- ORIGINAL POST -
Tony and I have been playing a LOT of DDR on JPS2 + Afterburner lately. We know it's a long shot, but if anyone has or knows of someone else who has any of the following home versions, we want to talk to you:
DDR 3rd Mix
DDR 4th Mix
DDR Extra Mix
DDR Max 2 (JP version)
DDR Strike
Anyone have these and want to help some collectors/players out? As for compensation... negotiable.

Ah, thanks Jon - looks like all the "classics" that get added to newer versions of the games; cool to have, but I don't think we'd have much use for playing them.

Just wondering. You know, might be a nice collector's item. A good friend of mine has it, but he never plays DDR anymore....I wonder if I could nab it from him.
Oh I found out were my 4th mix went.
Me: Hey mom, remember that old DDR game I had? Do you know where it went. I'm pretty sure I still have it somewhere.
Mom: OOooh that. I think I sold that at a garage sale when you went off to college.
Me: D: O....M....G
Mom: what?
Me: You've committed a sin against god.....
Mom: I'm sorry?
eh, oh well. I never played it anyways.....so long 4th mix, such good memories.

Yeah, we're looking for legit games only - we have an actual JPS2 but not any modded hardware. :<

3rd is dope because you can play older mixes in Remix mode.
Same with 2nd.

Good news: Otakon video game room has all of those games (I think.. not really sure about 4th) and is not using them anymore
Bad news: They're buried in storage
Good news: Otakon is a month away and they'll be unpacked then
Bad/Good news: Being a non-profit organization, I dunno how much of a pain it would be to legally sell these. Best case scenario would be that they'd be free for you..
Let me know if you're interested and I can figure out how to get you these games

VERY, VERY interested. I'd feel funny taking them for free, though - maybe Tony and I can make a "donation" to the con in exchange for them?

ugh.. so the response I got is that all the DDR games are on the official books as inventory, meaning I can't just give them away. And then the real biter is that being a non-profit organization, Otakon can't just sell the games off and they don't have a policy in place about liquidating assets like that
This effects the entire video game room. We're sitting on so many used games and consoles we'll never put out onto the floor again when we could sell them off to help with our budget. I'll see what happens at the con. Maybe something can still be arranged to get those games off the books

If you can find some way to sell them, that's great. I don't expect a handout.
I think that if done right it should be possible as long as you can prove that the money they were sold for went back into the convention directly?

If they have a bylaws committee, you should point out that they should have a policy for liquidating assets. Technologies become obsolete, games become unpopular, and money tends to become scarce. Having to hold onto crap just because it's in the books is bogus. In fact, I'm going to look for such a policy in the Kumoricon Bylaws, and bring up the issue to the committee if there isn't one. It's only a matter of time before some of our equipment stops being useful to us.
