Eugenetown

Hey!

So this is my first post on here.... although I do know some of the people on here.

My name is Kevin or I go by K-Dash and I've been involved in the Southern Oregon Bemani scene for quite a while. I started out in Grants Pass... lived in K Falls for a time.... and now I live in Eugene.

Speaking of Eugene.... anyone else from Eugene? I'm always looking for more Bemani friends cause most of my current friends don't play at all. Sad I have quite a collection of Bemani games here at my place including stuff like Guitarfreaks and Drummania and Keyboardmania.. and I'm always looking to chill, play some bemani or other games.. have some good food and basically a good time. So if anyone in the area wants to come hang out and have some laughs, let me know. Smiley

Otherwise.. I make trips up to Portland sometimes and would love to meet some of the crew there. Also.. I make trips down to the Grants Pass/Medford area every few weeks or so as well... and I'm usually able to hang out when I'm down there.

Anyway... awesome forum... hope to meet some of you and catch up with the people I already know on here. Smiley

Hey, I'm looking to meet some of you if you are in the area. I'll be in Movies 12 at around 3PM tomorrow Saturday, if anybody is interested (see my previous post below). If not, next week also works too.

Movies 12 at Gateway Mall
3000 Gateway Street
Springfield, Oregon 97477

Plus, someone needs to add this location; this is probably the best machine in the area (even though it's not perfect)!

Tilt is not that bad. I AAed irresistiblement even though I haven't played in a long time. Have you tried the machine at Movies 12? It used to be the EMU's machine and has messed up wiring but it runs much better as a Supernova than as an ITG.

Movies 12 is much better. I still get a lot of random greats, most likely due to my being inconsistent in how hard I stomp on the pads, but timing is easy to adjust. I still get several misses and dropped freezes here and there, but AAs are still attainable. Surprisingly, I just got a few high scores on the machine already. Every song is just about passable now (I was able to pass PSMO doubles, at least), so I will keep coming back to that Supernova machine unless something better comes up.

Update: Here's a sample of what I had to endure (see my YT channel for more videos).

Wow, I feel like a noob right now.  Embarrassed  I was thinking about Supernova 2 where highlighting the doubles option with only 1 credit would prompt a second credit.

Still, that doesn't change the fact that the pads are horrible and I keep failing on songs that should be easy to AA at least.

The Regional Sports Center in Springfield used to have an excellent ITG 2 but that place changed ownership and now the machine is gone. It was probably the only decent machine in the area so I don't know why that they got rid of it.

Re: Eugenetown

Wait, you did make sure to push the Green buttons on BOTH sides before that screen appears, right? Otherwise the game thinks you're just a single player using 1 credit and blacks out those other options. Both sides need to be pushed to access Versus or Doubles mode. This ain't ITG ya'know? =D

Re: Eugenetown

Wait....disabled? Are you talking about doubles premium (where you play doubles for the price of a 1p game? 'Cause I don't think you can all-out disable doubles on those machines.

And I dunno where you come from, but doubles premium being enabled is actually pretty rare. Maybe 1 of every 10 machines in the nation have that enabled.

Yeah, in the mode select screen, the versus and doubles options have apparently been blacked out and locked. I put in multiple credits, but singles was still the only thing I could play. Not sure what was going on there.

And the only machine I played that has double premium is the DDR X at Lloyd Center Tilt, so sorry for any confusion.

And worst of all for me: NO DOUBLES PLAY! I do not get why they are disabled, but then again, I would not have wasted an extra 50 cents on these horrible machines anyway.  Angry

Re: Eugenetown

There really isn't any good place to play in Eugene. There used to be an ITG2 dedi with custom songs enabled but I have no idea where that went.

Yeah, I noticed that after I went to Putters and TILT in Gateway Mall. Both of their machines are literally garbage. (Thankfully, they were only 50 cents or else I would rage even more.) I had to step really hard in order for the sensors to work and thus it was hard to get the timing down. And worst of all for me: NO DOUBLES PLAY! I do not get why they are disabled, but then again, I would not have wasted an extra 50 cents on these horrible machines anyway.  Angry

If there is a DDR X2 in Eugene, I would happily play for hours on end. I'm pretty much desperate for a good machine right now.  Cry

Hey, what's up?  Nice to see a new face around here. :]

Good luck getting back in the game.  Give us a holla if you're ever in Portland and I can head over to GK or Tilt! to play a few rounds with ya.

