Just fyi, I'm fairly certain that no one within this forum has permission to perform maintenance on the ITG cab in Another Castle.

From my understanding, Evan (employed mechanic for AC) went through a similar kind of incident to Bill with the cab at Acme.. A handful of people from the area were all doing their own thing with the pads and eventually Evan banned any outside interference unless he's supervising.

Sometimes just simultaneously pressing the Left and Right buttons adjacent to the Start button will work, but it's rare. I think there is a common issue with the Beta2 build of OpenITG that messes with the default key configuration, since I have a similar discrepancy with my own cab... It's hard to explain though.

Sadly, I think the "easiest" solution would be cutting a couple holes in the front of the cab, adding a couple of those red buttons that you'd typically see on an ITG dedicab and assign it to the Shift key. Then players could easily sort via tapping the Red/Green buttons.

USBs profile ports are not set up.. and I doubt the owner will be in favor of adding that. He's had occasional issues with people  breaking into the PC with keyboards already, so adding a new hub to the front for easy access wouldn't make sense : \

This is a shame.  I can completely understand the owners apprehension though.

And I apologize in advance, but this comment triggered rant mode; The dance game community was way too self-entitled back in 2008 - 2012. There were many players who felt it was their RIGHT to hack machines to make them "better", even though they forgot or ignored the fact that it wasn't their machine and they don't own it or have to maintain it when things break. Whenever I come across and ITG machine that looks glitched out and has its software failing, I just KNOW it was because some script kiddies tried to crack it open, half-way succeeded and then left it for someone else to deal with.

Is there a list somewhere of what packs are on the machine? Is it USB enabled?

As far as song packs, there's no record out there of what's presently on it. I can only recall about half of them, so at the very least there are these ones:
    • DDR 1st-8th Mix
    • Easy As Pie 1-3
    • Gerrak's Recommended (custom pack)
    ITG 1-3 and Rebirth
    • Legend of Zim 1-4
    • Mute Sims 1-8
    • Our Princess Is In ____ (custom pack)
    • Piece of Cake 1-3
    • Pendulum Act 1
    • Touhou Hokyouso ~ Lunatic Dance Floor
    • Try To Quad (local tourny pack)

Bothell? Well I'll be damned..So do I. Always nice to meet someone close that plays dancing games as well. Maybe you can be part of the Tukwila DDR Ace carpool squad that we have going. And Zach you need to change your profile location dude. You don't live in Redmond haha.
Yep! Just moved here not even a week ago. Trying to feel out the ddr/itg scene here.

Anyone know the status of this machine? Just recently moved to Bothell and this looks like the closest machine to me.
Hey Simx.
I think I can comment, since I was just there a few days ago..
The LeftPlayer side has being having some off/on issues with the Up and Down arrows. Currently the RightPlayer is really good though.

Keep in mind of course, this is a hacked Max2 ddr cab that's running ITG with flushed arrows, so you may have to play with slightly different form than you would for an ITG dedicab ~

Changes to the ITG cab today:

1) better PC swapped in with a decent graphic/video card, so no more lag on SummerRain and foreground-heavy songs
2) song timer activated... 120 seconds
3) a couple unplayed packs have been removed
4) a bug was fixed, so when both players press the Start button you no longer revert back to the previous screen

Keep things... whatever [way] you want. I'd just reallllly like to be able to decently pass a 7-foot doubles chart due to pads that work. I don't even need them to be perfect or anything, just playable.

This. So much this.
Coming from a kid who primarily plays ITG singles past 13s, I can not enjoy a game with pads that don't let you pass Doubles 7s.
I may like pads that work for me if I stream at like 200BPM, but I also want them to work if I played doubles. It can't just work for one or the other. It should be adjusted to work for ANYBODY that plays ANY style.

Another Castle is a classic arcade game arcade. The entire point of an arcade like that is to play CLASSIC games that are accessible to everyone.

A custom built ITG machine with modded pads is entirely the wrong reason of having a DDR machine at a classic arcade. ACME is not a classic arcade. Gameworks is not a classic arcade. Either of those locations makes sense for a cutting edge ITG modded cabinet. Another Castle is the wrong place for pads that can only be used for single players on ITG songs.
Caravaggio would not be pleased to have Jesus' hand in his side replaced with an arrow and baby powder

The first time I visited Another Castle and I get there to find another cabinet with completely unplayable doubles thanks to mods made by ITG'ers this week.
On Saturday, M477 failed a double 9 on the 1st stage because of the shitty mods.

Get good or go home.

BluesS, in all seriousness, check out Evergreen Lanes. Yeah, it's a bit of a drive, but that machine was pretty darn nice. I'll be honest, I haven't played there in about 1 year, but assuming my last vigilante pad repair job held up, doubles should be do-able.

Nono, see, it's your fault for not using baby powder.

AKA: why I don't bother going to arcades to play ITG anymore.
I know there's this impression that DDR players just aren't as dedicated as the ITG players, but I see it more as a lack of suitable environment for DDR players as the reason they're not around anymore. Those who DON'T want to play super-intense uber mode are left out in the cold, since the machines are all being modded and converted, leaving precious few machines around in their original format.

Dang it, guys!

The first time I visited Another Castle and I get there to find another cabinet with completely unplayable doubles thanks to mods made by ITG'ers this week.

The cabinet was converted from MAX2 to an OpenITG Cabinet, and apparently only the inside sensors are left remaining.

PLEASE FREAKIN MAKE THE OTHER SENSORS WORK AGAIN.

I failed 2 sets of doubles (playing a 7 and an 8 foot chart) due to how terrible the pads were. This was highly disappointing.

ALSO: Having all of the DDR songs from 1st - SuperNova2 in ONE BIG FOLDER is annoying as well. Pretty soon there won't be any working un-ITG'ed DDR machines around worth playing on because all the rest will be converted to OpenITG. Ugh.
