How do you guys drink it without it burning the fuck out of your mouth.  I had to let this thing sit here for literally over half an hour (with a lid on I guess, which defeated the purpose of letting it cool now that I think about it) before it wouldn't burn my tongue.

I don't mean "burn" like "oh it was very hot" I mean "burn" like I took a sip a minute or two after I got the drink and now I have lost feeling to some extent in my mouth because of it.

1) Hold onto it until it burns your hands, then stop, repeat ad infinitum.
2) "Iced Coffee"
3) Welcome to seattle.

I don't drink coffee. I don't like buying a drink and then having to fill half the cup with sugar/cream/whatever just to make it taste good.

Oh, forgot to answer this:

Wait until it's not scolding, and then sip in just a little bit and don't swallow it right away. Let your mouth get used to the temperature (it shouldn't be burning hot here) and then you should be ok. It's not like a taking a chug of soda.

Explain to me why there are people who evidently order their coffee extra hot. O_O

So I just ate a croissant for breakfast.  I could feel it on my tongue but I could not taste it.  Thanks coffee from yesterday.

Am I gonna be the only one to agree with Toph here? It's too hot and generally has too much caffeine. The taste is alright, but the payoff is generally not worth the trouble.

Coffee will not scold you, it will scald you. There is a huge difference, and I know if coffee could scold me I'd sure as fuck never drink it.

My white mocha was telling me the other day that I'd been a bad boy.

haha, good point, Ethan. :-P

Maybe people get it extra hot so it stays warm for several hours, since most don't drink it all right away. That way while they drive to work, get into their office, and start working, it's finally at a drinkable temperature... (I guess?).

Oh man... I hate it when I buy a cup on my way to somewhere, can't drink it right away because it's too hot, and end up either waiting around for it to cool down or throwing it out.

I'm not fond of the taste of coffee, but I drink it so I can stay awake in my morning classes. Before 2 months ago I never drank much caffeine, so it doesn't take much to affect me. Becoming dependent on it something I want to avoid, but already it's beginning to feel like a necessity. :|

Correct... in most cases anyways. The other people that order it must be masochists or something.

i think once you are accustomed to drinking coffee, you can drink it hotter.. because i used to be the same 'omg its hot' but now i can usually just start drinking it right when i get it.

i drink it black. unless i got an orange / white mocha. it really is an acquired taste. much like beer, except beer makes you cold and tired whereas coffee makes you awake and warm. both make you happy.

coffee is a flavor I dislike except when used VERY lightly in some desserts.  And generally only with chocolate.  I just tihnk it's gross, like drinking dirt tea or something.

I was in the car on the way to GW, and that song came on the radio. I was like, "oh shit! That's the song in CSB's post!".

Seattle has good hip hop radio stations if this is the case.  Hip hop radio in Hawaii is basically

WEST SIDE WALK IT OUT
SOUTH SIDE WALK IT OUT
EAST SIDE WALK IT OUT
NORTH SIDE WALK IT OUT

hahahaha, you probably haven't listened up much radio up here yet.

If I were to take a guess, the only stations that would play that song would be Star 101.5 (80s, 90s, & Today) or 107.7 The End (Alternative).

That = on our hip hop stations?!  Yeah, one can only wish.  Sad

Our hip hop stations Cube 93.3 (Rap/Hip Hop) or Kiss 106.1 (Top 40) play all those crappy songs like "This is Why I'm Hot" or "Soulja Boy".
