Discussion: Digital Storm Rebirth

This is for discussion of events, format, dates and venue. Shit-talking will have its own thread. Please put it in there. Thanks!

This is suicide for me, time-wise, but what the hell.

LET'S RUN TOURNEY NUMBER 12!

I don't think I want to make this large-scale, but since butt surgery forced me to not attend the tourney I was going to 'retire' from the game at, I guess I am still active.

Technical will happen, most likely a stunt round, and some chick running an Air Hockey side event.

Ideally, I want this in late January or early February (not 2/7), so I can go into Sakura-Con's hell-happy-fun-kitten times with a bit of an event warm-up and stress ignorer.

So, that said, let's discuss!

I'll make an effort to go to this.

Practice makes perfect.  But I'd rather be great. ;]

Re: Discussion: Digital Storm Rebirth

a tournament in someone's house would rule. i could probably look at simfilez since i can't enter this.

i should test my korean and see if i can enter a tournament here. i think there's one this month.

Re: Discussion: Digital Storm Rebirth

Player submitted simfiles could be handled with a review group to take the burden off one or two people.  Grab a handful of people (you + 4 others) you think would be relatively impartial (normally don't enter, enter but only to make the turnout higher, or just plain trustworthy) and set out some rules made by community consensus (what defines a reasonable number/type of bpm changes, what's too gimmicky, etc.).  Any file with 3/5 reviews negative (or that only one or two people have reviewed and all reviews are negative) or no reviews at all gets cut.  As long as even one person in the group wound up able to review a bunch of files, there'd still be some degree of quality control, but that would be less likely than two or more running through everything.

Re: Discussion: Digital Storm Rebirth

You know, I had actually thought about sending you an e-mail and asking if it might be feasible for us to use your machine for a tournament. XD

Certainly ask him! If there was some way to quickly and easily move a machine, I'd say you could put it at my place for the day so as not to put anyone out, but that's expensive and kind of silly. Tongue

I would so look cuter than her if I could find a pair of UGGs that would fit me.

Re: Discussion: Digital Storm Rebirth

I'm going out on a limb here, but there's a chance my pals and I might be willing to use our machine for the event. It's in pretty good shape (I'd say at least as good as Acme's ITG2). The only thing is, it's in Null's house, and I'd have to know what this event entails so I can ask him if he's cool with it.

Arcades may have gone away, but their culture is not gone.

If you want me to help administrate this, I'd be happy to sort through files. I'd probably enter Challenge, but not a straight ITG tournament, since I don't have the stamina anyway.

Re: Discussion: Digital Storm Rebirth

I love how you asked me first. Wink But seriously, that would be awesome and I'd be happy to do it!

Are we going to do what we did for DS2 and load custom songs onto the machine?

Hey, the 'c' was not capitalized.

I dunno. I liked doing that, as it made people who paid attention gain a logical advantage.

My problem is that while I may right now have the time to look over simfiles, I can't guarantee I will be able to the closer to April I get. If somebody wants to volunteer time to do that, great. If not, then we play vanilla ITG/DDR.
