pads will be replaced soon. A new monitor is also on the way

wait really?  Maybe I'll play there a little more since I have no time to go to acme lately anyway.

You people are too young to remember when DDR Ex first came to the HUB.  I played me some 5th mix, went back to my dorm, checked the internet and people said "the HUB got extreme."
Of course I replied with "what the fuck are you talking about, I was there a couple hours ago"
So I went back and there was extreme.  Good times.

I also met Chris at the hub.  Both foy and danford.  And Kyle ward.  Nobody else that anybody would know though.

The screen hasn't been replaced. The 1P pads were in very good condition two days ago though.
Very good = me getting AA's on two different 9's in the same set (doesn't happen often for me).

I have not played in awhile and will be going to the HUB today (4-6ish) and most likely be playing here every now and then.
hope to meet some people that play at this location, also I will likely have juggling stuff with me so say hi if you see me there.  (hope the pads are still good)

Laura and I might be there around 4ish... maybe even Tony (ancsik) at some time too.

BUMP FOR GREAT JUSTICE

NEW MONITOR!!! SOLO NOW LOOKS DIFFERENT FROM NONSOLO!!!

Pads still not so good, but Kevin thinks 2P is now better than 1P. Weird.

I left a note that the inside sensors in the up and down arrows are weak and need to be switched with the outside ones. I dunno if they'll do anything about it though.

QFT@ the new monitor. It's awesome!

Also, yeah the 2P side is a lot better than 1P now. I FC'd So Deep on it. The machine is playable again!

Machine is in standard Extreme machine condition. Pads are slightly dirty as of this morning...

however the more important update for the HUB Game Room is now they have the whole section where arcade games used to be replaced with CONSOLE GAMES. This is actually pretty cool, for those who don't have a machine or want to play with other people.

It's $4/hour per console no matter how many play, and they have Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360 version) setup in the corner as well. So then it's only $1/hour if you split it between 4 people, and it's prorated so if you only play for half an hour it's $0.50/person.

The remaining arcade machines have been moved into the pool table room, and a few of the low money making ones are gone. The extreme machine is against the north wall, so it's easily visible from most of the tables in the room (which gives it a much better feel than the cramped room it used to be in).

Still $0.50/3 songs and the volume was low but I asked the lady about it and she said she was going to turn it up since the fighting games next to it almost overpower the volume.

So yeah, I even was thinking that some sort of rock band tournament would be possible down there now. Tongue

They now have Halo3 nights on Monday nights, and Rock Band Tuesday nights. Check their website for more details.

The DDR machine is at a decent volume, except when people turn on the Jukebox. Good lord, it is impossible to hear anything from the DDR machine when the jukebox is playing. Demo mode is disabled for both the DDR machine and Tekken.

How are the pads doing? Normally P1 is the only side worth playing on (which sucks for doubles, which I try to play at the HUB since it's onle .50/game).

Well, I was just there and neither side appears to have problems. I AA'd Candy last week on 1p and got up to 359 combo on SoDeep on the 2p side today before my lack of skills kicked in.

Went there tonight and met Zecro. Smiley  Had some fun times on the pads.

Updates: Still $0.50 a player.
P1: Up arrow's bottom sensor is bad
P2: Up arrow not the best in general

If anyone is playing the jukebox, there is a speaker right above the machine to the left, and it's GREATLY distracting is there's a rap/rnb song playing (like Zecro said earlier).

The screen is a little dark in the bottom left, and a little flicker at the very top; but neither makes it unplayable.

@Zecro: I couldn't find the RSO for the Music Game Appreciation Club, do you have any more info on it?

Wow I guess those pads suck now. They were good the last time I went there in 2006. Oh well I can always go to Tower Lanes or Laser Fun Zone if I wanna play a quality DDR Extreme

Well they don't "Suck" yet... I could still AA songs on expert on them.

Pads are doing pretty OK, people who are not me can AA 9-foot songs, so it can't be that bad.

Incidentally, after BLueSS left I FC'd Let's Groove (on p1)

Welcome to the forum, Rule of Cool. Smiley  I'm pretty sure zecro still makes a few rounds on the machine. He said he used to play there frequently (when I met him back in November).

Thank you. I suppose I should tell everyone that I usually go here around lunchtime. If you see a medium-sized white dude with a substantial beard there, it's most likely me. (Hmm... my profile's looking a bit plain, maybe I should get on that.)

I suppose I should point out that the HUB is undergoing a renovation until 2012 and this arcade location is no longer valid. If you want to look at the gutted building, check out the cams on this site.

If you're in the area, I suggest visiting Pink Gorilla (relevant thread), which gets a fair bit of arrow-stomping action.

The Games Area is supposed to return in 2012, but until then this place is a construction zone, not an arcade.
