I think DJMAX and Exceed Portable are the only good PSP games. Though I messed up my devhook a while ago. I need to look into these new custom firmwares.

i am down with this stuff... if you want me to help you downgrade and install customfirmware just ask and i will assist... i have been up to date will all of the new custom firmware releases.

+ Run psp iso's straight from memstick without patching or using devhook
+ Run converted (can be compressed) ps1 iso's (3.02 OE-A +)
+ Can be recovered if Bricked
+ Can be modified using Xflash (3.03 OE-C isnt compatible with current xflash releases)
+ Run Homebrew
+ Plugin support

- can be bricked if not careful with upgrading
- not enough people use it hahahah

Edit: you have a working iso of DJMAX?  if so can i uh... trouble you for a dvd with the iso/cso Smiley
i will burn you my collection of psp stuff if you do

I'm at 1.5 right now. Can you just link me to the installer for the custom one or is it some long process?

Oh and I actually own DJMAX. Bought it before people could bypass needing new firmware. Tongue

oh well it was worth a try...

to upgrade from 1.5 to custom 3.0X you must have the upgrader required (comes in a zip file), the updater for 1.5 (named 105.pbp), updater for 3.0X (which ever one you are upgrading to be it 3.01, 3.02, 3.03 named 30X.pbp (X= firmware lol)).

you will put the 2 update files properly named in the OEupdatemaker program which will dump the udpates and create a .DXAR file... you will then copy the OEflasher program to your memstick in the proper directory for homebrew and run it with the .DXAR file made by the OEupdatemaker program.
It will then warn you about the possibility of bricking your psp... if you trust what you did is right then go ahead and continue... it will write the stuff to flash and then turn of the psp.  when you turn it back on it will be the custom firmware... you can find everything on dl.qj.net and info at pspupdates.qj.net

and no this isnt a copy pasta... i am down with the psp scene Smiley

http://dl.qj.net/3.03-OE-C-by-Dark_AleX-Hacks-Exploits-PSP/pg/12/fid/12396/catid/114

You download the 1.5 and 3.03 firmwares, put them with OEUPDMAKER and run it on the psp and it makes a DATA.DXAR.
You take the data file and put it into a different folder then run that on the psp, and it'll flash it for you.

The readme in the file is very thorough. You can also play any old psx game isos you have using popstation to convert them to the PSP's emulator format.

http://pspupdates.qj.net/ is the best PSP homebrew/hack news site (if you don't visit it already).

3.03 OE-B. I don't have any need for OE-C so I'll just wait until I do or another major update comes out.

I'm tempted to steal my friend's PSP and get Me And My Katamari, just to see if it's good enough to shell out a couple bucks on a used PSP for.

I've noticed that the games for them all just suck; it's not that the system itself sucks.
So perhaps it's just a matter of waiting for someone to make a really decent game for it.

no there are some really good games on it.

Ys: The Ark of Naphistm (port of ps2), PIU, Taiko no tatsujin 1 and 2, Generation of Chaos, Loco Roco, Legend of Heroes1 2 & 3, and Breath of Fire 3 (exact port of ps1)

Cool.  I'll see if Steve can find another one for $20.
I don't care about the internet part; I have a lappy. =)
Really, I just want to have something lighter than my lappy and better than my camera to share my vids and songs on, and if it happens to have a few good games for it, I figure it's worth a bit, although not $200.
