I'll see what I can do about taking a look today. I'm not sure what would suddenly run it out of memory if that is the issue, since it was running fine before and nothing's been added for a couple weeks. If it's GNOME related, I'll probably need to pull the computer for a day for an OS reinstall, since that's a low-enough level component that any fix will probably introduce other problems.

Could you keep us posted about the machine? Don't want to make the trip to ACME just to turn back around haha. Thanks!

Just got back from Acme, had to pull the computer. Seems like some configuration file got corrupted or something like that (it's not an error that I've seen before, but the messaging points to this) - there's a good chance it's a quick fix (haven't checked Google yet), but if it's not, then we're looking at a fresh OS image. I will hopefully be able to run the computer back in working condition tomorrow after I get home from work; I will post again before I run down to reinstall the computer.

Whatever got corrupted is keeping me from even getting logged in to the computer, which is making it tricky to actually resolve. The error is happening somewhere between GNOME (the desktop manager) and X (the graphics manager). Given that I can't do much, and those are terrible components to debug, I'm going to focus my efforts on getting the Debian drive up and running, since it's close to done and the alternative is honestly a full reinstall of Ubuntu, which is going to take longer. Very unlikely I can get the machine back running before Acme closes tonight, but I'm aiming to have the computer working again tonight, with the computer going back in sometime tomorrow evening if all goes well.

No option to boot into single user mode off the install media?   You can do that with Red Hat, don't know if you can with Ubuntu but would be surprised if you couldn't.  (Red Hat calls it Rescue Mode.)

Hey everyone. I know that Chromatic has been on the Acme ITG2 machine for ages. It's a good, functional theme, but I thought it might be nice to try something a bit different. As such, I've uploaded a version of the ITG3 theme that I've modified and been using on my dedicab.

What's modified? Some minor graphical stuff to see things on the song wheel better, a couple extra speed mods and mini options, some sound tweaks (got rid of the horrid music wheel change SFX), and I added the song folder display at the top of the screen. This theme also has some nice operator menu options that allow you to adjust music wheel speed (I prefer the middle option) and it also has an awesome real-time score tracker that displays how many Fantastics/Excellents/Other steps you have while you play through a song.

Also, this theme is a lot cleaner and more aesthetically engaging than most ITG themes and could make it easier for the non-hardcore players to understand the game and navigate it. Also, if you want to know how many hands/holds/etc a song has, just hold the red button.

Anyways, here's the link. Perhaps Tony can put it onto the machine while he's fixing it and you all can give your feedback. (Note to Tony: If you already have the ITG3 theme on the machine, I'd rename its folder or replace it with this one (this one is much newer). When you are selecting the theme in the operator menu, choose mod-ITG3. If you choose regular ITG3, you will likely not get all the additions I've made.)

Thanks to a lot of help from Vyhd, I've got the Debian drive running OITG in what seems to be a ready-to-go state. Ideally I'd take a little more time to test it out, but getting the computer back to Acme is a priority.

I have some commitments today, but I'm trying to work my schedule such that I can make it down there and slap the computer back in, so that people can start playing again. Worst case, I'll run out first thing tomorrow morning, but hopefully I'll be able to make it down there in the early afternoon today.

Couldn't make it yesterday, will be heading toward Acme today before too much longer. I'll post again once the machine is back up and running.

ITG currently crashes if you try to play a song, so I pulled the computer. Oddly, it wasn't doing this to me when I was testing it at home. Will try to figure out what's up and get the computer back for another test run before the day is through.

I'm just assuming the machine won't be back up tomorrow.  Sad

When could we expect the game to be up and running again?  Roll Eyes

Thanks again for your work Tony!

It's not that hard to learn! There are a lot of fun, easy songs to help you get used to the panel layout, after that it doesn't take too long to move to the harder stuff.

Yea but when you've played 4-panel competitively for years, 5-panel's style really isn't as appealing, not to mention the lack of song selection compared to on ITG...

Seriously though this is the longest the Acme machine has been broken in my recollection of many years of play... Please tell me it's going to be fixed soon... Our last status update was days ago and we're all being left hanging here...
