On the subject of you returning, is there any chance of putting Mad Matt's newly released Final Fantasy Tactics theme on the ITG machine? It looks pretty promising Grin
ITG Tactics Theme released!

I love the tactics theme, but we need the theme switcher before we do that.

This will put any person other than regulars into a state of "WTF?!" when they try to play.

Theme switcher...trying to figure out how to get it to work but once I do I'll be sure to add it. I'm going to Acme at least once every week now so I don't think I'll have trouble finding time to do it. Long live Masterman Vending! Long live Acme Bowl!

Tuan: Yeah, getting back into dancing games again and also probably continuing to play Drummania. PG was much more convenient for me to get to than Acme, but I'm glad to be able to support Bill again. Cheesy I might also get back into Maximum Tune, but that game takes a lot of time!

Yeah, I've been struggling with this myself. The theme switcher part is easy, but my problem is; If I have the ITG3 theme load with startup, than any theme I switch to after that has crashes and problems. Conversely, if I startup with the standard ITG2 theme, then I can switch to any other theme and it works just fine.

Haven't been to acme in forever but plan to sometime this week(hopefully). How is the precious ITG2(or 3) machine?

Actually, I went there earlier tonight and noticed a much less sensitive Left Arrow on the Player1 side of the InTheGroove3 machine compared to every other arrow. Player2 side's great as usual, especially with the new less-wobbly bar.

Guys I keep forgetting to look, but is this machine on Beta 2 of ITG3 or Beta 3?
Beta 3 has more arrow skins and a more stable build of OpenITG.
That and some more options for the operators menu.
Kevin I'm wondering if you would be able to put it on there.

Keby, next time you're at Toms, test out Mini. On my machine, it (seems) to always make it the same size, regardless of which "-" option I choose. Tom and I are running the same version of the ITG3 theme, so if it's happening on mine, then it should be happening on his too.

Was good seeing you tonight Dr.Z, it's good to see familiar faces since returning recently. From where can one obtain open itg beta 3?

I will possibly be coming to ACME after work Saturday night (near 12 or so hopefully) to run a set or two, hope to see any of you there.

Likewise, nice seein ya, Nimm. It may be more than a week before I make it back to Acme though, with Christmas this next weekend.

Beta 3 appears to be HERE.

Bill, any plans on getting DDR X2?  I'm interested in how they fixed the pads on the new cabinets.

I have thought about it, but am hoping to find a kit for an older cabinet where the sensor issues would be predictable.  I have a hard time trusting these new stages.

Hey guys, just checking in: how would people feel about a major ITG content update soon? The only problem is that it *might* wipe the machine records. I don't know if people care about that, or if it's really a showstopper. Of course, I'd make a full drive backup before testing so that it would be a piece of cake to revert, but I'm just wondering if people would actually object to that. This includes step fixes for the ITG3 doubles charts, syncing fixes, extra songs, mods, and themes.

Just a quick update in here: the machine update will still be happening, but I found a potentially abusable bug involving the theme switcher built into one of the themes I had planned on adding, so I'm working on fixing the metrics for that right now.

The machine has scores from years ago that are huge motivators for some of us to try to beat, along with a few scores I'd rather not have to make again (the 4 100s I have on the machine for instance). I would say find a way to make any changes without wiping the scores on the machine or don't bother with new content, as the slight benefit wouldn't outweigh the cost of some of the hard work we've put in on scores. New songs and syncing old ones shouldn't affect the scores, and that's the main thing we need changed anyway.

There's an easy way to save scores!
Kevin just grab a USB your not using and transfer all the machine scores onto that USB.
Then apply whatever update you want and then you can just put the machine scores back on there and all is well Cheesy

My machine has always been flaky about this. I've tried to backup scores in the past, but with little success. I don't know what Kevin has planned for the Acme machine, but short of replacing the HDD, it shouldn't be difficult to retain the scores on that machine.

It might be worth trying out, since you'll have a hard drive backup and would be able to revert if the new content wipes the scores, but would the hard drive backup also restore the scores?

I'll be going in this evening near 7pm to begin if anyone is thinking of coming

I got to try out the different airhockey machine a few weeks ago.

The old machine would constantly have the puck flying off of the table, but not once did it fly off on this table. Airflow was good, table was solid, however the sound effect of the puck hitting the sides got really annoying quick.

I'd definitely say it was an upgrade minus the sound effects. Smiley  The old machine wasn't bad by any means.

Maybe we need to turn that sound down a bit.  I thought it was annoying as well when I was working up there last week.
FYI:  the USB slots were replaced last week on ITG.  However, they are now reveresed, 1 player side must use 2nd player USB port.  ARGH!  I wonder if there is a way within the game program to reverse this?

I tried the new USB slots last night. Other than being reversed, which by the way is strange because their not in upside down this time, they seem to generally be more reliable at reading cards and loading all one's songs. I don't think I saw any of the bugs yesterday that come up from time to time. I'll try again today and post up if I see anything to be alarmed about. So thank you very much for the new drives, seem so far to be working great! ^ ^

Also, and it's been posted before, but I was hoping someone could take a look at the coin slots, especially the right one. The right one is notorious for eating tons of quarters (like probably 25-50% of the quarters you put in it). All the regular players know to use the 1p side, but it would still be nice on the times it slips your mind or for the randoms who don't know any better. The left side occasionally eats them as well, but this is more like a 5% chance at most. A reminder to all as well to never put in quarters during loading screens, as this is also an automatic loss of your quarter regardless of side (which is a software, not hardware problem). Thanks!

I have to also say the USB slots seem very reliable compared to before, until now, I did not know the usb system was changed, but notice more reliable reads than earlier.

Something to keep in mind, after 1-2 sets with 2 players at a time on Saturday, I noticed the pad mechanism as a whole, seemed to slide. Some say that the right side came forward, while the other half say the left side came back. Either way, it seemed a good deal turned. instead of looking like an II from a top view, it looked like I\
II - normal from top view
I\ - pads slid a bit

I hope that makes some sense.

Perhaps the grips or whatever part of the metal pads contact the ground may be slipping a bit more than normal. However today, I didn't notice the problem going solo.

Just giving the heads up I'll be at acme tonight near 7 if anyone wants to join. Smiley
