Hi Blanket,

Anscik recently changed how he'd like the song request process to work.
Please see this thread for the changes: http://www.pnwbemani.net/western-wa/acme-itg-issue-tracker/

This thread is now locked.

Honestly they've all been bad. Have been trying to fix them but can't quite make them 100%. I dunno why they've been acting up lately. Ill take another look tomorrow morning.

MP3 or Ogg works. Use standard settings and nothing exotic. I use OpenITG when I do my chart work because I'm positive that it'll work on an ITG cabinet. You can use Stepmania to construct charts, but be sure to open/save it in OpenITG to make sure it's formatted correctly.

i'm planning on making a new file for the new Linkin Park song "A Light That Never Comes". i thought i'd format it so it could be added to the ITG machine, so i wanted to ask what the specifications need to be? can oITG take any song in any format recognizable like MP3 or does it need to be specifically like the original ITG2, with an .ogg at 48 kHz so it doesn't play too fast?

I completely agree. Whoever thought that AIR is just a 12 is out of their mind.
A lot of the classic stepmania charts (like AIR & Quasar if I'm not mistaken) came out before ITG, when the top of the scale was 10 (Which covered a pretty wide range of difficulties, from Sakura to PSMO). Going above that was a pretty big deal, and you could only really get to 13 with the stock stepmania skin (it had feet going up to 10, and there was room for about 3 extra feet). So some sort of stepchart difficulty standard emerged. Anyways, that's why Air is a 12, Quasar Hard and Expert are 10 and 13, and so on. (correct me if I'm wrong here)
Anyways, the misrating is generally not an issue of the charter having no idea how difficult a song actually is, it's simply rating them on a completely different scale. Finding the songs to check out should be as simple as looking at who charted it.

Advice: Use ITG's popularity indicator. If a custom is below a certain popularity after being on the machine for 3+ months, pull it.

I know it's not a perfect means of purging, but it's simple.

Just make sure you super-compress the video and reduce it's size. These machines need the video as small as possible to prevent lag issues. I use 320 x 240 res and 512 bitrate on mine. It looks fine on the ITG cabinet's CRT monitor and reduces the file to < 5mb.

That's not easy to do. Well, at least it's not easy to do it right. That video is for the full version of the song, while the ITG one is almost half as long. You could always ask Gosha to make a short edit version. Then it's as simple as dropping it into the song's BG folder and editing the .SM file to play it.

I am printing up the sign and will post it up on the machine tonight. It says:

"Attention ITG Players!
There have been complaints of players using the USB Custom Song feature to play songs that have overtly obscene lyrics. It should go without saying that Acme Bowl is a public, family environment and this is entirely inappropriate. In order to provide for an enjoyable experience for everyone within earshot of the ITG machine, custom songs with profane lyrics will no longer be allowed. If you cannot find the maturity to abide by this obvious courtesy to others, you may be asked to leave and we as a community may suffer drastically reduced volume or removal of custom songs as a result. No one wants this, so please keep it clean! Thank you for your consideration!
Allan Hendrickson (“Gerrak”)
On behalf of Acme Bowl and PNWBemani.net"

I hope this is sufficient to stop the problem Smiley If there are any changes you want me to make to the message, I can print up a new sheet and put it up Monday.

Edit:
Lol@Suko, we can try this instead if it doesnt work:
"Attention ITG Players!
There gots been complaints o' players usin' da USB Custom Song feature ta play songs dat gots overtly obscene lyrics. We can add songs to the Acme Bowl ITG cabinet now.

I'm in charge of this, so basically this is how it works:

1. Post in the thread a link to the song that you want added to the machine. Make sure the audio is in the correct format, the SM file works with R21 syncing, and that you have a banner/background file if you don't want a generic one.
2. I'll play the song on my custom ITG build, and tell you if it's appropriate to add to the Acme machine.
3. Barring any weird stuff going on in my life, I'll add the song to the Acme ITG cabinet next time I do an update. This should occur fairly frequently.
4. If you have a song that you want added but don't have the file yourself (or it's a really common file), just post the song name and author and I'll look for it. I have all the DDR song packs converted for hacking, so that should be possible to add immediately.

Heads up!
Someone was at Acme a few nights ago, and was playing an ITG song that managment said was extremely offensive, and it was loud enough for some people to hear out by the lanes and complain about.  We were oredered to cut the volume a bit, and figure out if the song is in the machine or could it have been playing from someones USB that they said was hooked up?
Anyhow, HELP!  We have to remove that song, or get people to vow to keep it decent to smooth the situation.

Thanks guys
BTW, great seeing many of you at the tournament Saturday.

