Extreme went to the 2.00 movie bargain theatre in Federal Way, Gateway Movies 8.  There was not enough continued interest to maintain having four arrow smashing games at Narrows.

I went there hoping to play a 5th mix...  I mean I do like that they have an ITG2 with a working mem slot...
I'll have to check out other locations to play the older mixes--it'd be nice to play an extreme or 5th or hell a 3rd mix...  I'm sick of Dancing Stage--it's nice to see DDR machines again.

So since the V3 DM is out of commission I stopped by Narrows when I was down in Tacoma this past weekend to play the DM 10th.
Bill I have to say this is still a great machine and more responsive than even the V3 was.

Only complaint is that the volume is too low on both it and the GF 11th, so it anyone is playing air hockey or the DDR games you can barely hear the song.

Other than that, sitting pretty.
Best,
Chris

Though the same could be said for the ITG2 machine...  Air Hockey and GF/DM are too loud and distracting...  Heh.

Hey, kind of cross posting from DDR Freak; they told me pnwbemani is the hot place nowadays.

Just wanted to shoot out a message.  This is Vultaire, or VULT as some knew me - former regular at Narrows, lost a bit of weight doing obsessive amounts of ITG and Extreme.

3 years ago I moved to Japan, but I'll be visiting the States from June 5th through the 13th.  Just was curious if any of the old regulars (3 years past) still go to Narrows, Acme, or wherever.  Just hoping for the chance to bump into some familiar faces, perhaps.

Thanks!

I wish they'd move the guitar freaks, drummania and air hockey table away from the DDR machines...  They are quite distracting there at Narrows.  Oh and maybe add an A/C or Fan...  It gets hot there very fast...

Bill, What's the current machine status so I can update the front post?

ITG2, Super Nova, DM & GF is about it for rythem games.  Other highlights would include Rambo, TC4, and Max Tune 3DX and ID4.

What are the chances of upgrading the ITG2 machine? I went there last week and the place seemed dead as usual. Not really sure about how hard it would be for it to be upgraded. If the machines allowed better use of the usb drive, it wouldn't be that bad, but the limits on the songs kind of kills the selection of songs I can bring with me.

All you would need to do is rent Kevin an apartment there near Narrows.  I bet he would have that cabinet upgraded to ITG3 real quick.  It is Kevin that is to be thanked for the Acme update goodness.

I might actually do it one day, but it's a little harder for upgrade cabinets. To make a long story short, upgrade cabinet's monitors don't work when you're doing the hacking. As you can imagine, this makes things a little harder. You generally either have to have a list of keystrokes to input or hook up an external monitor. If I get some time (and hey, I'm going to Narrows now more since Tetris The Grand Master moved there), I'll see what I can do. I'd probably install a different theme than the ITG3 theme though, just to keep things interesting. Everything else would probably be just the same as Acme.

sounds good, if you need me to bring a monitor, I can try and bring mine, depending on what kind of hook up it requires. I'm free most nights, and it only takes about 25 minutes for me to get there.

Bill,
Stopped by here yesterday and played an hour of DM10th.  Machine is in great condition, very responsive.  ONly issue is the monitor is old so colors are a bit faded and can blur together in my mind causing me to miss a few sections but that's my own inability to adapt at fault.
Thanks again for keeping this DM10 in top condition even while ACME is without the V3.

Yeah, I have to say kudos on the shape of the DM machine too. I went last weekend and it was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it along with TGM of course. Tongue

Thanks for the kind words guys, appreciate it!  It is a lot of work keeping that thing up in relation to pretty low revenue.  But worth it for something unique.

Semi related note, the V# boards have been sent out for a hopeful repair.  But already hearing it could be a cost prohibitive process.  We shall see, and will keep you all posted.
May be time to search out replacement V system boards.  Or at least one for the DM.  GF seems to be pretty dead nowadays, while DM at least gets a little love.

It might be cheaper to upgrade to the V4/V5/V6 system boards. Those are going for pretty cheap lately.

Yea, that is what I was thinking as well.

I like this line of reasoning! =D

But of course, would be awesome to have just the V3 remain commercially-viable to fix.  Do we just have bad luck or are those PS2 boards just that crappy?
