Josh, nice meeting you today; and nice to see you again Tuan!

We are in need of doubles players to test out the stage and give us some feed back.

No-bar DDR doubles player reporting here.

I played a set of ITG
then a set of PIU
then another set of ITG
then a set of DDR.

I wanted to play on all three machines because I haven't played on many machines over the past year and I wanted a good comparison between them. When standing on the ITG machine, I could definitely feel the edge between the pads and the brackets without trying hard. When playing doubles that requires going back and forth between the pads, I did notice a few points where I wasn't sure if I was indeed stepping on a pad or the stage. But I contrasted this with the over-excessive feeling of the stage/brackets that I experienced while playing PIU/DDR. I felt the arrows more on those because the arrows were recessed to the point that I was tripping over the height difference. After playing on the ITG's currently modded arrows, I've seen how much more fun doubles are when you're not tripping over the pad or repeatedly stepping on the screws holding the brackets up. I've played doubles my whole life stepping on brackets and I had gotten used to it. Now, I would prefer to play on the current ITG pads over any others. I had no sensor problems when hitting the outside of the pads; but I did have a lot of OOS sensor problems. (aka out of shape)

So everyone, please try them out. Yes, you feel the arrows less than the highly recessed DDR SN2 machine behind it, but it is much nicer not tripping up over the brackets.

I'll let the words of Taylor Swift close out my post.

Edit: Bah, my embedding code doesn't acknowledge the time markers. I wanted this to start playing at 1m40s. Tongue  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfWlot6h_JM&t=1m40s

@BLueSS,

That is great news Jonathan! I'm super thrilled that you liked the stage! My team and I really tried to make everything work for everyone and we will continue to do so!  Grin

I went to ACME yesterday between training at the gym and heading to the airport to do a quick set, holy cow there were lots of players there, so welcoming to the god king!  Kiss

Anyhow, the pads are fantastic. I was able to nearly 95 12s (highest previous on any 12 was just under 93) and response was fluid, clean, and it really works well with the flush arrow setup. Just wanted to vouch for it, thanks Bill, Chris, Abbye, and everyone else who worked on it. I'll be at ACME for a full set of sets on Friday night or Saturday sometime. Can't wait to see what kind of 99s I can get on 9s and 10s!

Went last night, and I'm happy to report (like everyone else) that for the first time in forever I didn't note any pad misses! It was very satisfying to get some FECs again.. or just full-combos for that matter.
 Cheesy

My one critique is that the pads are pretty slippery, as if there's a permanent small layer of WD-40 or invisible baby powder. This makes playing no-bar Singles harder and playing no-bar doubles (of anything 9 or higher) pretty much dangerous.
So... perfect score for the sensors yesterday, but it's shame that doubles has to played with bar use, unless I bring some Windex.

It won't fully solve the issue but I find wiping sweat off my face onto my shoe defeats powder, if it gets slippery over time, I suggest bringing a damp rag. Most people already bring a towel so just bring a small rag and the bathroom  is right there. I know it's one more thing, but I find windex makes things slippery as hell.
Just my two cents
When I would play no bar DDR back in the day I would notice the pads would get slippery from dirt and dust build up off of other peoples shoes. I always had a wet paper towel or rag when things got slippery. I just expected it way back in the day. Now days it's pretty common place for any public ITG machine to have powder all over it.

Hey Zac(H or K, I keep forgetting! Wait, no H or K?),

Glad to hear that the stage is working well for you! Makes me happy!  Cheesy

It has been a long time coming for the stage to work well with modding! It is now clear that the modding wasn't the issue but the sensors.

As far as the stage being slippery (a.k.a dangerous/hazardous/life-threatening/coma-inducing/cancerous/carcinogenic/etc...), I'd suggest grabbing a damp towel before starting play or as Andy B. suggested, bring an extra small towel for wiping. We've been doing our best to keep the stage powder free. We've stopped placing powder directly on the stage and we are using a minuscule amount to prevent any life-threatening scenario.  Wink

Other than that, I'm glad you like the stage!  Kiss Kiss Kiss

Was there a particular reason why the sexuality violation packs were removed?

I know that there were a few song that shouldn't have been allowed at ACME but that doesn't mean the entire pack should've been taken off.  Sad

I took SV1 off because it's redundant and multiple people have pointed it out to me. I took SV2 off by accident while deleting a few songs called out as inappropriate. It'll be back on there tomorrow morning.

Oh yeah, pads were perfect today. No errors at all over the course of 10 or so sets.

Thanks for putting the SV2 pack back on, a lot of people enjoy that pack!  Grin

Also, makes me really happy to hear that you didn't have any issues with the stage! We will continue to keep the stage maintained and in good condition.  Smiley

On other news:

To either Ben or Tony or whoever is in charge of modifying the pack list at ACME:

I have reviewed the Sexuality Violation pack and tried my best to censor anything that is inappropriate for a public family venue. I was too lazy to mix in music to areas I've silenced, so it will sound awkward sometimes when there's just an abrupt silence in the song.

