It wouldn't hurt to contact the owner, express your enthusiasm for the genre (DDR/ITG/PIU) and request that they try to get one of those machines into their establishment. The worst they'd say is "no", but showing the owner how excited you are about their business can go a long way.

They have a freakin sitdown Spy Hunter cab, who cares about DDR?!?

It's pretty interesting though, the number of retro arcades in Oregon has grown within the last year. Along with Ground Kontrol of course, there have been two arcades that have opened in the Portland area in the last year alone - Envision Classics Arcade in Milwaukie and Stryker's Main Street Arcade in Oregon City. Too bad Arcade Kingdom in Clackamas mall closed down without warning.

There's also an arcade opening up in Salem called The Coin Jam, but I can not find any info on when it is scheduled to open.

I wonder if they are still planning on opening. They're Facebook page has been pretty much dead for a month or two.

On topic it seems like most of the requests for music games are falling on deaf ears. Back in the the mid 00's DDR would be pretty much a no brainer and it seem like every arcade had it. Now it seems like we are losing more machines than we are gaining. But who cares about DDR the real money is in a crummy arcade version of a five year old game with less songs and a worse controller than said home version. It almost makes me sick how many arcades have that awful Guitar Hero Arcade.

Ditto, though having been here a few times, I can see why. The atmosphere here is already so loud and chaotic that adding a loud music game would seem distracting. Plus, since it is a barcade, they already have DJs and music in the background.

Aside from that, it seems that there are only 3 DDR machines left in the Eugene/Springfield area:
-Extreme @Putters [Very old machine and it's not even fully unlocked, which is stupid. Angry]
-Megamix @Gateway Mall Tilt! [Korean bootleg version of Extreme, also very old]
-SuperNOVA @Gateway Mall Movies 12 [though still not perfect, it's the only decent machine left]

So is Ground Kontrol but they have a machine.

I wish there were more. I've been thinking about combing the various bowlings alleys and such one of these days and seeing if I can find an overlooked solo machine or something. I'm kind of desperate for some old school DDR.

So they finally got Beatmania. It's a core mix but it's a start.

Yeah, it's a start. Could be in better shape, but I'm not complaining at the moment.
Love So Groovy (Sleep Mix) Normal 160k FC beatmania CORE REMIX AC

More game footage is on my channel.

I also heard that they're trying to get DDR into this arcade too.
Don't know which mix, though.

Oh, and their Facebook URL has changed: http://www.facebook.com/leveluparcade
And the arcade has its own website now: http://www.leveluparcade.com/

Drove down from OSU on Saturday to check out the arcade.  It's not too bad at all.  A handful of top-down shooters is what I mostly played and had a round of beatmania, which I'm terrible at.  $.25-$.50 for most games.  It was $.50 for beatmania.  Feels a lot roomier than GK but I wish there was ITG or something.

There was also a Reddit meetup with a lot of awkward looking people which me and my girlfriend ended up avoiding mostly due to the people that were there...
