ITG seemed perfect to me today! No lag whatsoever. The pads were really really nice, too...Cheesy

When the new ball tops for the sticks and buttons arrive Bill, when do you want to meet to pick them up? I can either get to a location of your choice or just meet at Acme or something if you're sending out a tech that way anyway. These should be really nice, they are the OEM buttons used on most Japanese cabinets but with a screw-in design so as to fit American thicker control panels. The ball tops are also shiny and probably better coordinated with the buttons than the stock ones that come with the sticks.

Kevin,
Cool!  Let us know when it all arrives, and we will reimburse you.  You can meet up with the techs when it's ready to go down.
Glad ITG is running well now.  Hopefully it will hold up.

...I assume that screw ins are what the TGM cabinet uses, right? I could have bought a set of snap ins instead but I think the panel on the TGM cabinet is too thick for those to work.

Dude, just buy some fans for your case. If you have to use compressed air to stop your framerate from dropping, you're doing it wrong.

Haha, no, the compressed air wasn't for cooling as the can was used. I used it to blow off the thick blanket of dust that had accumulated on the CPU's heatsink. The CPU temp dropped by about 50 degrees F (literally, 210->160) when I cleaned the dust off, and the temperature stayed low(er).

When Stan and I opened up the ITG machine last week, it was absolutely caked with dust everywhere--far worse than my home PC. We blew the dust we could reach (with my lungs), but I think there was still some more in the actual enclosure inside the cabinet.

I played friday night, and the framerate issue was entirely resolved, thanks mvco!

On a side note, one of the panels on the 1P side is showing early signs of failure. I think it's the up arrow, but I'm not quite sure, it just tends to miss one step in 500 or so for me. I think it's the up arrow, but I'm not quite sure. I'll see if I can nail it down next time I go.

Kevin, I'm not sure what style Sanwa's are in there?  George at our shop would know as he installed them.

Attention Bill!

The buttons and new tops for sticks are here! Just arrived today. Does Sunday sound like a good day to hand over/install the goods? I am not available any sooner, unfortunately.

Kevin,
Sunday could work.  Remind me Saturday, and I will give you the Sunday tech's cell number, and you can talk with him directly about a meeting time in between his rounds.

Hi there, I was just at acme bowl today, ITG2 machine was working fine.
I was just wondering if maybe you guys could turn up the volume slightly, because the sound gets washed out when everything else is going it seems. maybe I just have terrible hearing, who knows. Pweease?  Grin
I'm fine with it at the current volume level, it would just be nice to have it a teeny bit louder.

Oh and I'm totally in love with BlazBlue, omg that's such a fun game. Not to mention a very nice looking cabinet.

nice to see Kevin again(ddr that is). I think i saw Keby playing BlazBlue but im not sure. Today i did great compared to my last trip. I can actually get 97s on expert songs and stuffz. Anyways, itg2 seemed to work fine, didn't eat my coins. DDRMAX2 was jammed and I think supernova was also but i didn't try.

I'm amazed that no one else seems to be having issues with the 1P DOWN arrow on ITG2. Two friends and myself have been having constant problems with it. It will miss at least 1 out of ever 500 steps. And no, it isn't my imagination because I had a FFC on Cryosleep (Hard) and right in the middle of the song, MISS. It was the down arrow and I hit it dead on. No questions about it. This isn't the only time it has happened, but it is certainly the most conclusive. I'm also suspicious that the right arrow was acting up too.

I did the "toe test" to see if a sensor was weak or dead, and it seems perfectly responsive. If it isn't a sensor, then I would imagine it's either A) a bracket problem, with the bracket getting stuck once in a while. Or B) something to do with the wiring. I had this happen at a local arcade in Pullman. The wire was worn and the insulation rubbed off so once in a while the wire may contact some metal on the machine, causing the arrow to either spaz out, or not respond at all.

I hope this info helps you out.

Suko, we did run a test, and everything looks good.  They also got vacuumed out since the pad panels were off anyway.  keep us posted, of course.

I was gonna say, I didn't notice any problems on the 1P side when I was playing yesterday and I managed a solid 92 on Summer Expert and a 15 excellent FEC on Spin Chicken so I'm not really sure if there's any serious problems. Maybe you should step harder? Not really sure here; my playstyle is pretty light and I'm usually the first to whine about stuff not working.

I've had problems with that same arrow.  Most of the time it works fine, then every now and then it will just not respond.  It's entirely possible that I just need to be more accurate, but I've definitely noticed that arrow (and specifically the upper sensor on the arrow) being sketchy.

when I was there this past Saturday It was working fine for me. My play style is a bit heavier though since I'm light anyway.

I'm 6'7" and 215 lbs. I promise you I'm putting plenty of pressure on it when I step.

It seems like it could be a bracket problem, because using the toe test, all the sensors in the panel seemed to work fine. However, randomly on some songs I would get a complete miss when I was dead on. This is likely because the bracket gets stuck in the down position, and then when you step again, it misses a step, but the bracket gets knocked loose again. This is probably why it only misses one step out of 500 or so. Again, this may be why I am having trouble with it. Maybe because I am bigger, I'm putting more pressure on it than most normal people. My buddies and I are all 6' or taller, so that may be why we three seem to notice it far more than anyone else.

But I haven't been since Saturday. I'll harp up again if it's still giving us trouble the next time we go.

I remember a while ago the 1p down arrow was completely terrible for a couple days (like I-can't-FC-6's terrible). What was that caused by and how was it fixed? That might help diagnose the present problem that Suko's having.

I was able to identify the problem with the pads at Clackamas Town Center fairly easily by just watching the pad.  I noticed that the buttons stayed on sometimes when pressed.

You guys might want to just replace the metal spring plates that the panel sits on or otherwise reduce the typical pressure.  If you have foam around the panels, you can try replacing it with something of a lighter density.  It could also be a matter of static cling, probably coming from the sensor if so.  I doubt it's that, but it's something to check.

Bill:

As per agreed with Stan, the Sanwa buttons are now at Acme in a bag marked with Masterman Vending. They should be available on request from management or something to that effect.

Bill, has there been any word on a US DDR X release???

http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5/viewpicture.php?pictureid=5704

Conversion cabs just came out in China, so it looks like Konami is getting around to international releases now.

Kevin,
Thx for the buttons.  George was just leaving to install them tonight.
DDR X, oh boy.  Am hearing that it's somewhat of a pig, but will still be released soon.  It's too bad Konami's U.S marketing agreement is so messed up.  Will make it tough for this game to enjoy any real significant market penetration.

Yeah, I'm absolutely frustrated with Konami's marketing philosophy in the US. Why they couldn't have just released a translated version of the Japanese game already and called it good (like they did with SuperNova) is beyond me. Guess they believe that we just don't care at all about the quality of the games they send over here.

Thanks Bill for the installation! They'll certainly get tested at the meeting on Sunday, that's for sure...expect some good coin drop that night! Tongue
