We can add songs to the Acme Bowl ITG cabinet now.

I'm in charge of this, so basically this is how it works:

1. Post in the thread a link to the song that you want added to the machine. Make sure the audio is in the correct format, the SM file works with R21 syncing, and that you have a banner/background file if you don't want a generic one.
2. I'll play the song on my custom ITG build, and tell you if it's appropriate to add to the Acme machine.
3. Barring any weird stuff going on in my life, I'll add the song to the Acme ITG cabinet next time I do an update. This should occur fairly frequently.
4. If you have a song that you want added but don't have the file yourself (or it's a really common file), just post the song name and author and I'll look for it. I have all the DDR song packs converted for hacking, so that should be possible to add immediately.

Current Added Songs/Packs
ITG3
ITG Rebirth
Customs 1:
 Loituma (12) (syncing is correct)
Lucky (9) (syncing untested, let me know)
Seven (11) (syncing untested, let me know)
Shades of Blue (10) (syncing untested, let me know)
The Final Hour (12) (syncing untested, let me know)
Boten Anna (11) (syncing untested, let me know)
Candyman (10) (slightly late, will fix)
Crazy Loop (11) (syncing untested, let me know)
Feels Like That Night (10) (syncing untested, let me know)
Infernoplex (12) (syncing untested, let me know)
Listen to Your Heart (10) (syncing untested, let me know)
Tricky Disco (10) (syncing is correct)
I Can Walk on Water, I Can Fly (11) (syncing untested, let me know)
Heaven (11) (syncing untested, let me know)
Flash Exclusives ^_^ & Friends v2
Songs to be added on 5/xx/10
More Flash Exclusives stuff

...and of course more requests!

Other nice things
OpenITG beta2 installed
ITG3 Theme
ITG Empress theme (will be fixed soon)
Song Wheel Speed is set to Very Fast
Custom Speed Mods
A couple marathons.

Other planned hacks currently:[/b]
ITG Gold Theme (probably in May)
Theme Switcher (enter a pad code on the main menu, and a menu will pop up letting you switch the theme before your game)

Honestly, now with userpacks in OpenITG, it's super easy to install new songs. All you need is a USB drive and access to the operator menu. The part that will take the longest is transferring from the USB to the HDD on the machine, which for 50-ish songs without videos shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

Kevin mentioned a while back about remotely logging into the machine and transferring packs over the internet to the machine.

There's an ethernet port behind ITG3 that Bill is willing to plug into; but does anyone else have details on the remote management part?

Tom and I just did that to our machine(s). It's pretty slick, but to be honest, I think it's an excessive extravagance. It'd take at least an hour or more to setup correctly, even if someone knows what they're doing. They'd also need access to Acme Bowl's network to create static IPs for the machine and to setup an FTP port to it.

The time, energy and work effort to set something like that up just seems a bit ridiculous when you can just go load a Userpack of the top 50-100 requested song in 10 minutes and hardly any additional effort. Then, 2 or 3 months later, when that list needs updating, just delete the old pack and reinstall the new one. I think the high scores are even preserved as long as the directory and song name aren't any different.

Userpacks make things so easy, and they require zero knowledge about coding, networking, or anything else. Maybe the network thing could work in the long run, but what I'm trying to get at is that anyone can do userpack updates quickly and easily, as long as they have access to the operator menu.

Heads up!
Someone was at Acme a few nights ago, and was playing an ITG song that managment said was extremely offensive, and it was loud enough for some people to hear out by the lanes and complain about.  We were oredered to cut the volume a bit, and figure out if the song is in the machine or could it have been playing from someones USB that they said was hooked up?
Anyhow, HELP!  We have to remove that song, or get people to vow to keep it decent to smooth the situation.

Thanks guys
BTW, great seeing many of you at the tournament Saturday.

Hmm, depending on their network settings, that could be a pain. :\

It's likely to have been KeyboardCrusher or TapiocaGameKeyboardCrusher from the "Flash Exclusives ^_^ & Friends" pack. Since those are pretty much just remixed versions of a German boy angrily shouting. (and they're very loud music files to boot)

However it's also possible that the offensive song could have been another custom one that a random player brought with him or her on a usb traveldrive.

This is one of the biggest problems with ITG2's custom USB songs, you simply can't control it. You could have someone playing a terrible hip-hop song with the most offensive lyrics imaginable and you can't prevent it, you can only react to it.

I suggest making a small sign next to the USB that says,
"Do not play songs with offensive language. If you do, you will be asked to leave the arcade and you may get banned", or something to that affect.

