I didn't reset the timing windows because you guys didn't want me to last time I asked. I can do it when the machine is fixed. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.
Quote
I still vote that don't.
I don't want it to be easier.
I love the challenge.
We are getting better because of it.
Everyone should see it as a good thing.

The problem is this:
While yes it technically makes us minutely better, the fact is, 99.9% of my play time is not in tournaments and on the Acme machine. While yes it makes that one 100 all the more precious, I would much rather have my rightful 100s on the many songs I've 1Exd or 2Exd or whatever. As it stands, I believe the timing windows are slightly too constricted, which was probably why 'normal machines' are what they are in the first place; I can't tell you how many times my step sounds exactly on but it gives me an excellent anyway. I'd just rather play with the timing windows the way they were intended to be at this point, the slight 'challenge' has very much lost its luster and I'd rather be able to get an accurate look at how I can do on songs. There are many who would agree (that I've spoken to at Acme).
The way I see it, it really doesnt make us much better, and in fact I'd be willing to bet the motivation from scores increasing from the change will make us play more which in turn would make us better than we would be playing as is. It would be better to just have it as it was intended to be. You could put a lot of games on a 'harder difficulty' or play with self-imposed challenges; it might make you better, but it also might make the game more tedious and less enjoyable overall.

And Kevin (DDR), what ever happened to putting more songs on? Or resetting the cache once in a while? I don't think I've seen you at Acme once in the last like 6 months and I go 5 times/week on average, if you're going to commit to 'managing the machine' you should actually make the time to come down and do it! I've offered several times to provide transportation for you to do so. That offer still stands.

Oh right this is the dance games accomplishment thread...
99.32 The Beginning, machine rec #2 by 1e. Would have been #1 except the timing windows are too small

God I hope they get the machine fixed with a quickness...

I agree with this completely. AND:

Then wouldn't you leave the timing windows as they are? It was the later "revisions" and hacks that made them easier, hahaha.

Y'all are taking your shit for granted. We don't even have a dedicab down here or even a machine that we can use USBs on.... and just when we were about to buy one, it gets snatched up. And what do I see in this thread? "GOD THE FRIGGING TIMING WINDOWS TOO HARD ONE EXCELLENT OF MR #1 ON THE BEGINNING NOT MY FAULT THE TIMING WINDOW IS SO FRIGGIN SMALL FIX THE MACHINE POSTHASTE"

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go get my rightful double-digit excellents and 20 dropped holds on 9s now

and while I'm here

Quote
I can't tell you how many times my step sounds exactly on but it gives me an excellent anyway.

Yeah that would happen if the timing windows were bigger anyway. That is dancing games, welcome to dancing games.

Disco does have a point. While he could have said it in a nicer way......basically lets not take what we have for granted.

Allan I know how tempting it is, but if you want to be able to compete at big tourny's, you will vouch to have this timing window as is. Most big tournaments are on OpenITG cabinets now, and they're machines are the same as ours.

Just would like to point out the timing window itself is not actually tighter. It's the pole rate that is tightened just a bit. It more or less kind of has the same effect. But it is different.

Yes harder difficulties can make games tedious, there is much truth in that. I like harder challenges though. That and I don't think this game gets tedious because of it.

Besides, why take the easy way out to get better at this game? That's never been fun Grin

back on topic now

Disco shut the hell up. You dont even fucking play here, so I'm going to go ahead and ignore everything you have to say on the subject.

Keby,

basically lets not take what we have for granted
It's a quick easy fix, there's no reason not to do it. It's not 'taking it for granted' it's fixing an unintentional bug.

Quote

I'm not sure I believe that other machines wouldn't have this corrected for. Sure theyre on OpenITG cabinets, but they most likely do have the change since it's a well known bug. And I'll never compete in 'big tournaments' anyway, not that the timing windows there matter either since it's all on 15+s

Quote
Besides, why take the easy way out to get better at this game? That's never been fun
This isnt the easy way out, we've been doing it the hard way. If I played strictly no bar I could argue using the bar is the 'easy way out' but it's the way the game is intended to be played (On ITG 10+s at least, I don't want a war over that statement).

The timing is unintentionally too tight, causing some steps that are within what was deemed a reasonable threshold of "Fantastic" by the developers to not be considered reasonable by the machine.

