It's not in my interest, but in the interest of a lot of bemani players I know who I are big poker buffs. I can think of 6 people off the top of my head, most of them not registered members here.

I know when Darknote (Mendel) was discussing starting a new PNW/Oregon forum, he was going to have a poker section.

Possibly could attract those folks over here?

I've pretty much stopped playing poker ever since it's been illegal online.  I wouldn't be that interested.

Kay. I really don't know if it would be a good idea, as I am not informed. And I heard of this idea back when online poker was legit Tongue

Whether online gambling is legal or not (debated at this point) a forum talking about poker is totally different, and free online poker is completely legal.

Online poker for money is illegal; it's a national law now.

Which due to my understanding actually served to hurt foreign investment in the US market (as many of the online poker companies were foreign-owned and run), but then various people have various feelings on that (by default I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to have foreign interests in gambling markets).  But then, that's politics and not for here...

As for playing poker; I know how to play but have little interest in forming a meeting or game just for that.  But I might play a few rounds on the side at a party or something.  But almost certainly not for any wager of money.

Oh, um, this is in relation to an online poker forum thing?  Well in that case since it's illegal then I guess it's moot...

Which law was it?
But regardless, it won't matter for us.

It was a provision passed with some other bill last year.  There are still sites you can play at but I've stopped due to time constraints.  I don't think the group here warrants a whole subforum but get together tourneys might be fun

Ah, I found it. It's the "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006" which failed on it's own but was tacked onto the "must pass" Safe Port Act. So it is law, but it's also horribly written and could apply to too many situations and I'm sure someone will find a legal loophole.

I'm not sure that poker needs its own forum, but I'd certainly be up for playing poker (maybe for coins for the arcade or something) with some bemani folks at some point, for sure.

Then again, I play good old fashioned 5-card, not Texas Hold 'Em, so maybe not.

Yeah, I really don't think there would be enough interest/discussion to warrant an entire forum for the topic. (I'm starting to have doubts about the air hockey board as well)

Feel free to make a topic or two in Random Discussion, though. Who knows, if they really take off then maybe I'll consider it. Tongue

Bad luck can be used well by an expert tactician.

My brother won hundreds of dollars at a poker tournament where his highest winning hand was two pair. 'Tis true.
