Thank Bill when you get a chance- if you can find time during your day of complaining about machine status and upgrades.

I didn't call this in yet:
Time Crisis 4; right/2P side coin slot will not accept credits, so you can only play 1P side.
Also, the difficulty is still too high.  Maybe I suck at shootan gaems, but I have to say the diff. level on 4 seems so much higher than the previous ones in the series.  And at $1 a pop I can't really get past the 2nd area of the 1st stage on one credit...my friend and I who usually play/beat all the other shooters you have just get discouraged and disinterested too quickly; the diff level is so high as to be unfun.
Any action you can take to lower the difficulty would be nice.

Oh, but the gun calibration is good now, so thanks for that.  Still wish they recoiled, though.

I noticed that TC4 was way harder than the previous games in the series as well. I can pretty much consistently 1CC 2 and 3, but that seems more or less impossible with TC4. I'm not sure if it's the difficulty settings, maybe the game has just gotten harder. I still enjoy it, though, but I can't see myself 1CCing it for a while. Tongue

I don't know, I guess I'm not used to spending more than $1 for a minute's worth of play time =P playing bemani has led me to balk at more then $.75 for 7 minutes or so of play time.
And TC4, if it is indeed on the default difficulty, is much harder than the previous iterations of the series; but I just wondered as to Bill's settings because I know when I played it in Japan I was able to beat it on around 6 credits (~$6).  And if Japan had it set to such a difficulty level..
Well, TC1 and TC2 are still my faves.

Even after you've been in Japan longer than I have, where almost everything costs 100 yen or more to play?  Tongue

Yeah but 100 yen is about equal to $.80.

DM's cymbal on the right is totally broken. No response to ANY hits. Had to play on auto-cymbal today... and the left side of DM's coin slot is jamming still; had to whack it a few times to get my quarters back as well as registered.

Not that much cheaper.  Considering some places charge 200 for the big bulky special controller games (i.e. all you ever see at US arcades anymore), it averages out.

Also, I bet anyone in America would think you're insane for charging that much to play a "traditional" joystick/button game.  Most people think 50 cents is pushing it for those types.

Well that's some places.  I was using my experience, which was that I could pay 100 yen ($.80) and get 4 normal stages or 2 bonus stages +extra stage=about 10 minutes of play, when in Japan.
Really, $.75 for 4 stages versus $.80 for 5 stages (including extra, excluding encore); that's what I call value.

And $.80 is $.20 cheaper than $1, which means in comparison to the 100yen=$1 comparison you gave I would get every 5th game free.  That can make a difference.

Granted, I don't really think about it too much.

As for the American mentality of what is a fair price to charge, well video game consoles are also cheaper in America than in Japan, and video games for those consoles as well, is my experience.  So there is a developed market price in Japan for gaming that is higher than in America.  There are many reasons for this I am certain; not least of which the higher cost of living there.

I will agree with you that the price of Bemani is comparable (or cheaper) in Japan at some places.  At Namco Land, I got 4 stages + possible extra on PNM Adventure, or 3 stages + ex on IIDX GOLD for 100 yen.

When you consider that they charge 100 yen or more for everything though (I think I saw one candy cab that was 50 yen my entire time there), my trips to Tokyo arcades were much more expensive per hour.  Also can't forget about those medal games, which eat up yen like nothing else.

Video game consoles are not cheaper in Japan.  For example, the Wii is 25,000 yen, which is well under $250.  Similarly, 100 Wii points cost less over there than here.  I believe the PS3 also uses the 100 yen to $1 price point, which would make it cheaper than its American counterpart as well.

Ah, my bad I wasn't thinking there.  Yes I will admit the hardware is cheaper (at least this generation), though part of that is intentional to drive sales (ie XBawks).  Hadn't thought of the virtual console aspects.  But I can confidently say the software is more expensive.

I went to Tukwila/Seattle for a weekend on a family trip.
The hotel I stayed at happened to be right across from Acme.

I stopped by around 8 or 9 on Monday.
Dude, you guys are hardcore players, I managed to get good scores (for myself) but not able to get any scores on.

My tag is DRS!  The only song I got a score on was Lemmings on The Run, doubles hard.  Otherwise, i did r21.

what's funny is that a vast majority of the single hard/expert high scores are from last year, haha

Well, the new Bemani isn't [soon], it's a nice DrumMania 10th mix, and GuitarFreaks 11th mix, blah blah...

Before it was a GF9/DM8, so technically the GF11/DM10 is new[er] than those.

I think what he meant is that the new(er) Bemani is no longer forthcoming, but it's there now, so this thread's name is a bit of a misnomer.

How did this thread become the new Acme thread anyway?  Since the new Bemani is now there, this thread's served its purpose.  Besides, do you guys like posting in a thread that has the original post that it does, instead of, um, actual information about Acme?  This may confuse what few newcomers we get here.

ITG2 right coin slot is eating everything you put in, without giving credits. And I don't like HOW LOUD POP'N IN BACK IN THE CORNER, AND YOU HAVE TO YELL TO TALK TO PEOPLE. Undecided

It's really odd; ACME's machines seem to have some bad coin slot issues.  Maybe Narrows has problems, I just never hear about those.

And yeah, PopN music is a bit loud.
