Any 1x players in the Seattle area?

I play 1x 100% of the time and I'm looking for people that play 1x the majority of the time.  They are few and far between but it's worth a shot.

I play DDR for myself, for exercise and fun not for competition.  I don't care about being better or worse than anyone else, I was just saying that I hate the elitist people, and particularly when they are bragging about how good they are while not capable of playing 1x.  I think you misunderstood me, I wasn't trying to prove myself better than anyone else.

sounds like an elitist statement to me :/

The majority of people use speed mods to make the game easier, that's a fact.

People who can play 1x and speed mods are much better than people that can't play 1x.

It isn't elitist, it's the truth.

Konami designs the steps with 1x in mind and it makes the songs much more fun and original rather than everyone turning every song into Max 300.
I lol'd. Go play I'll Make Love To You. ;p

My stance: speed mods... whatever works. Anyone claiming that 1x is the "right way to play" or that they're a better player because they're only better on 1x is stupid. Just use what you want and have fun; the options are there for a reason. Smiley *shrug* The only thing I'm really against is C-mods. XD

I agree, play the way you want and have fun, but the game was obviously intended for 1x play.  However, if they thought everyone would make every song the same BPM they wouldn't have slower and faster songs.  I do believe the game was designed and intended to play with 1x and have multipliers to be used for learning purposes or to mess around.  I don't think they ever thought 99% of people would use them 99% of the time.

Also, I hate elitist people that thing they're so pro when they have to use speed mods.  I don't think I'm pro and I'm not elitist but if you can't play 1x you aren't very good in my opinion.

I think playing 1x on ddr seems some what better, but when i play 1x on itg, its a whole different story... ddr seems easier on 1x, and itg is a lot harder. 1x is really fun though. I want to play someone on 1x. 1x battle!! Smiley

Well I've passed Max 300/Sakura so far and all I play is 1x.  And I think that if I'm not accurate enough to get good scores on 1x I just need to get better, I don't turn on speed mods as an artificial crutch to inflate my scores.

I'm one of the few purists left. Sad

If you don't care much about scoring then x1 is alright.

But if you're, say, trying to quadstar Xuxa expert then you would use x2.5 or x3. Speedmods help accuracy playing.

Also, they help you read songs that have super fast native BPM's. If you did everything at x1, then making the jump from songs at about 170-200 to songs that are over 250 is going to be a lot harder.

I love 1x, i play it all the time on ddronline supernova Cheesy, good practice ya know...it looks rather fun and challenging to play on 1x, but then when you change your speed mod to 3x after playing 1x for a while, it looks way too fast.  Shocked

I guess if you prefer everything to be fast then speed mods are for you, but personally I enjoy the slow songs, the fast songs, the medium speed.  I like a little bit of everything (variety), I don't see why you would want to speed mod only if you are capable of doing 1x.  It takes some of the originality out of the charts, to me.

I'm not that good at DDR in general, but I particularly feel inferior for my inability to read anything whizzing down the screen at six zillion MPH the way everyone else seems to.

I don't see why you would want to read those, most people play with speed mods because they can't read 1x.

That's what im say! I can't read 1x. I'm a 2-3x player.

Arkaaito's comment is a perfect example of why higher speeds don't necessarily make the game easier -- for people who play 1x, it's simply harder :p

And then shadowXOR's comment is a perfect example of a typical major difference between someone who merely plays to enjoy and one who plays to get good scores.

I'd rather not see this thread degenerate into a speed argument, which is the direction it's heading right now

I generally play 1x, though I'm trying to train myself to play 1.5x...

I can play with higher modifiers on Pump, though.  No idea why.

'Course, on DDR I usually play hidden, dark and reverse, whereas on Pump I play with no other modifiers.  Hmm.
