October 05, 2012, 02:46:53 PM - ORIGINAL POST -

To celebrate Halloween, I want to offer a challenge for the month of October! The goal is to freak yourself out, and nothing freaks you out more than coming dangerously close to DEATH! (or losing, but whatever)

Song: CHARLY (HALLOWEEN DUB)
Difficulty: Hard (9)
Challenge: Get the lowest possible score without failing the song.
Rules, Info, etc:
The song must be played with the following modifiers; Blinker, Bumpy and Wave.

- This challenge is intended to be done on an actual arcade machine, Stepmania scores are not valid.

- Your score picture needs to show these mods active in the result screen for your score to be valid.

- I will offer a bonus of (-.5%) for each time you get a "BARELY" on the result screen graph. In theory, it is possible to get a negative score using this scoring system.

- Oh yeah, if it wasn't obvious, the deadline for submissions is HALLOWEEN! There is a prize for the winner, so get those feet flailin'!

Update:
Here is the stepchart (from ITG Rebirth).

This sounds super fun!  To clarify - the lowest possible score without failing the song, or just the lowest possible score?

If you were allowed to fail the song, it would be trivial to get 0.00, wouldn't it?

Correct. Even if it is obvious, I need to write it into the first post.

The Acme machine is getting a full stage service/vacuum job Tuesday.  :-)  Let us know how it works out.

If we get below 0.00% (the machine doesn't display less, but it is theoretically possible while still clearing the song), is our score counted as what it should be?

I'm not sure I'm clear on your question, but if you get 0% and it shows 3 "barely" markers, I will manually adjust your score to -3% for the sake of the challenge. Honestly, I'll be amazed if anyone can get a negative score. That'd be awesome, though.

Thank you very much Bill!! Especially with the elimination of any pad errors in the last bit of the event!

I underestimated how difficult this challenge is with the mods I listed. I'm making an amendment to the challenge by removing the 1.5x speed mod requirement. Players can now choose whatever speed mods they want.

I know a lot of people are busy with Gerrak's current challenge event, but I wanted to remind you that there is only about 1 week left until this challenge is over. I'd like to see everyone give it a shot at least once. The worst that can happen is you fail the song or you suck at it...which is the point of this challenge anyways!

So go out there and take a crack at this. Post your scores here for maximum glory.

At this point, I'm not expecting many last-minute submissions, but you have until midnight tomorrow to post your scores here for a chance to win!

I believe so. You had a pretty darn low score and it would've been tough for anyone to top that. CONGRATULATIONS!

Let me review my stockpile and I'll let you know what awesome prize you won shortly.
