I thought I'd start a thread for this in case anyone wants to come and play. Here's an update on what's going on:

  • I spoke to both of my neighbors. One of them is hard of hearing, so I don't think this is going to be an issue for them. The other neighbor hasn't really gotten back to me but at the least isn't complaining. I am going to continue to try to reach her soon to work out some rules.
  • In general, I don't want people playing before noon and after ten. If my roommate is asleep even if it's like 4 PM then I also don't want people playing for obvious reasons.
  • I think I am going to require that people either wear socks or light shoes. I think this is an OK trade-off for free DDR.
  • Assuming the above rules are followed, you should be good to come over if I'm around. For those of you who don't know me, I might set up an email address or phone number specifically for this purpose. Please do not call me about this machine before 9 AM or after 10 PM.
  • If you're loud and obnoxious then obviously I can kick you out since it's my apartment. Generally just try to be respectful. Remember that other people live here, and having a machine here is a serious privilege that I am very thankful for and do not want to mess up.
  • I will never take money, but I will take parts for the machine and help fixing it up or cleaning it, or food and beer for other people who come over. Providing these things is not necessary but is highly appreciated.

Future projects!

  • I want to get this in doubles condition. The right side is good but the left is not. If you are willing to help me rework this a little then let me know.
  • I would also like to soundproof the living room a bit. Anyone who has some experience with this should definitely hit me up.
  • At some point I want to have a really ridiculous tournament. I am thinking something that we could never do in an arcade, like a drinking DDR tournament or a strip DDR tournament. I will still expect people to be respectful in the event that this happens. Any input is highly appreciated.

Finally, I am going to have the following mixes available:

- 3rdMIX Ver.KOREA2
- 3rdMIX PLUS
- 4thMIX PLUS
- 5thMIX
- MAX
- MAX2
- EXTREME
- EuroMix
- EuroMix2
- DS feat Disney's Rave
- DS feat DREAMS COME TRUE
- SOLO 2000

I'm not exactly sure where this is at, but assuming this is in the seattle area I'd love to come up and play!

I also play in frees so i'm very quiet. I have an ITG upgrade in my house and have worked MIRACLES on the pads, we had the same situation but I could definitely help out with the pad issues. Also foam modding helps with noise, pad sensitivity, and your knees. If you haven't already done this.

I'm very respectful when it comes to apartment things and would love to help out in any way I can, food, cleanings, pad work, ect.
i've always wanted to AAA a lot of these mixes or even play some of these mixes. ITG is great and we have all of DDR loaded on it but it's just not the same.

The tournaments sound FANTASTIC. Please make these happen.

I'm in Seattle proper. The Ravenna/Roosevelt area.

Also foam modding helps with noise, pad sensitivity, and your knees. If you haven't already done this.

I haven't, but I would love some help doing this. I've noticed my down arrow is particularly loud, haha.

If you want some advice on fixing the pads, check out the articles at the top of this website.

If anyone wants to come play tomorrow or Sunday during the afternoon, I should be around.

Still having ddr games going?
This sounds like fun. I go up to Ravenna occasionally. Would be fun to play ddr with a group.  I'm not the best, I can pass 7s or 8s on doubles. I used to be able to A alot of stuff back when USA mix came out on PS.

lol we play drunk ddr in the arcade here all the time.  basically works with any music game.  Drink one mixed drink or beer (beer is bad though) and play.  for every A in your total score you take a shot or drink/whatever.  so basically we are drunk after about 3 rounds and its way awesome

also ddr superdisc from sows i assume?

I just had a great idea.  If you wanna have a fun tournament, what about doing it the Saturday before Try To Quad (February 9th)?  That way, people can use it as a way to relieve OMG SERIOUS TOURNAMENT STRESS.  And also then that whole weekend would be like one big Bemani party.

Frankly, I'm just amazed that a DDR machine is working out in an apartment environment without the neighbors chasing you down wielding torches and pitchforks.

I tried to play on a soft pad in my old apartment, and the neighbors were at my door in under half an hour asking me to stop whatever the heck was going on.