Re: Eugenetown

Perhaps you guys should try talking the owners into letting you fix up the pads a bit. With a little work, some business cards, and perhaps some WD40, you can turn a crap pad into something decent. Check out some of the How-To and Maintenance articles on this site for more info on how to clean/repair pads.

The only good place to play is Gateway and the machines there are passable at best. I want look into finding out where the ITG2 machine went because that was a good machine.

Re: Eugenetown

I'm in Eugene as well. Getting back into DDR after a 3-year casual play hiatus. Going to the DDR even in LA a few weeks ago definitely brought back some nostalgia, s I broke out 6th-extreme for the PS2 and figured I'd get back into the forums and socialize with other ddrfreaks.

I used to post on DDRInfinity back in the day and even met with some of the other members on a consistent basis in Portland.

I'm a Senior at the UO, but I find myself torn between Portland and Eugene when it comes to weekends. I think it would be pretty cool to find/start/join a little ddr posse in Eugene or Portland. Hit me up guys!

Yea I'm still planning on making it hacked. Just want to learn how to do it right from my friend's machine before doing it on someone '10k machine ya know lol. Also, Open ITG would be the same thing as it already is haha.

On a diff note, let's plan an event people. Make it a big ITG day in Springfield!

Let's hack it this fall.

I move into my apartment in Eugene on the 15th. Until then I can come down on Saturdays easily. They like to close shop anywhere from 1-3pm depending though, so it's an earlier thing on Saturdays.

I will try to come, but I'm operating on a budget of $12 for the rest of the month so I probably won't play.

Practice makes perfect.  But I'd rather be great. ;]

Re: Eugenetown

Holy crap I haven't been on this site in for freaking ever. Anyway, I live in Corvallis and have been going down to the dedicab in Springfield a lot lately. The machine is great - has virtually no errors and I got it up to R21. FYI R21 lets you play any length song as long as it's patched (very easy to do) but can only have up to 50 songs on memory card, so I changed it back from when you made it R23. It's 50 cents and there's doubles premium. The desk will let you in without a fee and you can prolly get keys for turning up the sound. For some reason there seems to be random errors with the memory card slots. Sometimes mine won't save song scores or load all my custom songs, but it may be something related to my specific memory card. Despite this, everything else is great with the machine. Oh, also in the process of actually hacking the machine for permanent custom songs. Updates later.

I'm trying to go there like once a week as of now so if anyone wants to coordinate meet ups it will be easy to do. Large group small group doesn't matter, I'll be there often enough. Anyone who wants to meet or even carpool if possible send me a message.

Are you still planning on hacking the machine because I was considering installing something like OpenITG onto the machine. Is that a good idea?

Re: Eugenetown

I went yesterday afternoon since I had work off for the holiday. For some reason the master volume was at zero so I just got the cab key and turned it up. Borrowed an allen key to tighten some of the loose screw heads. Machine is great but Foti, me and one or two other people only seem to be the ones playing on it Sad .

Other than that M-F would have to be me driving from work in Salem when I get off at 4:30. So Michael if you're down for evening sessions I can definitely do that.

Other than that, it'll probably be a Saturday.

Oh and damn your LTMH score Foti. Damn it. No idea why I can't double that song.

For people who haven't seen how nice this machine is:

Awesome! I'll forego playing WoW. for any meetups at the ITG2 machine in Springfield. I also have IIDX/Pop'n/ Keyboardmania/other obscure bemani at my place for anyone that wants to chill. Smiley

Hey evry-body!

Name's Alex, I go by Z - just moved to Eugene.  Play DDR, used to be in tournaments 5 or so years ago.  Since then stopped playing and became a real fatty.  Started it back up again last week, went back to DDRFreak and found this link.  Back up to two hours of 5-7 feet comfortably a day.  Working on that flab.  Where's the fun at?

They let me play without paying the drop in fee. The machine is in fine conditions. Custom songs work but it has the same problem the EMU's machine so if you want to play more than  a few songs bring a laptop.
