I wonder if the lag is worse than the euro version...I had 1 or 2 greats on quite a bit of stuff I played on the London cabinet so I'm sure that if the pads are fixed things aren't tooooo bad with the lag.

Hopefully Gameworks applies this patch.

Is the MvC thing Tatsunoko vs Capcom?  I read that some Gameworks have been getting Net City cabinets in along with some Viewlix.

Yup, that's it. A bunch of Net City cabinets with these in them. Still no TGM, but I can always wish Tongue.

Oh Psh!
Like they'll ever buy TGM.
Haha, but I kind a wish someplace in this state would DJ Max Technika, which is pretty unlikely. I'll keep wishing though.

Ok I've been going here for the past couple of days mainly because its closer to me than acme, and just to let everyone know, they fixed their pricing again. for example $20 gets you 100 credits. I think its a special going on right now, so its not too bad.
The only thing that's making me mad is that they still haven't fixed extreme, that and supernova is dying, slowly.......I really they fix it in time for the National tourny, otherwise we are gonna have one shitty tournament. The 2p side is basically dead, doubles is impossible. The 1p is in way better condition, but it does give plenty of greats and misses every know and again. Lets just say when I get 9 greats on an 8 footer, that's more or less a miracle on this machine.

I have hope though, because one of the employees was watching me play, and he asked me if I knew about the tournament, I said yes and told him the pads are not up to snuff, and he told me he'd let the tech know. Not that they are really gonna fix anything soon, at least they know. So I have some hope.......

I read that dukam0k has been showing up to fix the pads before some of the other tournaments that have happened, to make sure they are in working order.  So hopefully he makes it to the Seattle tournament.

So apparently theres a pad/hardware fix for the DDR X cabinets going out.  Some guy on DDROC posted this...

Ok, finally got my hands on the upgrade kits.  The sync issues are for the mostpart fixed by a new video board and a patch disc that was loaded.

The pad issues have been resolved...well, differently.  They sent out a kit that includes the instructions on removal of the plastic beads that they glued onto the sensors (which I'd already done because they were garbage) and then the addition of strips of what felt like sandpaper tape like what you'd find on a skateboard. The real winner was the think plates with indentions on them that go between the panels you see over the arrows and the actual sensors themselves.

The pad fixes seem to make them work as good if not better than the oldschool pads when they were in perfect condition.  I have to admit, I'm very impressed.  All that remains to be seen is if playwood pads can last nearly as long as their metal counterparts.

Also of note.  The pads that are now shipped with the more recent DDX cabinets are different than the orginal models.  I haven't made a complete list of the differences yet, but I got the opportunity to sit them down side by side and they aren't cut or painted the same under the sheetmetal at all.  I'm not sure if the change is material, improved design, or just someone else with an idea on how to put them together.

I'll just say I'm very pleased with the accuracy of the pads after the fix.  Time will tell if that lasts.

Hopefully Gameworks gets this.

DukAmok doesn't work for Konami anymore so the tourney will certainly be interesting. :x

Letting go of the guy who is an integral part in the successful running of the DDR National Tournament? Nice move Konami. I can't wait to see how the next regional competition goes.

This is really sad news Sad
I'm really more baffled as to why he was let go from konami rather than angry about it.
I just hope the rest of the tournies don't go down hill from here.

I really want to know what happened though, because it sounds like there might have been some drama behind it, who knows.

:C

I would assume that he was fired, but had to sign some kind of severance agreement wherein neither party can discuss that fact. He specifically says his termination was "not entirely voluntary" but "not entirely his fault," qualified by the fact that the latter was his -opinion- and not fact. I'm quite familiar with severance agreements and the way they require you to tiptoe around issues...

I understand what your saying, I just want to know what the reasoning behind it was.
Maybe they were having layoffs because of the economy etc....that sorta thing. it just doesn't make sense to fire the guy that's basically running the national tourny.

Major companies, and I'm pretty sure that Konami of America qualifies, are forced to publish that they're laying people off. I would assume that since none of us have heard anything of this, KoA is not doing any layoffs - although I suppose it's possible, since a recent forecast predicts an 82% decline in net income this year for Konami (though not specifically KoA).

I am guessing, and this is only a guess, that his employment was terminated for something that had to do with him being such a public persona. I mean, think about it - we can read his livejournal and find out that he was hired, terminated, etc. This can't be good for Konami, given that he is essentially a public representation of them. People have been "asked to leave" for blogging about much less than that, like this wonderful incident: http://slog.thestranger.com/2008/02/amazoncom_fires_stranger_blogger

Ok so I have some updates about this place your not gonna beleive!

DDR Supernova is still 5 songs.

hooray, but here's the big news!

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme is on.........and it works.

Positives:
3 songs (wish it would be 5)
1P side is AAA possible, with or without bar

I don't know.....the fact that it WORKS!

Negatives:
While 2P side is AA possible, Down sensor in the up arrow needs to be replaced
The unlock codes need to be put in again.

So it's basically super special awesome that it works, but they are a few cons. I commend gameworks for actually doing a pretty damn good job fixing it up. *applause*

And about the unlock codes. I'll talk to them the next time I'm there to see if they'll let me put them in.....I mean hell its not like they would even know so....

YAY! finally a decent Extreme machine around me
