i was fairly obsessed with this game when it came out in the arcades for a while.  There was a particular system that you had to employ to maximize the amount of points you got, and you had to get as many points as you could in the early rounds as quickly as possible because the density of the blocks that would come down would increase the longer you played.

the greatest was when you could create the giant X with corresponding colors in the inbetweens in such a way that you could clear the whole board.
