Rules and qualifier information for the upcoming Sakuracon ITG and DDR tournaments have been released! They are very long, so I'm just going to post the link to the thread on the Sakuracon forums.

http://scmb.sakuracon.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19996

If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to post them either here or there (if you have a Sakuracon forums account.)

@DMN
I can see how ITG isn't as relevant to the convention as it isn't japanese, but honestly I think you're taking this too far. It doesn't bother me in particular so much as next year I'll just play at acme rather than going to the convention, but it is taking the game away from other people who'd like to play it, which isn't all that fair. Maybe it isn't as popular, but I think it's less accessible for one thing, and there's no harm in being able to introduce people to a new game. I think a couple of differences on a forum is not reason enough to assume that people who like the game are inherently going to cause some kind of conflict.

From what I've heard from con-goers the past couple years, and as a couple people have stated earlier, ITG doesn't get the traffic DDR does, even though it has been there a couple years. It's not a "new game" anymore. I'd be willing to throw out there it's probably much more effective to pay to have a machine that many more people would play and enjoy, rather than one that hasn't achieved a large audience at the con.

Having Supernova is definitely a better choice than ITG... lmao
Culturally relevant would be ITG, it's made in the PNW. Oh well. Stupid events with stupid planning for stupid people.

You know, Gerrak, you've moved me to make a fantastically logical choice. I will not have ITG at con next year. Thank you for opening my eyes to how much drama that game brings and how much of said drama I want away from my gaming area.

Also, please let me know your schedule up until con. I will absolutely tell you what I said to your face if my schedule permits. In fact, if you'd like to arrange a time at con for me to tell this to your face, please PM me.

I should note that your 'say this shit to my face' argument pretty much apples to everything you've said in this thread. I would appreciate your hypocrisy ending here.

I thank you once again for showing me a reason to get rid of ITG and put in a more culturally relevant game.

(I realized that the irony is two-fold.  Not only does DMN contradict himself by saying 'I hate drama' in the same post where he seeks to increase that drama, but Allan's fight for more ITG has resulted in zero ITG for next year.  Seriously people, can't we just get along and play dance games without threatening to take it to the bike racks?)

I plan on playing some games, hanging out with some people, and enjoying some tournaments held by the people for the people.  It's going to be such a fun time.

Uploading the videos I took at the tournaments. Big congrads to those who took 1st place in ITG competition, 1st in DDR Extreme, got AAAs or quads, beat 14-footers, etc. You know who you are :]

Very interesting competition.. The winner of the ITG tourny requested she not be filmed, so I have no footage of those matches.

Posting results on Tuesday (the first day that I will have time available to do this.) These tournaments were very interesting.

Did you get any video of people doing jumping jacks, per chance? Grin

I know that James got some video of at least Allan doing some jumping jacks, and the world's worst photo of me.  Also, Hollie the Hummingbird.

The hummingbird huh? The picture of you isn't that bad, your hair and your expression just looks like a deer caught in headlights.

Adam was telling me that the female ITG players in Victoria are EXTREMELY competitive against one another, so much so that it includes not showing their high scores to each other so they don't show weakness or strength at tournaments.

That's why Catherine didn't want any videos or photos taken.
Basically they're insane.

Ah, I didn't know Victoria was serious in that regard o.o Not quite sure what Laura was referring to with "jumping jacks", but I don't think I filmed anything like that. The videos that I took are now finished uploading. My overall coverage was quite sporadic unfortunately and didn't get Keby's AAA, though I did get Tuan's.

Put some pics in the SakuraCon album. Thanks BLueSS.
