[Arcade] Sunset Lanes - Beaverton, Oregon [Machine gone]

Sunset Lanes Bowling Center
12770 Southwest Walker Road
Beaverton, OR 97005
(503) 646-1116

open 7 days a week, but unsure of the exact hours of the arcade.  The site lists some odd times, like 11am-6:15pm, 9pm-midnight on Mondays, but I think that's due to the lanes being closed for events or leagues.  I've never had a problem with getting in the arcade.

Machine: DDR SuperNOVA 2, fully unlocked (thanks BBH)
Price: $.75/3 songs (point card system)
location: dead-center in the arcade, with its back to the Guitar Hero machine

Machine is gone

other music games: Guitar Hero, $1/1 song

Re: [Arcade] Sunset Lanes - Beaverton, Oregon [Machine gone]

I wish I'd played the machine more but it was hard to find the motivation to go when the pads were always so inconsistent. Plus there was nothing else worth playing there anyway.
Yeah, if the machine had worked consistently, I would've been there more often.  I always liked SN2 AC and Sunset is just a short drive from where I work.

Boohoo. My first location topic is now dead...

Bummer.  As unenthralled as I always have been by SN2 (particularly given the cost), it's a little disappointing to know that I don't have the option to walk 2 blocks to go play it any more.  Nowhere near as disappointing as Wunderland getting rid of their machines, but still, it makes a man flaccid when another DDR machine bites the dust. Sad

Putting in yet another lame ticket game makes things "fresh". Sure, whatever they say...

So to put a sort of close to this tragedy this is the reply I got from the manager of the place:

Hi Karl,

we did replace the DDR machine a couple weeks ago with a new game to keep the game room fresh. Right now we don't have any plans to bring DDR back. We sold it back to the manufacturer of the games and I don't know if they have any plans to put in at another location in the area.

Thanks and let me know if you have any other questions.
Aaron

So, yeah, they did it to keep the game room "fresh"...

Re: [Arcade] Sunset Lanes - Beaverton, Oregon [Machine gone]

Yeah I was pretty disappointed, I still have around $10 on my card that will basically go to waste now.  As for Cedar Hills, there is a Supernova machine there, but I never consider that machine as a viable playing option because of the whole 'having to buy a movie ticket' thing...... :/

I've emailed the staff at Sunset Lanes with questions about this change and I'll update this thread if I get a response.

god DAMMIT, I still have money on my card!

It's possible they moved the machine to a different bowling alley (?), but who knows

I have NO idea as to the reasoning of this change but needless to say I'm quite disappointed, now the closest machine to me is a DDR Extreme at Park Lanes in Hillsboro :/

what about the SN1 at Cedar Hills? oh wait they probably still don't let people in without a movie ticket, I hate that shit so much

If the machine isn't coming back I can lock the thread...

Re: [Arcade] Sunset Lanes - Beaverton, Oregon

I never had many problems with this machine as long as I used the left pad, the right pad was crappy everytime I ever used it. I usually went here a good 2-3 times a week for an hour or two per session, but none of that matters anymore since I went in today and the machine is GONE.....

They replaced it with one of these:

A friend who plays there regularly told me he has no problem FCing at Malibu regularly.  Maybe I just need to go there more, but I'd honestly rather play on an unreliable Max2 than an unreliable SN2, even if the prices were identical.

This machine always has a semi-dead arrow every time I've been there.  Both sides too, not just one.  Neigh unplayable for heavy or challenge since your combo will break every 2 seconds.

Re: [Arcade] Sunset Lanes - Beaverton, Oregon

I keep getting the urge to check this machine out, but never do.  It's about 15 minutes from my apartment, but just fails to appeal to me.  the price is too much when there's a 25-cent/game Max2 in more reliable condition within biking distance.