We had this discussion before and we opted not to change it at the time, however the people who actually come to Acme would now rather they be at the correct settings.

Let's have a weighted vote, 1 vote per day per week on average you actually play on the Acme machine. Make it easy. So far it's 5 votes for the change, 1/2 vote against. Tuan? Rudo? Other major shareholders care to chime in?

James you need to chill; I'm going to let most of that rant go. And yes I'm a major egomaniac at this game, that's what you have to do sometimes to keep motivated.

I make a big deal out of it because I actually play and talk with the other players at Acme, though certainly they're not nearly as loud on these forums, and the general consensus was that they wanted it fixed. I really don't even care all that much at this point, if you guys are that adamant about it staying this way then keep it this way.

Done with this argument, let's indeed get this back on track. This is after all the ego thread in the first place

Acme machine's fixed. New egoboosters:
Down 99.60 Eat it Rudo!
Finger lickin good:

No autographs please:

As I said, you do what you can to keep motivated, even being full of yourself sometimes Tongue Most people here are guilty of that to some degree. Going through all the songs again with what I understood was "correct timing" would have been great motivation for me and others. Get off my god damn case.

I'm pretty much neutral on this. I like the machine either way. And don't get worked over small things. Nuff said.

As long as that machine is functioning and NO ONE buys it, I'll be happy.

AHEM... Anyways I have some accomplishments to post!

Got the greats in the slow down =[

its an aight score

was not expecting to do this well on this song at all (I suck at this song)

Almost!

Just the % I wanted Cheesy

This songs hard, but I did it.. Lookin' to 98-99 possibly.

Pad error argh! could've been a 99 I think

Yep, all these scores are on an upgrade machine... but I'm not complaining :O

So much hate you guys. So much hate......There's no reason for it.

I'm still vouching to keep it the same. If quads are still possible on it, then there you go.

As I said, you do what you can to keep motivated, even being full of yourself sometimes Tongue

I think I play this game to make friends and have fun with friendly competition *coughholliesuxcough*... I don't see a lot of friend-making or fun going on here in the last 10 posts...

Jon - Maybe you could make an anonymous poll on here that allows one vote per user, asking if the machine should have the timing changed or not.  This "he said", "she said" thing is stupid.  Find out what the majority of people want, and let's do it.  End of discussion.  And we could post a sign at Acme saying "There is a pending poll to see if the timing on this machine should be changed.  Please visit www.pnwbemani.net to cast your vote!" or something.  That way everyone knows about it and can give input.

Lastly - It's a game people.  A game.  If you're enraged over a game or making enemies over a game, you're doing it wrong.

lol at the timing window whining... ITG's timing windows in general are easy mode, in any revision. Most songs are on sync too, which in most games you don't have the luxury of.

I tied that on my warm up set so you're third now

quit on bagpipe when I got a miss at about combo 310.  I had 2 (and another as I stepped off)... I tried it one more time and got something lame like 99.3 with a great or two.  I'll probably SDE it pretty soon.

Ran 1.7 miles today in 8 minutes and 39 seconds.
Elavation varied from running uphill for around 3 minutes and downhill for around 2 minutes. rest was....relatively flat. little bumps here and there.

also this was kinda recent.

Best Excellent count so far on Summer. Everything else was meh 6 of those greats were me right after the first Death run. Those jumps always kill me haha xD
everything else was pad. Going to help brunswick zone fix those minor wiring issues tomorrow. Anything high speed and steamy will make the pads give way offs.

Keby - DJ Party (Marq's Edit) 96.80

One of my best friends Marq made this DJ Party edit. It's more like a 12, but man it's so much fun! You guys have to try it when I get back! Too bad Marq can't come up to seattle anytime soon Sad Sorry for the volume, our machine volume is so low.

Also this

It will never happen again.

although, if you wanna get into brass tacks, Oregon is just New Maine anyway (cause of Portland and all that biz)

y'know, I did play a few days ago ago. I got:
Typical Tropical 9e 1g
Hand of Time 23e 1g (first step :///)
Kiss Me Red Hard 7e (mistakenly picked it after playing the expert and fuckin' up)
re-99'd Holy Guacamole twice without beating my old 99.50 :/ I think the scores were 99.05 and 99.44 or something, shit sucked, didn't take pictures.
