So, I'm the 2010 Sakuracon Arcade Coordinator this year, and just as the above title says, I'm looking for people who want to work for me. In exchange for your efforts, you get free admission into the convention. What, specifically, would arcade staff do?

-Hang out in the arcade and make sure nobody is disrupting, breaking con policies, or doing anything destructive (if you've ever wanted to tell somebody that their Matrix Walking is idiotic WITH AUTHORITY, now's your chance!)

-Help to run Bemani tournaments

I'm specifically looking for people who have availability in the early morning (8AM-11 AM or so) and evening (7PM-11PM). Tony and I will have the graveyard shift covered, and most of the tournaments will probably occur in the afternoon/early evening so we'll be there for that too. Maybe a third person to deal with the graveyard with us would be nice, too. Smiley

You must be 16+, or 18+ to work the graveyard. Preferably be one of the more than half of this forum's regular users who have participated in the administration of some Bemani related event, but you don't have to be. Smiley

When you're as large as I am, you always have authority.

As opposed to me and Sara, who look like 12 year olds on their way back from seeing Twilight. Tongue

It's too bad we won't have the IZ Extreme with no traction on the pad feet.  I still remember the matrix walker at Scon '06 who found out that the pad slides very far when you do that.  He limped away pretty quickly.

I finally retired as Otakon's music gaming coordinator (not an anime GETIT) after Otakon 2009... do I want to subject myself to another anime con already?  hrm...

uhmmmm i can do this and if you have a popn cab i could try to run a little tourney.  im not into ddr/itg much anymore.  also iidx if we have anything lol

so my only limitations would be during the dances.  other than that i will be in the game area most of the time, same as every year Tongue

Why can't I read topics like these when I'm underwater

I want some free admissions.  Then I can laugh at my sister for paying and also for being my sister.  I probably will have nothing to do that weekend.

Probably some cosmic tidal effect.  You should ask a therapist about it.

Hey Laura, sign me up. I want to go this year and help more than anything. Especially in the arcade. Hope your still looking for staff.

Keby (and Zach, since we're never online at the same time, arrggghh), you guys need to hit me up on AIM so we can talk and sign you guys up if you still want to do this. I only have a couple of staff spots left. Smiley

AIM screen name is "babyimsolidgold" 8D

I would maybe do this, since I'll likely be htere a good chunk of the time, but I already have my admission, so I don't see any advantage...

I believe there's a refund process if you sign up after the fact.  I believe they used to (and probably still do, if I'm remembering this correctly) have a "volunteer" refund where non-staff who wound up helping for enough hours (the number was less than the 16 for staff) could get a manager to sign off on a partial admission refund.

As a disclaimer, this is just stuff I vaguely remember, so I may be way off.  There should be easy-to-find details on the con's website.
