January 31, 2007, 01:48:19 PM - ORIGINAL POST -

This thread had to start some time.  Although I've seen exactly zero people post that didn't already talk to eachother already, the aim is to have more people show up, right?  Yes.

About me.

name: James
age: too old
how to find me: I'm 5'9 and half asian.  Like everybody else at ACME, but whatever Smiley
I show up at ACME bowl every now and then.
I like DDR more than ITG for the most part but give both equal playtime, and also I play a lot of IIDX at home, it's a great game.
I am what can be generalized as a "scorer." That is, I play to get the highest score possible on everything.
My tag is "5DAI" on ITG/IIDX or "GODAI" on DDR usually.  Sometimes other names if I feel like it.
I am a pretty darn good simfile maker (as judged by me) but don't make a whole lot due to time constraints.  I take requests but they don't get fulfilled a lot for the same reason.

Nice to meet you.

Hey i'm ronnie. I'm one of the regulars at evergreen. Usually there once or twice a week depending on work since I do overnight. But I do play whenever I get the chance.

Hey, I'm Gabriel and I'm 18(though I look younger) and I don't quite live in Seattle yet but I visit pretty often and have been desperately looking for a ddr/itg community and New Mexico is beyond dead. I started playing when I was 12, I got decent by normal people standards but became incredibly out of practice after my home pad broke :/  So I guess if you guys ever see a little rainbow-dreaded kid running around with metal in his face at an arcade this summer it'll probably be me :p

Hey, I played DDR at pink godzilla last night and saw the tournament bracket. So with a little research here I am. I just got back from Iraq I'm stationed at Ft. Lewis, and come from texas, houston to be exact. I used to play DDR a little, but never was great at it. Anyway, I think I'd like to get back into it. I usually go bowling at narrows go figure, but I honestly don't like playing on ITG or super nova machines. I feel the game has really gotten watered down past extreme. I can't think of anything besides the fact that I collect a shit ton of retro video games. Oh yeah, and my name is ray!

Welcome to the forums, Ray!

Pink Gorilla in Seattle has some old and retro arcade games, and might be worth checking out.
Also, SuperNova2 is a pretty good mix that doesn't have the problems SN1 and X did. It's the best mix since Extreme, that's for sure. Smiley

Well, I've known about pink gorilla for a few years prior to the name change. They didn't have the UD location before I left for Iraq though. It is nice to see a good retro/japanese exclusive arcade though.

I'm for Brazil, so I never played in a US arcade... And DDR's so hard to see in Brazil, sadly... PIU domains in malls and arcades. So, I love DDR series, and uses StepMania to play DDR on my PC...  Sorry for my very bad english...

Well I'm not really very vocal here in the forums, however I do occasionally talk to people here and there. The name is Steven and I live in Washington near Olympia, I'm a rabid (yes that is intentional) DDR and Bemani fan. I have progressed from being crazy about DDR to being Crazy about Drummania (again) and Beatmania IIDX. I've started collecting the IIDX series for the PS2 and so far have come up with 3rd, 5th, and 8th Style. I'm still not that great at DDR and definitely not with IIDX but I'm still learning. I think I do pretty good at DDR but need to work on my form and timing, then again playing in heavy shoes after not playing for a couple weeks isn't the best way to play.... However that's a little Bemani history for me as I have played Bemani games off and on since DDR for the PS1 came out in the US.

I'm always eager to play a round with someone and see people other than myself play.

May as well say hello  Grin, likely stealing someone's intro format but here goes.

Name: Nick
Handle: NekoSempai, 검은 호랑이 in Korea *Black Tiger*, NEKO on ITG machines
Age: 23
How to find: I'm a 6'3 Jamacian guy that'll be playing Bemani.  There can't be TOO many of those right? :3

So yes.  Hi all.  Grew up with the dance game communities on the East Coast *FL/MD/NY*, held a pretty high groovestats track record for awhile and then moved to Korea post-school for the past 2 years, where you find Pump Fiesta machines in gas stations *Not joking* and 4 panel machines are few and far between.  I've kept up playing Pump pretty religiously and miss all the fun of ITG customs and nobar that I only play maybe once a month when a tourney pops up.

Nonetheless, next month i'll find myself relocating to Seattle, and absolutely plan to get back into religious 4panel play, so i'll be all over WA to whatever's a good ITG/DDR machine.  I'm a big fan of Bemani / competitive fighting games, and having a good time in general.

Nice to meet everyone, i'll be around :3  Wink

well hello there! Nice to have another high end dance game player around!
The best ITG dedicab you'll find out here is at ACME Bowl in Tukwila!
Also we got ourselves some PIU PRO 2 at Power Play in Bellevue and a Pump NXA machine at the seattle's waterfront arcade!

Looking forward to seeing you around! Cheesy

My name is Zak, I live in Seattle and go to the UW. I am not very good at DDR, but I would like to play more and get better. I'm always around if anyone owns an extra dance pad or wants to go to an arcade.

NekoSempai, you're currently in Seoul? 한국어 말해요? It'd be cool to talk to another 의국 사람 about living there, especially one who plays bemani.

Welcome aboard, 친구. Hope to see you around.

It is times like these that I really wish I had actually learned to read hangul when I was a teenager, as opposed to just talking about wanting to learn to read hangul and watching hours of pointless TV instead. Tongue

@Keby - We'll definitely have to play.  Often.  I need someone to go stamina crazy with me XD.

@Defiled - Yeah, being a foreigner there was quite the experience hahah.  So many stories, so many wild times.  I'll surely see you around.

@Laura - Hangul is pretty simple to learn to read though, not counting translations.  I has a much easier time picking up hangul than I did hiragana and katakana originally.

I'm back in the states now visiting family, but switched flights in Seattle-Tacoma airport yesterday with a 6 hour layover, thus getting my first taste of the area.  See you all officially in about 3 weeks ^_^

@NekoSempai: Hiragana was really easy for me, but Katakana was really challenging.  I attribute this to the fact that I learned Hiragana when I was 11 and Katakana when I was 16.  Now that I'm an adult, I can't help but feel like my foreign language ability is all but completely shot. Tongue

@Defiled: Google translate has terrible grammar. Tongue

Hey Zak!  I go to UW too, and it's a shame that the arcade right across from the UW bookstore just lost its DDR machine.  You should come play with us sometime!

Hi there!  I'm Ben, and I'm new(ish) to downtown Seattle.  I'm mostly a PIU player (played out in Maryland before I moved here), but I can appreciate some 4-panel play now and then.  I spent the Summer here, so I've already met a few people over at Power Play and Gameworks, but I'm looking to get a bit more involved with the community now that I'm here for good.  I'll head over to Acme or wherever the big dance game hotspot is once I figure it out.  See you guys around!

@Neko: Damn dude, what a weird coincidence.  Small world, eh?
