Well, when do you think FaXX, Felm, HDVO, and Chaos will be unlocked as normal stages, or do you think that will never happen?

Seriously, if kept as Extra stage only or Oni chart only songs, that REALLY takes away the possibilities of improving on certain charts, especially the Oni charts.

I think they will be, but only after internet ranking is over.

Internet ranking has been for a couple months. They'll be available in SN2.

The reason why [the JP and EU versions] have 4 "boss songs" is because of the E-Amuse software. Since the machines in the US do not have that capability, we are without the other songs.

So yeah, not happening. Fucking stupid excuse, really. Not like we needed e-amuse to get FELM. :/

If I can put 520 songs on my 5-year-old laptop without even touching the hard drive capabilities it has, they can put 300 songs including 4 boss songs on a $15,500 arcade cabinet.

Wow you can probably AAA PSMO on the Narrows machine since it's always in perfect condition

I passed Disconnected Disco Ex Doubles last week with a 70ish%. Yay?

Yes, but does your stepmania have BG videos, or BG dancers with uber-good graphics (for DDR that is) and all that other crap -insert all that other crap here-? huh? well, i do see your point. they should be able to add all sorts of crap on that machine. unfortunately for us, Konami hates the US.

...Which would explain why they're playtesting IIDX GOLD here, right?

It probably has a lot more to do with:
1) Licensing and/or
2) Old PS2 hardware limitations.

But that's getting off topic...

Licensing probably wouldn't be it; the music is already on the machine, you just need to unlock it. Also, the boss songs are created by in-house Konami artists, which means they own the licenses.

Aren't we talkin' AC versions here?  I don't get why old PS2's are holding back SN AC from having a decent amount of boss songs. :?

diggit,
ASuperNOVA doesn't have background videos, unless you count that crap that's made of basic video loops in variable colours.
Also, the BG dancers on SN don't have uber good graphics.  Good graphics would be FFXII.  When the background dancers look like FF cutscene quality, I'll say they have good graphics.

I doubt 300 2-minute songs + graphics + "movies" + stepcharts + code is pushing 4.3 gigs.  Extreme was able to cram about the same size song list, and actual movies onto 700 MB.  The songs would have to be at a damn high quality.  Also, a PS2 obviously isn't preventing Europe or Japan from using E-amuse.

Konami made the mistake of not including an unlock system and instead used the messy update disc idea. It has nothing to do with hardware or cost; the songs are already on there and are playable as extra stage and in courses as it is. They'll be selectable in SN2, don't worry. And chances are they'll have eamuse for it in the US as well, what with IIDX Gold coming out. And if anyone's wondering, the update disc was 3.9gb, IIRC.

accomp: i got matsuri japan as random extra stage and got 15 perfects in a row while looking at the pad then quit.

It's probably similar to an installer, where they always say the disk is full when in reality the actual content makes up a small fraction of the disc's total space...

Either that, or Betson REALLY sucks at space efficiency.

I sure hope the IIDX game data takes up 60 gigs because if it doesn't use the whole storage space, it's auto-shit.
And SN has way more actual BG movies than Extreme did.  Did extreme have ANY?  Obviously 5 second avi loops don't count according to you guys, so don't mention those at all.
Just remember guys, unless we get every single unreasonable detail we demand, whoever gives us anything sucks.  It's an America thing.

I AAAed the new long train runnin because it's a cool song

I have all of the Extreme avi background videos on my SM. and they take up about 450MB.

You fail at interpreting my posts.  Seriously, do you even read them?  I'm NOT saying "the game must take up its entire storage medium or it's crap", but I'm saying that they probably aren't pressed for space given the hardware, in response to Met's post about PS2's limitations.

If there was an ignore feature, then you bet I wouldn't read them.  I try not to as it is, and besides, I never said I was talking about you, I have no idea why you're so defensive over nothing.

I only agree with one thing: I want an ignore feature too.  And you might want to check yourself on that last one.