I know specifically the song that was played. As it appears on a USB card it's a song called "Pu**y Pu**y" (you all know obviously), a semi-popular song I guess off groovestats.com, and it's full of obscene lyrics and yes the individual song file can be jacked up in volume manually. I've told people not to play this when there are kids around especially, but obviously some dumb shit decided to anyway. As I've said I will continue to tell people not to play this crap and hopefully it will help.
I've also been playing at Acme the last few days and checking on the volume. It's still pretty low. It was a great volume for months, and I left for Europe for 2 weeks and came back to it being even louder. I had figured it would be lowered but I had hoped not as much as it is now. Right now after the most recent change it's basically playable if the arcade is empty, but on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun evenings it will basically be unplayable over the noise generated by other machines and people in the arcade. Even just the Supernova2 machine basically drowns out the ITG machine. I guess I'm just hoping to get it bumped back up to where it was for the last few months before it got upped to as loud as its been the last couple weeks. I was thinking of putting a sign on the machine saying something to the effect of "No custom songs with obscene lyrics" if this would help. I believe the volume knob is supposed to be straight up, but I'm not positive. Anyway thanks Bill for looking into it! Sorry we still have some dumbasses in the community, the word has spread pretty well amongst the players at Acme and people will be on the lookout for the people playing these songs. Thanks again!

This is one of the biggest problems with ITG2's custom USB songs, you simply can't control it. You could have someone playing a terrible hip-hop song with the most offensive lyrics imaginable and you can't prevent it, you can only react to it.

I suggest making a small sign next to the USB that says,
"Do not play songs with offensive language. If you do, you will be asked to leave the arcade and you may get banned", or something to that affect.

Also, it amazes me how oblivious and selfish people can be. If you're in a public place, have respect for those around you. Just because you love listening to Soulja Boy so loud that it can make your ears bleed doesn't mean others want to. Plus, there are usually kids around. THINK OF THE CHILDREN! T_T

It's likely to have been KeyboardCrusher or TapiocaGameKeyboardCrusher from the "Flash Exclusives ^_^ & Friends" pack. Since those are pretty much just remixed versions of a German boy angrily shouting. (and they're very loud music files to boot)

However it's also possible that the offensive song could have been another custom one that a random player brought with him or her on a usb traveldrive.

There's an ethernet port behind ITG3 that Bill is willing to plug into; but does anyone else have details on the remote management part?

Acme's ITG will be updated to OpenITG beta3 (test version) when I get back from England on August 25. This update will fix I/O issues and timing should feel better. Requested songs will also be added. I believe I've fixed the issue with the Empress theme, so that might get added again as well.

Okay! I managed to get a USB drive to work eventually and then proceeded to install OpenITG Beta 2. It fixed all of the USB problems! Woohoo!

The game is also running the ITG3 theme again. Let me know if any odd things happen.

Woohoo!

Hopefully it won't reset to ITG2 when we reset the machine lol.
Anyways good news. Hows the IIDX empress theme coming along?

The Empress theme is crashing on the song select screen. I'm not sure why; I'll try and figure it out soon. It's a really really good looking theme. Judgments are totally different as well.

I rebooted the machine after it started up in ITG3 just to make sure that it wouldn't switch back. It worked fine for me, hopefully it does for you too. Also, be prepared to wait a while after the green screen shows up...I don't know what changed in OpenITG beta 2 but for some reason it hangs on a black screen loading FOREVER. Don't think it's crashed, though, it just takes a little longer to boot.

Also I am kind of really back into dancing games again so expect me down at Acme every week from now on. Cheesy

Also is there an option to turn fail to instant instead of fail after a 30 combo miss?

Also, I restarted the machine tonight and it reverted back into the ITG2 theme.

Okay, everything is done!

There are still some issues, but obviously that comes with adding new things.

+ Cutoffs are now 10:00 for any individual song, with 3:00+ counting as 2 stages and 5:30 counting as a full set.
+ Flash Exclusives & Friends v2 pack installed, syncing is good
+ Groovestats "Customs 1" pack installed, everything (I think) is late (again, I think). They're not unplayable, but they will be resynced ASAP.
- USB stuff didn't work for me. The machine complained about the USB hub being disconnected, but this is definitely not the case as the ports worked fine when I was booting into Linux off of them. I think this is either a theme problem or an OpenITG problem, but do let me know if any of you manage to get the ports working with your drives. I couldn't install the newest build of OpenITG as a result of this. I would have used the port inside the cabinet, but I didn't have a screwdriver with me to open the cabinet up as I didn't think it was going to be necessary.
- IIDX Empress theme installed, but it doesn't work so we're still using the ITG3 theme.

I checked and the timing windows are DEFINITELY smaller than normal. I'm not changing them to normal unless there is an overwhelming consensus that it's what people want.

Anyway, I updated the first post. Again, please please PLEASE post if anyone gets the USB ports working at all. I really need to know if they are completely unusable in order to get this problem fixed.

Kevin,

Since our USB sticks aren't working on ITG right now, any updates on putting some more songs on the machine? I really miss playing stuff like Lucky, Spinning Around, and all that good stuff. Any chance we could do a content update?
