I think this one is necessary too.

Good point. I've got AAs on BMUS that'd be low As at best on JP versions. For some odd reason, BMUS bases its grading system on your "money score" instead of EX points. I have no clue why they'd change something like that, especially when EX score is so simple to calculate.

BMUS. crap. i didn't realize it waas different. ANOTHER reason why BMUS craps all over BM and IIDX.

Well, if you want your actual grade, it's based on EX points. You get 2 EX for ever Just Great and 1 for every Great. So, easily enough, the max EX score a song can have is the # of notes x2.

Your grade is based on how close your EX score is to the max score for the song. Every 1/9 of the max EX score you have is one grade up. So 8/9 or more is a AAA, 7/9 is a AA, 6/9 is an A, etc.

For example, a song has 450 notes. 450 x 2 = 900 EX points max. If you get 300 JGs, 100 Greats, and the other 50 are Goods or lower, your total EX score is (300 x 2) + 100, or 700. 700/900 = 7/9 exactly, so there's your AA.

Yeah, it's kind of a pain to do it all manually, but even the JP versions didn't tell you a grade on an individual song until 6th Style, so you have to calculate it manually for any game earlier than 6th anyway.

BMUS has its good points. It's got a pretty decent songlist for a first release, they went with the 9th Style interface, which is quite pretty and the first of the new clean-looking UIs (8th and below are kinda hard for me to look at anymore). Plus, when it was new it was $50 for the game and a controller. I paid $80 for the controller alone back when I first started, along with another $60 for 5th Style and $300 for the modded PS2.

You kids these days! Don't make me come over there and shake my cane!

BMUS grading scale:
AAA - 80%
AA - 70%
A - 60%

Everything else:
AAA - 90%
AA - 80%
A - 70%

BMUS is just 10% different for all grades.  It still uses EX scores.  Expert mode uses the same grading scales as regular IIDX.

I have 9 BMUS AAA's on Normal and Hyper.  I have, like, 20 on beginner, lol.
No real AAA's though.  I'm close on First Day [n] though.

He's got a point, the price for the controller was AMAZING.  The song list wasn't as good as current IIDX releases, but it was pretty fair for a firts mix. . . only problem is there's not likely to be a second.

The lack of any sort of grading system is a joke though.  I mean really?  Are they just trying to insult us?  Or do they just think we suck?

Good to know. Honestly, I got BMUS because I needed a new controller and I wanted to play Bad Boy Bass (9th is the only style I don't have).

Based on the attention that the test location is getting, I'm pretty sure that Bemani will start giving US IIDX players a little more love.

Okay, so I checked some stuff out, and here's the scoop on grading:

100% = GOD
99.9 - 88.9% = AAA
88.8 - 77.8% = AA
77.7 - 66.7% = A
66.6 - 55.6% = B
55.5 - 44.5% = C
44.4 - 33.4% = D
33.3 - 22.3% = E
22.2 - 00.0% = F

8/9 = 88.9%

The divide by 9 rule is easier for me to remember, especially since that's sort of how the in-song graphs in RED and HS are set up. The top three areas are AAA down to A, everything below (in the large area) is a B or less. It's all divided equally.

Makes a crapload more sense than any of DDR's grade systems.

SuperNOVA's grading system can at least be followed. . . somewhat.

They seriously do need to get a more consistent percentage or fraction system though.

The ITG system's good above 90%.

What do you mean "the divide by 9 rule is easier to remember?"
No shit it is because it's how the grading works, any other rule isn't true.

DDR's is pretty easy too, it's just like ITG.  And IIDX.  Just with different % cutoffs.
SN: 100-95-blah blah i never get below an A so I really don't care

Ha HA, what about PIU's grading system?  That thing confuses the hell out of me, as well as the life bar; they both just feel totally random.

LynxWinters
Read March 25, 2007, 05:39:43 PM #221

I think the PIU's system works is this:

[(# perfects x 2.7) + (# greats x 1.6) + (# goods x 0.25)] / [(total steps) + (total of hold step lengths)] = Screw it, HERE'S A LETTER.

HAY Y DUN U JUS GET UP N DANS

well then S-'s start lower than 90.  whatever.  the point is that the cutoff is exactly defined by some percentage.
