Didn't see the DM at ACME today; Bill let us know what's going on if you get a chance.  Thanks,
Chris

The DM has died, yet again.  We have been fighting it lately.  back at our shop now, and we will post error messages next week to see if anyone here that reads Japanese can tell us what it is saying.  But I have a bad feeling that the DM days may be ending if this thing needs major help.  ARGH!

Once again, if I had a screenshot (I'm not sure I'll be making it down to ACME any time soon), I could probably translate.

I didn't see it mentioned, so thought I'd post that you can still use the left slot to insert quarters.  It's a bit finicky, but it does work.  It used to eat my quarters, until I figured out the trick to get it working.

If you enter the quarters slowly and deliberately, it will usually accept it without problems.

If you don't hear it chime, then the quarter got stuck.  If you enter another quarter it might eat them both for 1 credit, so don't do that.

You need to slightly depress the slot (pressing it all the way will eject the quarter, but slightly depressing it will usually let the quarter fall in and the machine will chime).  I like to slightly depress it quickly, cause the quarter is more likely to register and it's faster to do it many times.

(actually today, I found someone managed to stick 3 quarters into the machine without credit, yay almost a free game... then the next game I immediately failed a mislabeled 9, booo!)

Bummer Bill.  I am certain Tada will be able to help if one can, but I may try to take a look at it (the Japanese) as well.

I am trying to share the image on the DM screen.  Will see if this works.

Bottom (which is just a PlayStation 2 main menu without a disc in, with the text in Japanese):

This means most likely that the hard drive has bit the dust. Did you ever remove it from the machine? I hear that that kills GFDM V-V3 harddrives.

No have not removed the hard drive.  RIP Drum Mania!

I guess it had to happen eventually, though...

Maybe we can get a DDR Extreme in its place? Grin

At least there's room for that TechnoMotion machine we've all been asking for. Cheesy

Well it's been a good run, Bill.  Thanks for keeping the DM going as long as you did.  Guess I'm going to be making more trips up to Vancouver, B.C. from now on!

This sucks, we will miss the DM.  But it should be staying in the local community, as someone who posts here on occasion is the lucky new owner, and knowing him, he will have it running soon.  :-)

I obviously don't want to stop anyone from going to Acme, but I should remind people that there is a Drummania over at Gameworks currently that is in fairly good condition. If something is wrong with it, complain to the two techs there (Eli and Richard), and it should get taken care of. I just wish I could have got to Acme more while V3 was still there. Still, what Bill said is right and I'm sure we'll see it again soon Wink

Oh...I would have been interested in bidding on it.  Guess I'm not well connected enough.

Not really a fan of Gameworks; strange as it sounds, I am more inclined to drive the distance to B.C., than drive to downtown Seattle.

OK that's a bit of an exaggeration...guess I'm just royally bummed right now.  But I end up being in Bellingham once or twice a month anyhow, so that's why I don't feel like Vancouver is all that far.

Chris has second dibs on the DM if the original deal does not go through.

Tony, if you happen to be near Acme, see if you know what the error code is on ITG today.  Game is down, and our lead tech is not in until Monday.  Reboots bring it back to the same error.

Many thanks to Gerrack!  He brought a keyboard and was able to resurrect the ITG.  thanks much for that!  Remind me I owe you some free credits when I see you.  :-)

Oh I never said this but I intended to, to elaborate:

The ITG machine was giving an error when it booted, but it was very small (looked like a small syntax error, but Tony said it was something with an improper shutdown). In any case it can be fixed by plugging in a keyboard into the front slot and hitting "I" to ignore the error.

Well Acme had a keyboard I had them dig out and keep up front, but it broke somehow so in a fit of rage I bought a cheap new one (my home one's a gaming keyboard and requires software to use). I left it at the front desk with a note on it, so should anyone have this problem again where it's stuck on an Ubuntu error screen, just ask them for the keyboard, plug it in, and push I and it'll work fine.

Hope that helps Smiley

Wait, don't you need to open the coin thing to plug it in? They said they don't have the keys for that so that means we'd have to get a tech all the way up there just to open it lol

You can plug in a keyboard directly into the USB ports on the front of the machine.

I thought that thing was fried? Unless it just doesn't work for flash drives then ok it makes sense

The problem with the USB ports is entirely software related, and has to do with how the OS Tony put on the new machine and OpenITG both handle USB. When you boot the machine, the OS isn't loaded yet, so you can use a keyboard with those ports just fine.

WOW I could've fixed it then because I asked the front if they had a USB keyboard and they said yes. I thought those slots were unusable.
