All right, I'm just going to throw this out there for a little discussion on a few changes I was thinking about:

 Remove: Air Hockey
 Remove: File Area

Neither get many posts anymore. If people need to upload more than a few files they can use Megaupload, and we could move the random music thread into Off Topic discussion or something.

 Split Serious (Off Topic) Business into its two child forums, Serious Business and Off-topic Discussion.

There seems to be a definitive rift between the two types of topics... I think we need to separate the serious philosophical topics (ie How old is the earth?, etc) from the random stuff. (Pictures thread, ARTWORK THREAD GOGO, etc.)

...

So now it is up to YOU, THE USERS (and BlueSS, of course) to decide the FATE OF THE FORUM. gogogogogo

I'm in the camp of people (however large or small it may be), that is against this banning.  It wasn't unwarranted though, nor was it unexpected by most.  I mean, didn't he already get temp ban?

Yeah, multiple warnings and a temp ban for one week. The day he came back he continued attacking other users and just generally being an asshole, so action had to be taken. :\

I hate to admit it, but I kind of agree with James' sentiment on this (though not stated in quite the same way).  I personally did not come to this forum to talk about DDR (but maybe I did to talk about Drummania/GuitarFreaks), I came to get to know people, what they think, and so on so forth.  One drawback of the debate is that I think I have formed negative opinions of some of the members, without even meeting them irl, whereas my end goal was to try to meet and get to know as many people as possible irl.  I don't know if this can necessarily be blamed on the serious business forum, however.  It could just be my own anger management problems.

I know that some of us want to meet new people, but serious debates are not the way to get to know people.  More light-hearted topics are.  All that serious debate does is leave bad first impressions or form hatred towards those you already know, and accomplish nothing else.  I'm very thankful I never really looked into the serious topics that much.

I'm against bringing SB back.  Again, there is no need to have a split in the off-topic boards.  And we do not need the boards to undergo another rapid change that happens without our input (or gives us a very unreasonable amount of time to put in our input)

I am in total agreement with tada. We will do fine without it, i mean lookat this real discussion we are having now, without it. I personally didn't notice zeppy being an asshole, but i didn't pay too much attention to mkind of thing anyway, so you guys probably banned for a good reason from what i've heard, you definately have)

I dunno, I can't find any posts where he was really attacking people, so I guess those got deleted. I kinda wanna see these posts so I can ask him in person about his motives for these posts.

It's not so black and white in my opinion; a mixture of serious and light-hearted topics are important for getting to know people.  If I just joke around with someone all the time that doesn't necessarily mean I know anything about them.  On the other hand, if I never joke around with someone, I lack knowledge of their sense of humor or personality and maybe even snippets of their ideology from that joshing that could be useful when a more serious topic comes up.  Things have to be in balance.

I think the main problem was with all the board changes being too quick, then things kind of got out of hand with the new serious forum partly due to that hastiness, then there were more board changes/wipes to fix that which were equally hasty, which brought disgruntlement from some among whom the most outspoken was Zeppy (who had just come back from a tempban), which led to his ban and now the creation of this thread.  At least that's my understanding, Iori.  Because of all the forum changing and topic deletion (some of it called for I believe, some of it not) it might be difficult to find some of Zeppy's posts now...

Nothing was permanently deleted, it was moved to a forum that I had previously thought was viewable to you guys... but turns out it wasn't.

The "Breaking Point" forum has everything that was "deleted" previously.

Well that clears a lot of things up  Cool  I kept hearing this "It hasn't been deleted, it can be reversed" rhetoric and I was wondering where the proof was.

This forum seems to be developing into a distopia.  Maybe I'll write a short novel (50-100 pages) about it or something.

What about my Cascadia topic?  Did that tear anyone apart?  That was unquestionably a debate topic.

Important things that are relevant to our community should be debated, be it state laws, major school board decisions, drug problems, etc.

I don't come to Bemani communities to talk about DDR; I come to Bemani communities so that I can meet cool people.  Obviously, the Seattle crowd has a very different attitude than the Portland crowd, and the fact that Portland's basically being somewhat excluded in a community that should accept them as a sister city is, in my eyes (lolgetit?), pathetic.  Seriously, all the power in this board is held by Washington.  I think a huge reason why the board is so mixed is the fact that there's no bond between the Seattle community and the Portland community.

I'll talk more about it tomorrow.  Basically, what I'm saying is that this forum's really starting to create a bad taste in my mouth.

This is the second post you've made where you've said you feel like we're ignoring you or something. Personally, you've hit my one-up quota. This is when someone says "hey, I did such and such" and you say "that's nothing, I've done such and such +1." Sorry.

Debate topics here are pointless. No offense, but ultimately it's a bunch of us arguing about topics beyond what a lot of us can conceive. State laws? Drug problems? Are you serious? What does KevinDDR or diggit6 have to say that has absolutely any relevance at all? What can I say that has any relevance at all? It has some to do with age, but in the end all we are are "internet experts" and beyond personal opinion, it's going to accomplish nothing but pushing someone's buttons. Move out, get a job, pay taxes (or in OR's case, dont ;P), get fired, get credit, vote. These are things that change your perception on life and without them you're arguing a baseless argument.

Pull your heads out, man. It's a bemani board. You can have offtopic, talk about whatever you want. But if you're not here to talk about a common interest- then you're in the wrong place. Frankly, I come here because of a game I love. That I've loved for years. I have made some of the best friends in the world through this series and for that I'm thankful. But you don't make those connections just through a message board- it takes work.

I was, and still am, great friends with a lot of the Portland Bemani crowd. Unfortuantely they aren't as visible any more. I'll probably be at Big Al's this weekend- come by and introduce yourself.

I don't go to Bi Gals; I'm poor and can't drive yet. T_T

I'm of mixed opinions on a lot of things.  I think there's a lot of backing behind both why we should and shouldn't have debates here.  I think this community is a strong debating community.  There are a lot of people with a lot of neat views and a lot of us actually try to understand, instead of just attempt to hammer our beliefs into everyone else.  A lot of communities can't work that way, and pretty much nobody from school can debate like that, so one of the reasons I started to get into this forum so much was because the people here weren't a bunch of highschoolers with no grasp on reality or true faith.

I think that not debating is a waste of a talent this community possesses.  "The fruits are ripe for the picking, but all the fruit pickers all got stopped by border patrol."
