Welcome to Suko’s Stupid Super Challenges!

What is SSC? It’s a continuing monthly event that will test your bemani skills and force you to compete in ways you never have before!

The rules are simple:
- At the beginning of each month there will be a challenge issued.
- You will have until the last day of the month to submit your best score for the challenge.
- The top three scores will be awarded points.
- Points will be accumulated throughout the year. At the end of each quarter, points will be totaled and VIPs will be chosen based off their scores. There will also be Annual VIPs based off totals achieved throughout the year. (Physical awards are a definite possibility. Stay tuned!)
- Score submissions to SSC can be made via a photo or video that legibly shows the score being submitted. Post all scores in this thread by the deadline.

FAQs:
Important answers to common questions will be collected here as they’re answered.

Q: Can I make a suggestion for a monthly challenge?
A: Sure! But depending on the challenge you propose, you may not be qualified to participate that month’s event in order to make it fair and balanced for all players.

Q: I got this great score, but I didn’t take a picture in time. Is it still a viable score?
A: In most cases, no. You know what they say, “Pix or it didn’t happen”. However, if you have a lot of trusted witnesses that saw your score, shoot me a PM and we'll discuss it.

Q: Aw man! I got a kick ass score on that song a few months back! Can I submit it for this month’s challenge?
A: Nope. Only scores obtained during the month of the challenge will be accepted.

Q: I have this awesome idea on how to set some mods so I can get way more points than the other players, can I do that?
A: Generally, if limitations aren't specified, then you're free to apply whatever mods you want. However, if the mods will unbalance the challenge, I request that you PM me so I can make an amendment. If you don't, I might be forced to disqualify scores or restart the challenge due to an exploit.

Q: I got my best score for this challenge at 11:59 pm on the 31st! Can I still submit my scores!?
A: Sure. If you can submit pictures/videos of your scores by Noon on the following day, I'll still let it count.

2nd Place - Keby (94.26%) <--Super Secret Ninja Warrior Submission
3rd Place - Dr. Z (88.88%) <--Manly score that was posted for the whole world to see!

Tuan Matt is the winner this month! I've updated to leaderboards on the first post to reflect the changes with the new scores.

Now let's talk about this month's challenge...

The MAX MAY 300 CHALLENEGE!

That's right! The star of May's Challenge is every didder kid's favorite song, MAX 300!

Song: MAX 300
Difficulty: Hard/Heavy
Mods: None

Objective: Get the highest score possible. Perfect Attack, GO!

Note: I realize that AAA scores are definitely possible with this challenge, and that's why I decided against requiring mods. I WANNA SEE SOME TRIPPLE-A's! In the event of multiple AAA submissions, I will give the higher ranking to the first one who submits their score. I will give +1 to the scores of anyone who submits a MAX 300 AAA score for this month's challenge, regardless of what you rank.

Alternate Suko Super Bonus Challenge:
I understand that this month's challenge might be a bit too much for some of the less hardcore players, so I want to offer an alternate BONUS challenge.

Here's how it'll work: A player can choose to participate in either the regular challenge OR the bonus challenge, but not both. The Bonus Challenge will be worth the following points (1st = 3pts, 2nd = 2pts, 3rd = 1pts). This is a chance for some late-commers to the Suko's Challenge to earn some pick up points and get back into the game.

Song: The Legend of MAX
Difficulty: Standard/Medium
Mods: Hidden + Shuffle + Dark

Objective: Get the highest score possible. Perfect Attack, GO!

D'oh, I totally got that wrong. I know who you both are in person, too. This mistake is unforgivable!

Just a reminder, there's only two weekends left until the end of the month. I thought Max 300 would prompt a ton of people to try for this challenge, seeing as how it's everyone's favorite 10 footer.

I did this last Saturday, and I totally missed that there was a challenge for Max 300... I'll have to get a picture this Saturday, regardless of how bad I do.

I'm working on it, though with the sub-par condition of the machines here in Eugene, I doubt I'll do well for either challenge.  Angry I'll try again this weekend.

I'm actually surprised we didn't get more score submissions this month. I figured Max 300 would be the song to bring out everyone's competetive spirit.

May's Challenge Results
MAX 300 Winners:
1st Place - NSX
2nd Place - M477

LoM Winners:
1st Place - ledgam3r1279
2nd Place - Dr.Z

Congratulations to this month's winners.

And due to the low participation in these challenge events, I think I'm going to be ending it this month. So the final rankings for Suko's Super Short Lived Challeneges are:

8 pts - M477
7 pts - Dr. Z
3 pts - NSX
3 pts - ledgam3r1279
2 pts - Keby
2 pts - manyminimoos

Congratulations guys!

As I hinted at in my original post, I do have prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners. Unfortunately to those of you who tied at third place, you will have to settle for my respect and admiration.

For taking 1st place, M477 gets to decide which of the two prizes he wants:

New DDR X with dance pad for PS2

or

A used copy of In the Groove for the PS2 (in good and working condition).

Dr. Z will take home whichever prize M477 doesn't choose.

If you guys will be participating in the SPERGIN tournament, you can pick up your prizes then. If you don't intend to be at the tournament, then I suppose we can try to work something out via PM or something.

So M477, let me know which of these prizes you would prefer, alright?

Suko, even though I didn't participate and general participation was low, thanks for running these!

It's official: DDR is dead here in these states. Sad Competitive-wise, at least.

My LoM entry below for anyone interested:
The legend of MAX Difficult AA/FC (5g) - DDR SuperNOVA (AC, US)

I find it funny how I managed to get third from this one challenge.  Tongue

Yeah, this is mainly why I closed it early. I was hoping that with summer arriving and choosing a song that I know both DDR and ITG people loved, would produce a larger turnout. I'm surprised more of the "hardcore" players didn't get into this one, even if only to show off against each other.

Suko, even though I didn't participate and general participation was low, thanks for running these!
You are welcome.
