Re: [Arcade] Tech City Bowl - Kirkland, Washington

Funny you ask. I just went there today. The 1P side is "alright", but the bar is horrible. The 2P side is almost unplayable. In fact, I'd say it's unplayable. Every arrow sucks, especially 2P down. I called Amusement Services and left them a message about it, but I doubt anything will happen. They're supposed to be coming by tomorrow to fix the Neo Geo cab, and hopefully they'll do something about the misaligned left flipper on the Theatre of Magic pin as well. I doubt they care.

I hate to say it, but from my experience, you don't get very far by asking for permission to check things out. Usually they say they'll tell the tech dude and 4 months later it's still FUBAR. If I stop by I'll take a look at it. Yes, I will ask, but I'm hoping the machine is out of the eyes of the staff, because this makes doing some vigilante maintenance way easier.

Arcades may have gone away, but their culture is not gone.

Re: [Arcade] Tech City Bowl - Kirkland, Washington

UPDATE:
I went in there today and found they put in a DDR: 5th Mix, like they had a little while back when it was a sub for their Extreme.
This 5th Mix also has its appropriate marquee. It costs 50ยข (2 tokens) per play.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling it's the same machine as before, and it's just been given a new look. This is because the arrows are very prone to the same pad errors as before: unless you stomp considerably hard on the Right and Down arrows, they likely won't respond. Both sides are "playable", but from my perspective you would be taking a risk playing on Maniac mode.

Would someone who is a little experienced in maintaining/tweaking/cleaning these kinds of cabinets mind stopping by and asking the bowling staff if it would okay for them to have a look-see on the inside?

Yeah, I was there with a few people a week or so ago, and the machine is just gone.  It's a fairly new development.  I have a feeling she isn't coming back. =(

Ah, this has always been the closest location to me, but it's been Out of Order for the last couple months.

Latest I heard, they have removed their DDR Extreme and are not planning to replace it anytime soon. No dancing games to be had here anymore it seems.

We actually haven't been here in several months; we should probably go back and check it out since it's pretty close. Maybe some of us could even stop there tomorrow before going to the new Bellevue arcade.

I would so look cuter than her if I could find a pair of UGGs that would fit me.

Re: Tech City Bowl temporarily has SUPER CHEAP 5TH MIX!

If I didn't feel like the floor was constantly in the state of collapsing I'd probably play there more. But 5th Mix is one of my old-school faves and would be worth a couple plays, even if I cause catastrophic structural damage to the facilities.

Tech City Bowl temporarily has SUPER CHEAP 5TH MIX!

I just thought I'd let everyone know that Tech City Bowl in Kirkland, WA fried the CPU on their Extreme, and while they're waiting for the new one to arrive, they loaded 5th Mix up in the machine. It costs two tokens, which are a quarter each, so fifty cents total, and is set to five songs. Cheesy!

The pads on this are pretty sketchy; a couple of arrows on each have sensors that could be better. But, the phone number for the vending company was on the machine, so I called it in. This may mean that the pads will improve and there will still be SUPER CHEAP 5TH MIX!

Re: Location: Tech City Bowl (now with actual working machine!)

So a friend and I checked out this place yesterday and the machine is fine, pads are good and everything, it's just that it's in an UNSTABLE ROOM. The whole room shakes when you play, especially on the 2P side. I thought I was gonna fall through and die. MORTAL KOMBAT STYLE

Re: Location: Tech City Bowl (now with actual working machine!)

So I went to this arcade today.

The pads had kind of been falling apart recently, but today they were in condition at least as good as Acme's pads. I came really close to a bunch of AAAs, so I guess there's no problem with the pads anymore.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

I'm going to go ahead and say that changing it to ITG2 isn't going to make any more people go over there over wherever they go now.

ddr extreme is cooler if that means it won't cost as much to play as an itg2 upgrade. But heck, probably won't ever be going to this place anyway.

Anyone checked the Roxor site since Konami took ITG?  Yeah, that order form for upgrades kind of stopped existing when they lost the rights to the game.  Or they're hiding it well enough that I can't find it.  No upgrades anymore guys.  Kinda tends to happen when a company loses a major lawsuit, y'know.
