Gameworks Music Game Meetup!

So I thought it'd be cool if we could get some music game players together for some playing at GW sometime soon.

This event will take place at 6pm on July 7th (which is this Saturday).

Things to Consider:

Are there still any deals that would require people to go at a certain time or date?
When can people make it?
What time is best?

Would anyone want to go out for dinner (Red Robin or whatever) afterwards?

Hopefully this won't end up being mediocre like the last meetup I tried to organize. That being said, I think all of us had a lot of fun! GW sucks a lot less now, so I think it's safe to say this will be good.

Lol The Omen

About the parking, there's another $5 parking in this one spot, it's out in the open. I'm sorry I can't give specifics but I was able to walk to Seattle Center in about 5 minutes. And from there to Gameworks was another 10 or so.

I'll go to this if Sunset Bowl is near. I don't mean to be a bitch or anything.

JonDMN is very intimidating, even if he doesn't try.

I was there last night and BlueSS checked with the desk/techs/someone.  They've been aware of the session glitch for awhile, but it's supposedly a wiring issue they don't yet know how to fix.

Taiko's still obscenely fun.

I have a few goals while I am here:

1) Management and I are going to have a chat. Kevin told me about his most recent 'discussion' with a tech. Telling a kid half your age to fuck off, ESPECIALLY since that impression leaves a foul taste on the look on the rest of the staf base there, is completely unacceptable.

2) Get more tickets. The bouncing ball game = ticket city.

3) ask bluess out.

When I heard about what went down between Kevin and some tech, I honestly gave thought to writing directly to HQ about it (along with direct conversation with local management of course)... then I realized I don't know what the tech's name is or anything.

Yeah, I kind of don't want to start any drama with the GW staff about that. I mean, yeah it's totally unacceptable what happened, but I guess I just don't really wanna start problems. I should have just kept what happened to myself.

Also, the tech took his badge off when he got near me. :[

Unless you can average about 100 tickets or more per dollar, you're getting jacked.  I'm using the PSP (25,000 tickets) and DS Lite (15,000 (?) tickets) as benchmarks for this.

Though I don't know the specifics of the situation (yet), you shouldn't feel bad at all.  You didn't start the problem from what I can tell; the GW staff did.
I was not planning to coming to this meetup but I will try to make it out if you guys are going to be petitioning the GW; the more the merrier, you know?

We're at least going to complain about the machine conditions.

Jon's probably going to rant at them about how I was treat.

I have one request, though: If anybody brings up what happened between me and the techs, don't mention me directly.'

ALSO THERE WILL BE SOME GODDAMN PLAYING OF 777 AT 7:07PM TONIGHT

Unfortunately, if you really want something to seriously be taken care of about this, you may have to personally involve yourself.  Once again you shouldn't feel ashamed or be apologetic about this, you did nothing wrong.  Just a heads'-up.

Also, I don't know what complaining to Gamework$ then playing there, thus giving them money will prove, but...

I just got back from Gameworks.  I saw pantsu before I left.  I probably would have stayed longer, but I hate driving back home at night and my hands were starting to get sore.

I managed to get the top right yellow button to stick  a little less by grinding it around a bit.  I don't know how long it fixed it, but I wasn't having as many problems after that.

I also played a couple rounds of TnT9, pretty fun,... but the padding on the drumsticks kind of hurts after a bit.  There was this asian guy playing the whole time that I was there., He had his PS2 sticks.  He was crazy good at it.

I played a round of DMX1st, but meh... I'm not too into that.  I only played it because there was a credit already in the machine.  I'll probably go back to GW during PAX.

Truth.  I passed some more songs in the mid-30s, including Nebuta Hyper. Smiley

PROTIP: GOODがBADに is a really easy ojama for 10 challenge points.  The name says it all: Goods are counted as Bads while the ojama is active.

So the get together was a really fun time, probably more fun than the other ones, and the after-tournament stuff. I like how Gameworks has people there playing, instead of the awkward "end of the bowling alley" feeling Acme has.

haha, he was still there when the last of us left around 11:30. He was doing like the (oni?) 9 star songs, passing them just fine. His English skills didn't seem that good but he was really nice and friendly. Awesome guy.

This is why the game is good.  Tongue  If I keep this up, I'm going to have some buff arms here from playing Taiko a bunch.

I'm pretty tired, but fun times -for sure. Although I wasn't wearing a shirt with buttons this time. I almost wore one that did though...  Tongue

PS: Cheeseworks afterwards was great too.

Sounds like I missed out; well I had a good evening with Mario Party and some friends anyhow, but woulda been nice to have been able to join you guys =O

So did anything get discussed with GW staff/managers?

DMN tracked down the general manager to discuss the Kevin thing you may or may not have heard about (rude and racist tech who said they'd never fix pop'n's button when asked about it).  The manager called the tech manager over so he could hear the details.  The tech manager was later seen yelling at some staff member outside.  We assume this has now been resolved.

As for session repairs, they still claim it's a wiring issue and they need a manual to figure the stuff out.  I'd assume they simply don't know what plugs in where, instead of them not knowing how to fix some broken hardware.

Ah, well I guess that sounds good then; hadn't heard the tech in question was a racist, but Kevin told me the other details.

As for the session repairs, well its a bit frustrating if it is a wiring issue as I'm certain they could figure it out pretty easily if they just called on their corporate network for a manual and/or assistance (I'm certain GW Seattle can't be the only GW with a DM/GF?...Can it?)

Heh, I know the GW in Vegas has a GF 1st mix machine.  I don't know about DM though.  I'm sure the wiring thing wouldn't be too hard to figure out.  I think they are legit 11th and 10th kits in the machines too, so it being a bootleg shouldn't be a problem.

Seriously though, if I were being paid to work on arcade cabinets, I'd probably be able to figure this stuff out pretty quick.
