- ORIGINAL POST -
The New DDR SuperNOVA 2 has come out for the PS2, I encourage you to buy this game even though you will have to wait longer untill the machine comes out. It actually has a much better songlist than the other ddr's. Online Features up to 4 players in 1 room and chatting capabilities for competition and fun. These are some songs that are on the DDR SuperNOVA 2 beta machine: NGO, Unreal, Volcanoe, and some extra's like, Paranoia Hades, Trip Machine Pheonix...
NGO has a crazy slightly retarded challenge steps, same with Paranoia Hades....
Get SuperNOVA 2 and talk about how good it is or how bad it is...
I might have to revise this later....

God, you must really care about this game. Couldn't even get it the day it came out? That's some real devotion there. ;P
When I get a working pad, I'll play peeps. Songlist looks passable.

Aaron in Japan much? There's a thread there that has a bit more info than this, and a lengthy, unmitigated debate on simfile paradigms.
So basically yeah, I <3 AIJ.

Well crap.. For the first time I have been completely ninjed by a US DDR release (no clue it was out).
I guess it's time for me to unpack the ol' CF outta storage and get it over to the new place.

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard the 2 new CS songs, Dazzle and Malecca (sp?). They both look and sound pretty sweet. I'll probably give it a go soon enough though.

First, I'd just like to give a quick laugh to any sorta online capabilities of the PS2. Ha.
Second, so is this actually gonna be SuperNOVA 2 or more like SuperNOVA 1-2? In my earlier post, I completely forgot about US mixes never being much like arcade ones and half the SuperNOVA 1 songs still not being available in US CS.
Also, here's hoping for the online only songs from SuperNOVA 1 being available.

I really like most of licensed songs.... the stepcharts are another story. Paranoia Hades Challenge may be the most mis-rated song on DDR.

I just got my hands on this game and have to say I really have been enjoying the songlist. It has a lot of stuff from SN1, but its a lot of good stuff.

just thought I'd throw this out there... I played Supernova 2 at the arcade a while ago. It was alright, I don't think very many of the Supernova 2 songs were unlocked yet though, because there was only 1 10 footer. Its called Trim. And it was retarded.
It starts out all slow, and you keep waiting for it to speed up. But no. Not till the last like 20 secs. So I was all like, la di da, this is easy, HOLY SHIT! phail. ghey. never again. But Volcanoe was pretty good. If you guys have any questions about the SN2 cab, let me know and I'll find out when I go back there and play it some more.

I have a few questions:
1. Syncing
2. Speakers/Equalizers
3. Pads
Basically, I want to know if it's going to be worth a trip to the first arcade in Oregon/Lower WA that gets it plus a dollar to play it. Both the SNOVA's I've played have been pretty disappointing. One was insensitive, off-sync (not unbearably), had nothing unlocked, and had really shitty speakers. The other was insensitive, similarly off-sync, had nothing unlocked, and was inaudible, to the point that I was failing anything I sightread except Un Deux Trois doubles, which I randomly AA'd.

Equalizers
lol why would that matter. It's not like the songs aren't pre-mastered.

Because, at the Avalon, the bass is too high and fucks me in the ass, and at Bullwinkles, the bass is too low and I can't do anything. I included it with speakers because I'm pretty sure that the equalizers are all completely preset and it really only depends on the quality of each speaker.

jp sn2 cabs have very good pads. the speakers were only slightly better than the US sn1 speakers, but it's up to the arcade manager to set the bass and volume levels. syncing is very good, and of course marvelouses help a lot.
if you want to play more 10's on supernova 2, go try the supernova 1 extra stages on challenge mode, or get better scores and try all the new extra stages. and of course to unlock anything you'll need to use an eamuse card and play A LOT.
supernova machines in america cannot be unlocked. and when supernova 2 is finally released here, it's more likely places with sn1 would just get upgrade kits as opposed to an entire new machine.

well, I guess that answers that. But if you think about it, my telling you about the Japanese arcade version isn't really going to tell you much about the american version. From what I played, I noticed everything synced really well. As far as speakers and stuff, that does depend on who sets them up. But the sound was fine, I didn't have any problems with it. That pads though, I don't think they changed at all. It was probably the same pads from a SN1 set. As far as the cab goes, you can have a look at it, I took a picture. Its on my myspace.

Back in July, I heard hinting that e-amuse might reach the US so that Americans (AKA the only people who still play DDR) can actually unlock stuff. Is that happening, or will SuperNOVA2 just be another shiny green cock to look at wishfully?
