should be possible to add immediately.
Current Added Songs/Packs

Long Version Hack (Bill, this is highly relevant to you. People can no longer abuse the custom song feature in the game to play 20 minute long songs. If they do so, they will count as 3 songs much like the long versions in GuitarFreaks and Drummania.)
DO WANT!!
As much as I hate to say it, the game might attract new players if we cycle out some charts based on Top 40 stuff. Someone once brought a Soulja Boy simfile as a joke, and the machine got SO MUCH ATTENTION that it was ridiculous. There's not much you can do with a lot of stuff, but since pop and dance are basically the same genre now, I'm sure we could find some ok charts...

Oh, we've got a lot of room left. Probably about 600 more songs before we need to start adding RAM.

Upgrades? Keen... I can't wait to try it out when I get back...
As for other songs--maybe some PIU songs if they have updated/converted step charts...

I could start compiling the a "pop songs" folder... (and no, it wouldn't be stepcharts for the ITG fanboys, but it might make more $$ for the machine, which is NEVER a bad thing!).

You really should, I'm sure ITG would make a lot of revenue if they heard some lady gaga or whoever

I totally agree with you there.
And kevin, I assume we can get you to upload custom made songs made by us, if you find them worthy right?
Because I have quite a few I'm working on that I think would be cool to have on there ^_^

I think we need to load Flower Forever, Heaven, One Winged Angel, etc etc so that they have to count as MORE THAN ONE STAGE
I personally WOULD play oldschool DDR songs... like the 3rd Mix Korean stuff. But if the popular vote says no, the popular vote says no.
Jon, that'd be AWESOME if you could compile pop songs.

man those are old school haha.
A lot of them are spread files, so I'm not sure if they are really suitable for index (let alone pad, even by today's standards)

i know Moon Child, Pump Me Amadeus, Red Zone, Showa, and Warcry of Salieri are paddable and not too hard. not too sure about the other songs. so ok putting the whole pack is probably a waste of space =P
oh wait the moon child on there isnt paddable. i was thinking of another moon child

Um I've not yet seen anyone play a 20min song at Acme. Longest I've seen are a couple of 6-8mins that I and few others play. If I have to pay a buck now to play just Boten Anna or I Can Walk on Water I'm going to be severely pissed off
I would think similar to challenge courses being more-play-for-your-buck for experts on ddrextreme, longer songs are the equivalent of getting more for your dollar at acme. Since very few of us can do songs like Flower Forever or For a Lifetime, I think this is an unneccessary and undesirable change to the machine. I spend upwards of 8-12 bucks as is at Acme every trip; I would be less inclined to pay 20 bucks for the same songs as I play now for 12 as I would to just go for a run for free. I'm sorry sometimes you have to wait for the next guy to play something epic but I would argue taking forever to scroll through the song list to pick or opting to play by yourself rather than letting someone else take the other pad wastes as much waiting-player time as letting those of us who play these songs do so. Please for the love of god don't mess up the ITG2 machine...

This is quite possibly the most selfish thing I've heard from anyone here in a long while. You act as it's your
right
to play 6-8 minute songs for the price of one, but it's not. The machine wasn't originally intended to be used in this way, and the only reason it is possible now is because Konami fuxed over Roxor, so Roxor gave everything they could to the players and the community with the R21 patch.
If you play a song that's 8 minutes long an has 3000+ steps, don't you think that the wear and tear on the machine (per song) are greater than if you just played a regular song with 500 steps? It seems very reasonable that the operators of the machine can recoup some of the cost to repair the machine and keep it maintained by counting it as two rounds.
Unless the machine is inside a a house, these machines are used as part of a business. It is important (especially in the failing arcade industry), that owners try to make as much of a profit on their machines as possible while also being fair to the players.
