We're at least another year off or so, but Washington will get its first Dave & Buster's location in Lynnwood. Residents of Snohomish county will finally have a local arcade destination, without the awful drive to Seattle. It'll open up just north of Alderwood mall in the new Lynnwood Place development, adjacent to a new Costco that will also be built.

Whoa, really interesting. That's a huge development on all that land. Killer location for a Costco (although I didn't know Lynnwood needed another Costco).

I also wonder how this will impact Family Fun Center in Edmonds.

I guess I know where I'll be playing games! I hope they have some decent DDR/ITG stuff.

Spoiler alert, that location is getting a pump machine. Every D & B I've been to has had a pump machine. Never seen a four panel machine.

Dave and Busters is a really neato place though; one just opened in Portland, and it's really great.

Damnit. I like PiU, but I much more prefer 4 panel. Oh well, at least it's a decent sized arcade for adults.

The Nashville D&B had DDR instead of pump. X I believe...

Oh nice, sounds like it's few and far between but this location may get lucky.

That original development document is offline, but I found it again.

Obviously we don't have a Dave & Busters' yet... I wonder if that's still in the works? There's no mention of it "coming soon" on the D&B website. I wonder if Round1's presence scared them off?

You made me think this was a new thread, though I suppose part of that is to be blamed on me not reading the thread title thoroughly Tongue.

According to the document you linked, construction was supposed to start in 2014 with the opening in early 2016. IMO, Round1 is a rather large distance away from SnoCo for casual arcade players (takes me around an hour to get there, depending on traffic, but I don't call myself casual), so I'm not sure if that was really a factor.

this isn't really evidence of anything but it's interesting that the president of round one checked out alderwood after this was planned (and didn't find the time to scope out how SCM was doing somehow idfk lol)
(happened much earlier this year)

As someone who lives up north, it is very frustrating how much of the entertainment crap gets built down south. Alderwood (hell, even Northgate) isn't a low-population area. I'm really surprised we don't have anything like a Dave & Busters or Round 1 up this way. If the population at Buffalo Wild Wings is any decent indicator, there's definitely a plethora of people to draw from to support these businesses.

After playing DDR A at Round 1, I have the desire to play it more, but driving down there from Mukilteo is loltastic. IF (that's a BIG "IF") there's no traffic, I can get down there in about 40 minutes. With traffic it can take 2 hours. I just can't make it a regular thing. If something like it got built at Alderwood though? That's a different story!

Anyways, we still have 20+ days left for them to zone, construct and open a Dave & Busters in Lynnwood. ::crosses fingers::

Updated news! This was from a few weeks ago

http://www.heraldnet.com/business/sporting-goods-store-restaurant-to-replace-sears-at-mall/

Quote
Texas-based Cypress Equities built the Costco at 18109 33rd Ave. W two years ago and planned a second phase of the development with hundreds of apartments, retail and restaurants. But Hall said that Cypress Equities walked away from that project a year ago. And now Dave &Busters is looking to land at Alderwood.

Quote
The 178,000-square-foot Sears shut down earlier this year. General Growth Partners, a Chicago company that owns the mall, is redeveloping the site with joint venture partner Seritage.

The idea is to make the former Sears location an outdoor village, much like what Alderwood has done with the north end of the mall, near the P.F. Chang’s restaurant.

Initial plans call for a 40,000-square-foot building to house Dave &Busters and a 70,000-square-foot, two-story building to house what is expected to be Dick’s Sporting Goods, Hall said.

I can only hope. Owning my own machine is nice, but getting to hang out and play against others is where the fun really is. I enjoyed what I've played of DDR A while in Japan and visiting South Center, but getting down south from Everett is just too much a PITA. Having it in Lynnwood would be awesome.

It would be awesome to get a D&B there along with some rhythm games in the next year. I'd undoubtedly start going there at least once a week : ]

The traffic getting there would be less hassle (for me) than trying to drive through downtown Seattle on I-5, that's for sure.  Though lately I've been going to ACME for my arrow stomping needs, as that machine is generally unoccupied at the times I want to play, whereas there are frequently a couple of other groups playing DDR A at Round 1.  Takes too long to get enough games in that way.  Traffic's not any better than going to Round 1, of course.

Dave and Busters is now listed on the Alterwood Mall website as "Coming Soon"

https://www.alderwoodmall.com/en/directory/store_opening/

And according to this article, might open with this year or next.

In addition, Irwin provided an update on Avalon Alderwood, the mall’s expansion project on the site of the former Sears building. The project includes two, six-story multi-family apartment buildings with a total of 328 residential units and 90,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor. Construction was briefly halted due to the stay-home order, but Irwin said crews are working to meet the 2022 deadline.

“The project was delayed about two months due to COVID, but they’re doing I think a great job catching up,” he said.

Construction on the residential spaces is expected to be back on schedule in the third quarter of 2021 with some retail opening around 2021-22, Irwin said.

The development will also include spaces for additional restaurants, including a Dave & Busters located near the south apartment tower.

Good sleuthing. I know they had this planned YEARS ago, but then it disappeared. I am looking forward to seeing if this comes to fruition.

Looking at the machines other D&B have on ZiV, looks like the only music games that this might see would be:
DanceDanceRevolution A20
and/or
Pump It Up XX

DDR A20 would be perfectly acceptable IMO. It'd be nice to have an arcade location I could attend that wasn't 45 minutes away.

Sad news. I don't think this is happening anymore. There's a large Home Depot where the D&B was originally supposed to be in the plans, and the second location by the Alderwood Mall Sears would mean that it should still be on the Alderwood Mall website... but it has been removed from the "coming soon" part of the store listings.

I don't see any mention of it on the D&B website either. It's looking like they abandoned this one.

Definitely a disappointment, but I can't say I'm surprised. After 2020 and the stay at home directives, I would imagine their business and profits got hit hard. I doubt they have any plans to expand right now.

IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!!

Job posting are live for the Lynnwood location - so it's probably opening soon!

Dr. Z sent me a photo and the logo is up on the building too!!!

(wow, this was like 7 years in the making. Granted COVID, but lots of other challenges happened before 2020 to this...)

Wow! I can't believe this is still happening - I thought they just shifted gears to Bellevue.