Also, it amazes me how oblivious and selfish people can be. If you're in a public place, have respect for those around you. Just because you love listening to Soulja Boy so loud that it can make your ears bleed doesn't mean others want to. Plus, there are usually kids around. THINK OF THE CHILDREN! T_T

Okay, today I perked up the volume just a tad.  Let me know when we have this all under control, and we can inch it up again.  the offensive song was WAAAY louder than a standard volume song, the staff there tells me.  Thx for the help peoples!  :-)

I know specifically the song that was played. As it appears on a USB card it's a song called "Pu**y Pu**y" (you all know obviously), a semi-popular song I guess off groovestats.com, and it's full of obscene lyrics and yes the individual song file can be jacked up in volume manually. I've told people not to play this when there are kids around especially, but obviously some dumb shit decided to anyway. As I've said I will continue to tell people not to play this crap and hopefully it will help.
I've also been playing at Acme the last few days and checking on the volume. It's still pretty low. It was a great volume for months, and I left for Europe for 2 weeks and came back to it being even louder. I had figured it would be lowered but I had hoped not as much as it is now. Right now after the most recent change it's basically playable if the arcade is empty, but on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun evenings it will basically be unplayable over the noise generated by other machines and people in the arcade. Even just the Supernova2 machine basically drowns out the ITG machine. I guess I'm just hoping to get it bumped back up to where it was for the last few months before it got upped to as loud as its been the last couple weeks. I was thinking of putting a sign on the machine saying something to the effect of "No custom songs with obscene lyrics" if this would help. I believe the volume knob is supposed to be straight up, but I'm not positive. Anyway thanks Bill for looking into it! Sorry we still have some dumbasses in the community, the word has spread pretty well amongst the players at Acme and people will be on the lookout for the people playing these songs. Thanks again!

People and their stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

I'm not going to lie - I don't "think of the children" and probably never will - I just don't have that "give a damn" instinct when it comes to protecting kids. I may have said "fuck" loudly once when I blew a triple star, then turned around to notice a small child and angry parent behind me. Tongue

That said, there's a difference between being oblivious and going out of your way to be offensive. Sure, we all want to play Powerthirst and the funny version of Fury of the Storm, but we understand that can't because ACME is a public place. The types of patrons who do play these songs are pretty much always wimpy man-boys who want  to be associated with the gang activity they're too afraid to participate in. Being offensive doesn't make you "gangster," bustin' a cap in someone's ass does - and there are many better places to enjoy a good old fashioned homicide than ACME Bowl - perhaps driving by a rival gang member on the street your vehicle, or in Compton.

...Hell, maybe if the sign said THAT, some of these people would listen. Wink Until then, Gerrak can be the official Acme Custom Song Police. Either that, or we can resolve the everybody collaborating/putting songs on the machine issue and do away with USBs all together so that no offensive custom songs can be played (please don't lynch me for this suggestion, I'm just trying to help.)

Edit: Also, @Suko: the point of remote management for songs is more that it gives more people the ability to add songs to the machine, since Bill wouldn't have to give everybody keys to his machine for us to do that. It would end a lot of bickering over the content of the machine.

I do intend on keeping close watch on it. And I'll be typing up a sign to put on the machine tonight regarding the issue. I'll post up again when I have specifically what it says but I assume I wouldn't be out of line to say something to the effect of "On behalf of Acme and PNWBemani, no custom songs with obscene lyrics or else you may be asked to leave." Hopefully this will help.

Niiiiiice.

It occurs to me that we could also get some sort of loud instrument or device and manually bleep the songs. Tongue

I am printing up the sign and will post it up on the machine tonight. It says:

"Attention ITG Players!
There have been complaints of players using the USB Custom Song feature to play songs that have overtly obscene lyrics. It should go without saying that Acme Bowl is a public, family environment and this is entirely inappropriate. In order to provide for an enjoyable experience for everyone within earshot of the ITG machine, custom songs with profane lyrics will no longer be allowed. If you cannot find the maturity to abide by this obvious courtesy to others, you may be asked to leave and we as a community may suffer drastically reduced volume or removal of custom songs as a result. No one wants this, so please keep it clean! Thank you for your consideration!
Allan Hendrickson (“Gerrak”)
On behalf of Acme Bowl and PNWBemani.net"

I hope this is sufficient to stop the problem Smiley If there are any changes you want me to make to the message, I can print up a new sheet and put it up Monday.

Edit:
Lol@Suko, we can try this instead if it doesnt work:
"Attention ITG Players!
There gots been complaints o' players usin' da USB Custom Song feature ta play songs dat gots overtly obscene lyrics. It should jet without saying dat Acme Bowl iz uh public, family environment an' dis here iz entirely inappropriate. In order ta provide fo' an enjoyable experience fo' brothas within earshot o' da ITG machine, custom songs wiff profane lyrics will nahh longer be allowed. Thanks Allan, I like the sign idea.  How is the volume as of Thursday?  I know it's not as loud as it once was, but it did get jacked up a bit.  Hopefully we can slide it up a bit more once these asshats chill with the obscene songs.

Many thanks to the community for jumping on this, you are all awesome!

Agreed.  It just needs to say something short like "Please Note: The playing of custom songs with offensive lyrics will result in a suspension and/or ban.  Thank you."

It's better that the sign be short, sweet, and to the point so people will quickly read it and abide.  I tend to ignore really long signs myself.

I would like someone to test out my stepchart I just made: http://rapidshare.com/files/440699829/Firework.zip

I didn't do a lot to edit it, but tell me what you think.
Honesty helps.  It's been about 3 years since I last made a stepchart.

Yes, I know it's Katy Perry.  But when I heard the song, the stepchart instantly came to me.

I haven't tested it yet because our machine's USB slots don't work. Sad
