It's almost time for the tournament! Some details for the day of:
- Doors open at 10 AM, tournament starts at 11 AM. Please be at The Nest at 11!
- We have a parking lot at the south end of the building with a few spots. These will likely fill up quickly, but street parking is also available west of Aurora Ave. If you're driving, give yourself time to find a spot. The parking garage below the building is for residents only. Please do not park there.
- During the tournament, a few other machines will be available for free-play. The 9-panel Stepmania machine in the front room will be on, which you can use to stay warm between sets. Jubeat and Crossbeats will be enabled, with headphone support only. All other machines will be off.

**Tournament Afterparty!**
After the tournament is over, we will have a post-tournament dinner/afterparty at Optimism Brewing Company in Capitol Hill! We have a table booked starting at 7:30. If the tournament finishes before 7, I'll keep the games on free play at The Nest until then.
- Optimism is NOT within walking distance of The Nest, so you may want to coordinate a ride ahead of time. I recommend splitting a Lyft/Uber if you can, since parking on Capitol Hill can be difficult on weekends.
- Optimism does not serve food, but they allow outside food and usually have a food truck on premises. There are plenty of good dinner options within a few blocks, including Sizzle Pie, Katsu Burger, Marination Station, Bok A Bok Fried Chicken, and Chipotle.
- Don't feel pressured to drink! We picked Optimism for their capacity to handle large groups; you are welcome even if you don't plan on drinking.

Oh, I thought a movie theater was a requirement.

Lloyd Center is a terrible location - no one wants to go there as evidenced by how the mall is *still* slowly dying even with the attempts at renovation.  Washington Square or Clackamas Town Center would really be better but the latter, as I said earlier, already has D&B.  Round1 would probably be possible at the old Sears location in WashSq but the only restaurant close by is Din Tai Fung and it's at the awkward end of the mall with no foot traffic.

Good point - I didn't even know that a movie theater was a requirement.  I think Clackamas Town Center is the only mall left with a movie theater and that already has the D&B.

Yeah, Round 1s have strict requirements for locations, apparently, the requirements are: the population the mall serves and having other mall amenities.

The page with the requirements is here: https://www.round1usa.com/real-estate-information/

But these are the main requirements for Round 1s.

  • At least 150,000 population within 5 miles, 400,000 population within 10 miles, and 600,000 population within 20 miles.
  • Needs to be in enclosed super regional malls with more than 800,000 sqft GLA.
  • Must have direct access from parking lot and inside of the mall.
  • Having a movie theater is a plus.
  • Being close to food court is a plus.
  • 400-500 Parking Space (can be shared)

I really thought Lloyd Center would be a perfect location for a Round 1, especially with the giant remodeling they've been doing recently, but again one in Vancouver is still super close and much better than driving the 3.5hrs-ish to Tukwila, WA from Portland.

So another Round 1 location is coming to Oregon! It will be so nice to have multiple Bemani locations again in Oregon with this location as well as the planned Vancouver, WA location!

Here is the news article about it: https://kval.com/news/local/amusement-center-with-bowling-alley-coming-to-valley-river-center-forever-21-to-expand

The Eugene location is also listed on the official Round 1 website: https://www.round1usa.com/location/

EDIT: Eugene Round1 is now open!

They have:
  • beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE (LIGHTNING MODEL) - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • SOUND VOLTEX VIVID WAVE [x2]
  • DANCERUSH STARDOM [x2] - 6.4 credits / 2 songs
  • GITADORA NEX+AGE DrumMania - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • GITADORA NEX+AGE GuitarFreaks - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • Groove Coaster 4EX: Infinity Highway [x2] - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • maimai FiNALE (offline) - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • Pump It Up XX - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • WACCA S - 6.4 credits / 3 songs
  • crossbeats REV. Sunrise [x2] - 6.4 credits / 3 songs

Note: Credits cost different depending on what packages/bundles, and what level R1 membership you have. For 2017 prices as for an example, $5 is 20 credits ($0.25 per credit), but if you spend $30 you get 150 credits ($0.20 per credit). Then if you are an R1 Club Member you get about a dollar off on packages above $5. So if you buy the $30 package, 6.4 credits will be about $1.28 and $1.60 if you just buy $5 at a time.
