seattle this weekend.

Plaid is playing in the nectar lounge this weekend, so i'm taking a road trip up.

if anyone else is interested, i have a couple of spots in my car and i can pick people up on the way from anywhere along the Five.  here's the basics:

the show is friday night at 9pm.  it's a 21+ show only.  $12 tickets, and i'm sure they'll have overpriced alcohol.

i'm probably going to leave eugene early afternoon or late morning to avoid rush hour traffic.  whether or not i stay in seattle that night depends on whether or not anyone can let me and company crash at their place or if i can find a cheap hotel.  alternately i could just drive down to portland and find a place to crash there if anyone has any room.  either way i want to hang out somewhere for a while on saturday before driving back down to eugene sometime saturday evening or night.

definitely want to hit up Acme.  If i can get a hold of Kyle, i may go to Big Gay Al's on saturday to hang out as it's been forever since i've seen that guy.  if he's free i might see if he wants to go to the plaid show too.

so the four questions are:

a) anyone else want to go to the show?
b) anyone in seattle or vancouver/portland have decent floor crash space i can steal for friday night?
c) is there anywhere i should hit up in seattle other than acme for fun?
d) any decent food eateries i should be aware of?

and oh yeah.  Seattle has the most poorly conceived "no parking" condition signs in the world.

Re: seattle this weekend.

i ended up not actually going to either on friday because i got held up in traffic and it would have been a rush.  Went to both GW and Acme on saturday, and i think i like GW better just in terms of space.  Acme is pretty cramped.

But boy do i miss ITG2.  put a score on caddywhompus double normal for you guys to beat.  Smiley

sorry we missed each other!  hopefully next time around it'll be better organized all around.

Maybe I decided to go to GW instead tonight because I like GW better and hopefully mykl or toph will show up and play DM.

WARNING: Gameworks has really bad dancing games. If you want to play dancing games, you'd be better off going to Acme both nights.

we'll make it up as we go.  i'm sure we'll figure something out, and dinner is probably a good cutoff for me to drive back afterward.

OK I think I'm going on Saturday then since it seems there's going to be lots of people at Acme.

Dinner plans?

Re: seattle this weekend.

here's my vague plan right now:

i'll probably end up at gameworks tomorrow around 5-6pm, maybe earlier.  I'll only be there for a couple of hours before i skedaddle off to the concert venue and then call it a night.

saturday i'm probably going to go to acme and bring scott and angelo with me and hopefullly meet up with amber.  i'm shooting for afternoon on that one, but it depends on amber's sched. and the sched. of anyone else who wants to show up.  From there we can make it up a little.

i don't want to spend money on another hotel stay, so i'll probably leave saturday sometime.  it can be pretty late as i'm used to driving odd hours of the night.

if you have a time that you want to meet up or anything either at acme or gameworks or east bumblefuck at any time, drop me a message, because my schedule is pretty flexible,  i don't always easily recognize people, but i'll be friendly to anyone who walks up to me and doesn't try to punch me in the face (and sometimes even then i can be friendly).

Re: i'm coming to seattle this weekend to see plaid.

The only thing missing from the GW list is Taiko 9.

As for Acme, IIDX is gone. q_q Current games are:

DDRSN (patched) @ $0,75/3 songs
Pump It Up Pro @ $0.75/3 songs
ITG2 dedi @ $1/3 songs (1p down arrow is pretty dead)
GFDM11/10 @ $0.75/3 songs (DM hihat is weird)
Pop'n Music 13 @ $0.75/3 songs

Re: i'm coming to seattle this weekend to see plaid.

large variety of games doesn't really appeal to me as much as specific sorts of games.  the only things i'm really interested in are arrowstompy things (and PiU Pro is a plus) and iidx, so Acme has more appeal (if the gameworks list on this site is still accurate).

we'll see though.  i'm going to be making it up some as i go.  maybe hit up one place one day and another place another day.

Re: i'm coming to seattle this weekend to see plaid.

c) Gameworks is a really good place to go. I guess you could go to Narrows, but it's not as nice as Acme if you're going to be visiting a Masterman arcade. Also, if you have some strange perverse desire to play 5key visit the Commons at Federal Way. There's a bootleg DDR with the "Don't Fall Off!" message and a BM 4th.
d) Dick's is really good. If you go to Gameworks, you really owe it to yourself to check out Daily Dozen Doughnut Co. at Pike Place Market. It's only a few blocks away from GW and it's certainly worth it.

Also, I'll be going to an arcade this Saturday so make sure to post if you decide to go somewhere!

c) The Waterfront Arcade is nice if you're interested in PIU and Rush 2049 (the only games I ever play there Cool ).
d) *ditto* (Deluxes for the win!!)

a) No thanks
b) No space for anyone
c) Gameworks is good for a wider range and larger amount of games. Acme just has the side arcade in the bowling alley (although still nicely sized).
d) Dick's is good for yummy, quick hamburgers.
