I was all talk because I've been really sick all week and had two midterms on top of that.. but definitely nice and simple.
(Actually I was just waiting for someone else to do it... although I did start working on it today.)

(Just stating a question) How effective will the sign be in terms of communicating to a random non-internet nerd that likes music games that, "If you come and join the forums you can meet other players and hear about events and tournaments?"
I'm curious if they visit the forums without knowing what it offers first.

Well so at this point I move that this topic becomes "I posted the pnwbemani.net sticker on the _____machine at the _____arcade."

Thanks Davyn!

I kept it simple so it's easy to read quickly. it's about the size of a bumber sticker so it'll fit on the narrow spaces on most games nicely.

Sweet, looks nice; could you make it so that others can easily reproduce/print it?

Seeing as how I have almost no artistic talent, I'm out.

Also, I think I'm the only one who brought up flyers for tourneys.

I just want to chime in and say that everyone's saying almost the same thing about ideas... not that i'm discouraging them, but I'm saying that we should get on with the actual creating of said flyers.

That completely does not get out what I wanted to say.  Actually advertising tournaments, instead of making them known only to us is what we need to do.  It would help us get entrants from outside the community, boosting the overall attendance, and gathering people all in one place that we could tell about our community.

A tournament would be great for the community.

Revised, yes, but I think this is also accurate.

I say color for the dominant, high-traffic locations (Acme, Narrows, possibly HUB too) and B&W for everywhere else.
Sides of the machine (specifically, the left and right faces of the monitor) is where I remember flyers before, and I don't think there really is anywhere else we can put them on the machine.  People would get pissed if we put them on front of the monitor.

A little unrelated, but we should really start making flyers for tourneys as well.  It's been a pretty long time since I've seen one, and might be another one of the causes for the not-so-great tournament attendance we've been having.  A tournament would be a great place to get the word out about our community.

I always used scotch tape years back with the DDR Freak signs.  Seemed to come off the cabinets okay after the vandals had torn the signs off.  But in most locations, those signs lasted about a year.  Not bad.

Scotch tape on all 4 sides.  Best compromise between vandalism and residue.

Black and "white" on colorful paper.  Works well for low light.

Make it like the job opening flyers that people put on community boards, with the little tabs.

On the tabs:

Quote
Pacific Northwest
Bemani Community
pnwbemani.net

Replace the flyer when the tabs run out.
Place the flyers individually based on what the arcade managers want.
I think that's the easiest, most effective way to do it.

Make a colour one and a B&W one.  Those of us who feel like using up our colour ink in our printers should be able to.  Right to waste colour ink was left out of the Bill of Rights because they couldn't agree on whether to spell it "color" or "colour". Grin

Practice makes perfect.  But I'd rather be great. ;]

If we make flyers, we'll pretty much have to go with Black ink. (Rainbow Flyers would be EXPEN$IVE) Plus, arcades are generally pretty low-light, so colors wouldn't show up much anyways. I was thinking (like my DDRevo2 flyers) that they could be just black on flourescent/brightly colored paper. Those things GLOWED at Narrows; very hard to miss.

Side/marquee/whatever works. It really depends on the placement of the machine.

BLUE MASKING TAPE. It sticks well enough to hold flyers on indefinitely, but comes off without any residue at all.

Color at the prominent locations (include TCB, I saw like 5 or 6 decent players there).

On the marquee or on the "Konami" spot for small flyers.

Use tape and attach them to the top of the marquee. That part of the machine is usually invisible, and you can wipe off any residue left.

I don't have any creative ideas yet, but I probably will come up with some by tomorrow.

Alright, so couple things...

1) Color or B/W?  Obviously it'd be expensive if they were all in color, but a couple color ones could possibly be more eye catching at prominent locations (GW, Acme, Narrows).

2) Location on the machine? Bill was mentioning they were on the sides before... those would be good spots but they might be missed if people aren't the type to put stuff there, I'd think.
There's the prime spot where "Konami" is on the machine front to place a smaller flyer, do you think this would be effective at all?

3) How long are these flyers going to stay up before someone takes them down/best way of sticking them to the machine without arcade owners getting mad for sticky residue or anything related?

4) Any creative ideas?

white fo sho

(also would like some at All star lanes)

side's of the machine sounds good  the Konami on the front of the machine can go

i would use scotch or double stick tape

and maybe some glitter? or.....nvm

OMG SIG i am to lazy to post a kewl pic lol

Poster templates:
(For examples of how to use them/where I put them, see the Acme pictures below)

The one on the left is supposed to be cut at the bottom so people can rip the url off.

Places with posters already:
Waterfront
PiU - on the left side of the cabinet

Acme
All the Bemani machines, full sheets on the left sides of the dance cabinets; in the front of DM and beatmania.

UW Hub
DDR Machine - Left side of cabinet.

Places that need posters still:

Narrows
Tons of places to put them! I never go to Narrows, so if someone could get them it would be great.

Gameworks
I never go here either... do you think GW would keep the posters up at all?

Where else?
