Anyone planning to buy Cobalt Fluxes?
Apparently Cobalt Flux is currently offering free shipping on quantities of 4 or more pads. This is actually a pretty steep discount (in excess of $100). Is there anyone else kicking around in the area who would be willing to combine an order with me so we can hit that magic number?
(FWIW, they're also offering a very small ($30 per pad) discount on their 2010 models for the next three weeks.)
P.S.: OMG I'm alive. Since probably no one remembers who I am at this point, I'll make the upfront payment and drop them off (within, say, a 50-mile radius of Seattle); you can reimburse me when they actually arrive. Or I can meet you at Acme so you know I'm not a serial killer.

Re: Anyone planning to buy Cobalt Fluxes?
I haven't been able to invest a lot of time in looking for a third and final pad-buyer, so it looks like this is not going to happen (unless a miracle occurs in the next 24 hours). Sorry.

I have a CF from about 4 years back. All I can say is, they're built very solid and the design is so simple that it's nearly impossible to permanently break one of these things. You might have to do some basic cleaning and there's a small chance a wire might get worn thru inside the pad, but anyone with some electrical tape could easily fix that.
IMO, CF's are expensive compared to what you're getting...HOWEVER, they will last forever. Also, get the arcade mod that raises the non-arrow panels. If you don't, you'll regret it.

NSX: right now the 2010 models are $249.99.
Little side note: if you're coming from a soft pad, it's worth knowing the pros and cons of a Cobalt Flux. Pro: if you take care of them, they will basically last forever. They also don't tend to slip and slide around, both because of the material (higher friction on the bottom) and because of the weight. Con: you WILL probably have to take the panels off periodically to dust out the innards. They're not sealed the way (e.g.) soft Ignition pads are.
Currently I have a Blue Shark metal pad and the control box is just a mess. I've always wanted a Cobalt Flux.
Yeah I've read about some of the feed back they get about maintenance , But I think I can manage it.
Arkaaito, I think you got your first(?) buyer! Sign me up

They also don't fold for compact storage or transport. I don't think they don't absorb sound the way soft pads do, though other people have told me I'm crazy and soft pads are no quieter.
Suko: thanks for the tips! I've already posted on Bemanistyle, but didn't think of DDRFreak - and I think Zenius-I-Vanisher may be a totally new one on me.
And on the "model year" thing: yeah, I wasn't aware of it either, but that's how they describe it in the e-mail.

As a loyal Cobalt Flux customer, we would like to personally invite you to take advantage of our exclusive Holiday 2010 offer. Through December 15, you may order our durable Residential Edition DDR Platform for only $249 through the link provided below.
The 2010 model combines a lighter-weight design with our robust and market-leading switch mechanism providing the best DDR experience available. ...
Complete with typo and all. But the link is actually to the Cobalt Flux site, and does reflect the lower price, so I'm pretty sure it's not an elaborate practical joke.

How much are the 2010 models? I'm too lazy to look right now
I've been thinking about getting a new dance pad since the current one I have right now is crapping out on me. I'm definitely interested in this.

There 2010 model? I didn't think they had models by year.
Btw, I would also try posting this on Bemanistyle, Zenius-I-Vanisher, and if you can log in, DDR Freak. I've seen lots of people asking about pads on DDR Freak over the last few months, so perhaps this offer might be tempting to some of them. Plus, some people are near the PNW, but for whatever reason, never post on this forum.
