Re: Gauging Interest For Challenge Tournament On 4/16

So long as I'm not working at the time, I am game to participate.

Cry It's actually too soon for me to request off from work, though it's too early for me to know whether I'm scheduled that day. Heh

Re: Gauging Interest For Challenge Tournament On 4/16

I just want to quote what OMGKat says in his post (which Laura linked to above):
Quote
BIG FAT DISCLAIMER: To some people, these challenges may seem unfair, unfun and completely ridiculous. The rules may not make sense and seem outrageous or incorrect. This event is not meant to be just another technical event and is aimed more towards strange physical and mental challenges that some people may not be able to complete. If you have any doubt in your mind whether or not you should enter this event, please do us all a favor and don't enter. If you're in an overly competitive state of mind when you compete in this event, you'll only be disappointed and angry when you're eliminated
I cannot stress this enough. I want this thing to be fun and enjoyable, not filled with tears and anguish.

Gauging Interest For Challenge Tournament On 4/16

My good friend Robby (omgmkat of beatgamer.com) is running a really cool looking challenge tournament in Utah on 4/16.  I really want to attend, but don't want to go to Utah, and also really want to bring these fun challenges to all of you guys here, so I talked to him and Scott/Suko, and we came up with a really cool idea: What if we run this tournament on Scott's machine at his house at the same time that Robby is running this tournament in Utah, and we stream video to each other and compare scores over Google Docs?

So essentially, we were wondering if anyone would be interested in attending a silly challenge tournament on a short timescale (4/16 is two weeks from this Saturday) for the purpose of 1. Having fun and 2. Experimenting with interstate tournament play over the internet.  (For this tournament, we wouldn't be competing against Utah's players, to be clear - just comparing scores with them and watching each others' players complete the challenges via streaming video.)

Scott has given me the go-ahead to post this and gauge interest.  I know Sakuracon is coming up, but since that event is limited to con attendees, of which many PNWBemani.net players are not, I figured that this might not necessarily lead to over-saturation of tournaments.  If there is an entry fee at all, it'll be something like one dollar, and any and all prizes will be silly gag gifts and stuff; this tournament would be for fun only. Smiley

So... thoughts?