Here are songs that I've cleaned:
  • Blurred Lines
  • Gas Pedal
  • Hollaback Girl - I've also pixelated the word "shit" in its graphics, and you can try to copy this to the IWSS2 pack Chris is requesting as well
  • Niggas in Paris - This song's in-game title and graphics have also been changed
  • Scream & Shout
  • White Walls
This is a link to download the edited/cleaned versions of the audio. Simply copy and paste to overwrite the folders to the same pack (I'm assuming you can just do that on the OS running?): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B02WHE9YpaYeVWZzaGgzVFYxbkE/edit?usp=sharing

Here are songs that are not at all decent and need to be removed entirely from the ACME Cab:
  • I Don't Like
  • Racks
  • Smell Yo Dick

Also, because SV2 is simply an expansion of SV, can we just have the first Sexuality Violation pack removed? Takes off some space.

Thanks.

about the SV pack, refer to this pl0x

EDIT: Omg, also, Tony, would you mind adding my Orange Chicken's Grooves pack please?: http://www.pnwbemani.net/bemani-discussion/orange-chicken's-grooves/
thank youuu

Alright, restored SV2 (with the inappropriate songs cleaned/removed), added Orange Chicken's pack and DDR Boss Songs.

Also took the USB box off, because it turns out the P1 port broke and needs to be replaced. The USB cables are dangling out of the machine right now because I forgot to bring tape. If anyone thinks to bring some tape with them (or is APHR and has it anyway), can someone just put a piece of tape across the P1 cable and the P2 cable/adapter so people are more likely to leave them alone until I can cut out the old USB faceplate next weekend and install something less ugly and harder to break than the box-taped-to-the-machine?

Hello,

Despite whatever plans there might be to change up the SN2 machine, until this change is actually made I would like to request that pad maintenance please still continue on the SN2 machine... I have called in 3 times to have the pad serviced. Now, hopefully the last time got the point across, but in case it didn't I wanted to report it up here also. Basically all of the arrows need to be serviced, on both sides, for being under-sensitive. I have born witness to lighter individuals being utterly unable to trigger things, and I've gotten tons of errors along similar lines. It is extremely discouraging and unreasonable for people to fail due to errors. Thank you to the appropriate parties for this consideration and service.

Regards,
G

The DDR sensors are under-sensitive?!  Embarrassed

I would take a look into it, but I haven't dealt with a DDR stage before and really haven't had to fix an under-sensitivity issue. Perhap, the stock foam on the L brackets are worn down to nothing, so maybe replacing that, or just adding a few layers of tape to compensate for the years of wear-and-tear could help alleviate that problem.

But, won't know until we try something, haha.  Grin

Allan, are you intentionally being rude to Bill about this?  The guy who just helped get us new sensors for ITG, and is ordering the upgrade?  You're being too aggressive about this and a bit entitled.

I played on the SN2 machine this week when I was testing the new ITG sensors, and I didn't have any problems with the machine. I'm only 130lb, so I'm generally included in the "lighter individuals" category. I was getting close to perfect combos despite being tired; not getting close to failing songs.

It's quite possible someone looked at the pads and called them good, just like I did when I played on them this week.

If you were having trouble because they were recessed, those pads are REALLY deep down, so if the people having problems have playing a lot of ITG lately, they could be not stepping hard enough to hit the pads or something...

Those pads should be nearly identical to ITG's sensors/brackets.

I made a video a while back on how to improve sensativity of the pads:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLkXsJK1tz0

If you want to increase sensitivity without raising the panels (i.e. the old school method), then just fold a few business cards and slide them under the sensors themselves. I've been doing this on my machine for years (and other arcade DDR pads) with great success.

Here's another article I made on the business card trick:
http://www.pnwbemani.net/articles/arcade-machine-maintenance/business-card-trick/23

Thank you for doing this, Tony!

Much appreciated!

Edit: Shoot, if i had seen your post i would've taped up the usb port for you since i am aphr now

also, i was reviewing the SV2 pack making sure our request was fulfilled, but there's one concern: N*ggas In Paris still has the same title as before

I have changed the simfile's metadata but i'm certain ACME's ITG is running on Fast Load and that its cache for SV2 may need to be reset. when it's "loading" up the banner, it shows the original picture but then it fades into the new cleaned picture

We did respond to the SN2 pad issue.  Sent a guy out a week ago, he cleaned the sensor area, added a few shims, and replaced a few sensors.  Says stage was "A-okay" when completed.  Not sure what is going with it now, seemed fine?
