I need some info from anyone who has registered. Konami has not told Bill nor I that anyone has registered.... soo umm, has anyone registered?

Round Three

Winners from Round Two will move to the final Round Three tournament which location has yet to be determined. I was told that Konami plans on using DanceDanceRevolution PS3 for this event and that a new home version pads will also be used. The rules for this event can also be found on the official rules page.
Prizes that have been announced include a 250$ gift card and a copy of DanceDanceRevolution for each winner of their age division. Additional sponsors are still a possibility which may increase the prize value.

Tournament Administration I
 
•     Administrator of the tournament determines best times to hold Qualifier tournament (Either during a regular scheduled class or a specific time set up for the tournament)
•     Administrators keep track of all Participants’ scores on the tracking sheet reporting
only the 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th
 place winners’ information to the Admin site.
•     Participants  line up in random order
•     Arrow speed and difficulty level may be preselected by Administrator According to age division each age division should compete at the same arrow speed and difficulty level.  This gives an equal playing field or may be selected by the participant. For example:  
–    Light for ages 8-12
–    Standard for ages 13-17
–    Heavy for ages 18-32
•     This depends on which game you have.
•     Play begins in order of song number
•     Administrator watches each Participants  turn of play
•     Administrator uses best judgment to handle disputes and redo’s depending on
circumstance
–    Poor conduct on the part of the participant  
–    Technical difficulties or issues
–    Interference from other Participants  
–    Illness
–    Inappropriately attired the day they are to play (wrong shoes, clothes too
loose)
–    Location,  emergency
•     Tie breakers are held immediately upon completion of all turns
–    Tie breakers occur when two or more Participants  have the exact same score
–    Admin will set same difficulty level arrow speed and use the tie breaker song
from the song list
–    Participants  in a tie-breaker will each have one turn of play until there is a
clear winner
•     Upon Completion of competition the admin reports on winners to the admin site

Tournament organizers who have registered their locations for participation in the 2010 DDR US Championships have started receiving information about the tournament. Below is an updated version of what we have gathered from reading through the documents.

Round One – These are tournaments locations that have been registered through the website by tournament administrators who will run the tournament for their area.

Once a tournament location has been registered and accepted by Konami, competitors that have registered on the website will receive an email directing them to the nearest Round One tournament location.

Any official Konami DDR game can be chosen by the Tournament Administrator. The official rules states that a "DanceDanceRevolution game system" is to be used and suggested a PS2 version in other documentation.

3 Age Divisions

    * Youth, age 8 through 12
    * Teen, age 13 through 18
    * Adult, age 18 through 32

3 songs and difficulties for each age division will be chosen by the Administrator. A 4th song will be chosen for tie-breakers. Competitors choose between one of these 3 songs.

“The winner‟s score in Round One is determined by multiplying the number of “difficulty blocks” the song has (i.e. a score of 100,000 on a 7 difficulty block song comes to a final score of 700,000).” This is what is stated in the official rules, but the Admin Training PDF states “Scores will appear on the bottom of screen once play ends, this is the score that is recorded.” Going back though to the official rules says “Following Round One all winning scores are determined by the number of “Perfect” steps of each competitor.”

Round Two – These are 4 locations across the US that will be announced.

Dates: October 1, 2010 through November 20, 2010

Four total regional qualifier tournaments will be held, unlike last year’s 8. The official rules state that only the First and Second place winners from each Round One division are eligible to compete in the Round Two regional’s, but in other places it states top 3 places.

Rules are the same as last year’s regional's. Single elimination, first 3 rounds are best of 3, song choices are randomed from specific list, semis and finals participants are able to choose one song and the third song is randomed.

Round Three – Finals, location to be announced.

Date: December 4, 2010
Rules are single elimination, random seeding, best of 3 . “In order to qualify for the US Finals, you must win your age group and have one of the top four scores nationally.”

Prizes

Only the prizes for the Regional tournaments are stated in the Official rules. 1st and 2nd regional winners receive a trophy and a copy of a DanceDanceRevolution game. The website states that $250 gift certificates will be awarded to the top 3 in each age division.


A lot of what I've been reading has been taken from the West Virgina DDR State Championship. There are many small details that are stated differently in different places from the Official Rules, so its very hard to understand what to expect. We still do not know which arcade version of DDR players will be expected to compete on for the Regional and Final tournaments.
