Hello All,    [please check the last page for latest updates!]

This thread is for keeping a running list of all the Eugene / Springfield machine locations since most of the other info out there is either outdated or nearly impossible to find. Please comment below with any information you have on machines in this area. I will add them to this first post in a nice list. I will continue to update this list whenever new information pops up. Thanks!

Eugene:

  • Venue: Round 1 - Valley River Center Mall [293 Valley River Center, Eugene, OR]
Cab: Pump It Up and more (see link below) but no DDR, ITG, or SM.
Cost: 6.4 Credits for 3 songs, apparently

  • Venue: Jerry's Arcade (?) - Valley River Center Mall [293 Valley River Center, Eugene, OR]
    Cab: Stepmania X

Cab: ITG 2 loaded w/ ITG X, Stepmania, Vocaloid, and a few DDR 5th Mix/Max/Max2/Extreme

Apparently, there were some issues with the PC in the cab locking up and the staff at Putters have been either unplugging the cab or flipping the switch on the surge protector until Bell or Love can make it out. I have caught it like this twice now and just plugged it back in and it worked fine.

I honestly think the Putters employees just turn things off any time anything happens.

That said, I met up with Bell and Love on Saturday (July 23rd) and the machine seemed to be working excellently. I played about two and a half hours with no issues. So it should still be up.

So, is there any update on where they are planning to put other machines?

Not yet, but I'll be sure to ask next time I see them.

I suspect the plan to put one at the UofO is still a thing, but the ETA may be more than a year out.

Is the one at Putter Gateway's old machine perchance?

I never got to play at Gateway, so I'm not sure. I'll ask though and let you know what I found out.

The input on the Gateway machine would cut off sometime causing you to get a ton of misses. Does the machine here have that problem?

Edit: If he's taking requests for songs. DDR4ever's packs are pretty good.

No this machine does not cut off or cause misses. Sometimes it seems like the 2P down arrow can be finicky about pressure, resulting in the rare miss, but it's hard to tell.

In my opinion, this cab is actually very well maintained, despite appearances.

I'll pass along the request! I have requested more Max and Max 2 songs, so hopefully those will all be added before too long. Smiley

The stepchart selection is kind of bad. There are not very many pad friendly songs at all.

Then there's this.

True, there are some kinda broken, raunchy, and inappropriate songs in the list. I'll contact LOVE about it today and also check on the status of the Max/Max2 song additions.

Sure thing! I'm not able to check the forums very often, but I'll try to keep this thread up-to-date as much as possible. Hopefully it will continue to be helpful to others living here. Smiley

EMU has an arcade now so I'm hoping it will happen soon.

As of last night, the Putters machine is down. I've let the appropriate parties know and will check back this weekend to see if it's working again.

(Looks like a loose display cable, from the limited troubleshooting I could do without a key to the cab.)

Also, two quick updates:
1. No word on a second cabinet in the area and so far no confirmation regarding the UofO arcade.
2. Max/Max2 songs are in! It doesn't have them all, but most of the good ones (like Max300 and Healing Vision Angelic Mix) are in there.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the departure of the Putters cabinet.

Yesterday, it was hauled away, to the great arcade in the sky.

Putters has no plans to provide any replacement dancing games in the foreseeable future.

I will update this post with official word about other potential cabinet locations from LOVE and BELL as soon as I hear from them.

Until then, so long, and thanks for all the steps. May our calves rest in peace.  Sad

Man, you make it sound like they took the machine out back and shot it. I hope not. 0_o

Haha well it kinda feels that way. That was the last DDR machine in the area. Met some cool people there, had a lot of fun, and now we're adrift without any hope.

I love DDR, but I probably won't drive all the way to Beaverton to play.
(Okay that's a lie, but I won't drive out there very often! Angry )

I hear ya. The DDR machine you and some buddies met and played at always feels special. I'm sorry to hear they moved it away. Did you ask them where it is going? I'm curious if it's going to be privately owned or is moving to another location.

From what I understand, Putters decided to drop the machine in preparation for an overhaul of their arcade area.

I did get a reply back from LOVE, though, (one of the guys who were leasing the cabinet to Putters) and he said they're considering Level Up (the "barcade" in Eugene) as a potential new home for it. But that's merely hypothetical and there is no set timeline as of yet.

(Level Up used to have a machine a few years back, but it was removed. I don't know the whole story there, but it seems unlikely that they'd agree to host another dancing game unless something has changed since then.)

I've offered to help with getting a new machine in our area, but it may eventually come down to just waiting to find the old cabinet a new home.

Level Up never had DDR. They just had Beatmania.

Is LOVE still looking into the EMU? They got rid of The Fast and The Furious so there might be a spot for it.

Thank you Sync, that is correct. When I said they had "a machine", I couldn't remember which kind it was, lol.  Tongue

I'll ask him about the EMU again. He mentioned it a while back, but I haven't heard any update since. I'll be sure to report back as soon as I have something.

Another day, another lack of DDR in our area. There has been no word regarding new machines. If anyone has heard rumors, please chime in.

For anyone new to this thread, our only known DDR was removed in January (2017). The next closest cabs are up in Beaverton.

If anything changes, it will be posted here!

There a couple machines in the area I think but they are in private locations.

Interesting. If you happen to know the owners, please encourage them to provide contact info so we can make these cabs available to the community!

I definitely want to respect their privacy as much as possible, but hopefully they'll be interested in sharing. There are many friendly and respectful enthusiasts here who would appreciate the chance to play locally again.

Alright! Thanks to Sync for the update and to marx! for the PM to get my attention (and additional details below). I've updated the main post to reflect the new Stepmania X cab at VRC.

Will likely try it out tonight and report back with as much detail as possible.

"there's now a StepmaniaX cab in the Valley River Center mall here in Eugene.  Since SMX doesn't support quarters yet, there's a credit card reader attached to the machine. It costs $1 for 6 minutes of play, after which the touchscreen stops reading any input."
