- ORIGINAL POST -
We seem to periodically get a lot of posts regarding the sale or auction of various music game machines. I thought instead of continuing to spam up the general music discussion forum, I'll just post any Bemani auctions I find in here.
BLueSS Edit: Frequently visit

The best reference I have is air hockey tables (it's easy to find what those weigh because the manufacturers put that info on the websites.) Typically, they're between 350 and 550 lbs. I think a DMX machine probably weighs less - especially given that some of the sensors and stuff come off (you could ship them separately.)

If you're thinking about shipping calcs, I can tell you that shipping this thing (by itself) to someplace more than 4 states away, will likely cost somewhere between $250 - $450. I still suggest you keep looking into it, or that you get a solid quote, but I just wanted to share what I've learned from my experiences with ya.

I'm going to have to turn this down, only because the boss of the arcade in Virginia I was considering storing it in isn't willing to hold onto it for a while, and it'd be impractical for me to get it back to the New England area while I'm in Maryland for a summer internship. But I really, really appreciate the offer, Sara, I think it's extremely kind of you, and I hope things are going well in Seattle. If any of you guys have a Dance Maniax/Dance Freaks machine to sell in like a year or two... You know your first customer, haha.

No problem, Talia. Likewise, I hope things are going well in Maryland. =) If you're ever in the neighborhood, drop me a line and I'll introduce you to the awesome community we have out here. Dance games, bringing the people together. =p

Music... games... make the people come together?
No seriously, though, I love how people from any part of the country can make friends in a new city via Bemani forums.

We should organize a group buy to get these cabinets...

I always sucked at IIDX, but I do enjoy the game. I played the old one Bill had back when I visited Acme a few years back. I kinda wish it were still there.

Those machines look like a great deal, if only for the fact that you could probably flip them for 2-3x what you paid for them.

I wonder if those cabinets are in any good condition? I'd go for them if I knew what it takes to upgrade to something newer.

If you're not running the cabinet in an arcade where people have to pay for it, there's way around that.

Yeah, for the price they are listed at... its just worth it for the cabinet. LCD tvs are pretty cheap now as far as monitors are concerned.

If you guys need any help with shipping let me know, I work for a freight company and could get in contact wtih my overseas office.
It's not clear from the info on the website link if these units are precrated; it's sold Ex works also so you'll need to arrange all freight from shipper's door; they aren't getting it to the seaport or anything.
(Also i might forget to check this so kev knows where to find me if need be)

Hmmmmmm. This sounds like an interesting investment. Though if I were to chip in, I'd want one of the cabs to be placed in Portland.
I also 2nd the question about how hard is it to upgrade 6th/8th Style to the modern system. I forget when the exact change was made.. was it 11 IIDX RED?
Ugh.. I looked at the images and while the main cabs are in good shape, the "reconditioned" means new monitors. Hello laaaaaaag

In all seriousness, if anyone pushes forward on investigation of these and they think that these would be really smart buys, I'd be interested in buying one. Specifically, if you guys are going to "group buy" one of these machines and organize shipping, I might buy one too, and we can combine the shipping. Effectively cutting down on a significant cost associated with purchasing these machines.
Alpha, can you give me a rough estimate on what shipping for one of these things would cost to get it from where it is now to my front door? Are we talking hundreds of dollars or thousands?

The main problem with upgrading to a newer game isn't so much as getting the game itself, but getting the I/O board. I think the Distorted cab would be easilly upgradable to something 14 and above because it comes with one.

OK, so anything 9th Style and above uses the newer system. That'd still be an issue with the 6th & 8th Style in this group.
Man, that's an awesome breakdown of the arcade specs in that link. It answers a lot of my questions.
I'm still interested in chipping in money to get one of these cabinets in Portland. It'd be an interesting investment since just having a IIDX machine in Seattle and/or Portland would make it an attraction for music gamers to come and visit. Right now the nearest IIDX is Vancouver Canada.

That guide is incomplete. They switched to a "new" BemaniPC at IIDX14 Gold, so it's actually like this:
1st-8th: Twinkle hardware
9th-Distorted: BemaniPC 1
Gold-Sirius: BemaniPC 2 (same I/O board as before, though)

It does mention the new PC specs for Gold and beyond. I just really liked it for the info on the display, video, and audio specs.

Another decent deal on a DDR Extreme cabinet.
http://cgi.ebay.com/DDR-Arcade-Dance-Dance-Revolution-Extreme-/150484186616?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0
This seller says that cross-country shipping via North American Van Lines would be an additional ~$700. This means that the machine would cost close to $3,000, assuming it sells at the minimum. Definitely looks like it's in good condition and it's at a reasonable price for anyone who is seriously interested in owning their own cabinet.

Man, too bad there's no "buy it now" on the Max 2 Solo. I'd drive down to Bill's warehouse this weekend and snatch it up in a heartbeat! That machine is awesome.
