As some of you discovered at Sakuracon, Bill Masterman has recently come into possession of a Pump It Up FX cabinet with NX installed.  His goal is to eventually purchase the newest upgrade when it comes out and put the machine at ACME, but it will be several months before that happens.  In the meanwhile, he asked that I post this poll to see whether people would be interest in having NX replace Supernova 2 at ACME in the immediate term.

Please keep this thread on topic; discussion about anything other than replacing Supernova 2 with Pump NX (other machines you'd like to see at ACME, your distaste for the giant crane, etc.,) all still goes in the ACME Bowl thread. Smiley

4 panel is easy to come by, even if a lot of locations don't maintenance their pads enough.

PiU? Well, you don't have too many choices in this area, and I know some people would definitely appreciate another option, especially if it later becomes a PiU Infinity.

Vote what you will everyone, but keep that in mind.

I'd love to see this. I've come to love 5 panel with PRO 2 and I've wanted to play more of the main series ever since I played Fiesta EX in Thailand.

Acme goers could use the Pump practice methinks. One 4-panel is probably sufficient.

(though if possible, I'd prefer all 3 machines)

I think everyone would prefer all 3 machines if it were possible. Smiley  Based on my conversations with Bill, I am assuming that it is not, but I can totally cross my fingers that we all end up pleasantly surprised!

I don't come to ACME anymore since Drummania left. Sad I'd start coming again if some form of Pump arrived. NX is great, and upgrades would be even better! I wanna start supporting Bill and his arcades again, so please put it at Acme!

Considering that with two dance games, the machines are pointing at each other such that only one of the two is really audible (if they're both being played at the same time), I'm not sure where he'd put a third one.  I find that on the DDR machine, I mostly need to stick to songs that are already musically familiar, to make up for not really being able to hear it while ITG is (almost always) in use.

On another note, there was a Pump It Up machine at ACME before, and Bill got rid of it due to 'free credit' issues, if I recall correctly.  It would be good to make sure this new machine doesn't have those same issues before putting it on site.

I am pretty sure that the "free credit" issues were software-based and specific to Pump It Up: Pro.  This is a good point, though; it is worth some thorough testing.

As for the speakers, I agree that as it stands now, the setup with the dance games is sub-ideal.  That said, I do have reason to believe that Andamiro cabinets have better speaker systems than the Betson-made DDR cabinets, so we may find that it is actually better with Pump than it is with DDR. Wait, so where would SN2 go if it were to be replaced?

Any chance the machine could be placed anywhere in the mean time? No PIU games are coming out until at least this winter.

^Agree, although I wouldn't be able to actually play until October. I just played a bunch of Fiesta EX this week and it reminded me how much I miss Pump.

I very much would like there to be a pump machine available, however there are already long lines that form for the ITG machine due to the fact that Acme is currently the "best" place to go for 4-panel play in the area. If we remove SN2 it will make this issue vastly worse and, while drawing some 5-panel players to Acme, will reduce the time many exclusively 4-panel players will play, myself included. If there are people there, I am able to stay warm by playing DDR as well. I can say with confidence if SN2 were removed and not replaced with another 4-panel, I would leave as soon as more than 1 set was in-between mine. It's very difficult to play high-end when you have to wait 20 minutes between sets...

Anyway, note this: Acme has not had only 1 4-panel machine in at least 4 years (i.e. as long as I've played there) and used to have 3 of them (and even older generation machines than there would be now, even at the time). It would be a horrible shame and a huge blow to the fact that Acme is the state-center of 4-panel play to have to make this compromise now. It would be a VASTLY SUPERIOR ALTERNATIVE to exchange SN2 for an Extreme machine AND Pump. There are a number of machines in there that I really believe could stand to be replaced in order to make this happen. If Acme is ultimately the limiting factor here, I would very much urge us to plead with them as a group to allow for this.

Thanks for your consideration Smiley
